MidnightClan Ceremonies 7/11/14 - All of MidnightClan!

First things first, good job and a congratulations to everyone who posted on the LeafClan battle! SILVERSTAR IS FINALLY DEAD YAY ^^ These ceremonies will be taking place one night after the vigil held for the cats killed in the Major War, which I have not yet posted.

If any of your MidnightClanners died in the battle, please PM me with their name(s) so that they can be added to the vigil.

Now, onto the ceremonies!

If you asked for a ceremony, remember that you must also have posted them on the MidnightClan Member List in order for them to receive their ceremony. As I am leaving for the next week, you will have to wait until the next ceremonies for you cat to move up ranks.

Also, feel free to have your cats try to approach Bramblestar with any questions, concerns, or comments after the ceremonies. ;3

Leafbare was loosening its icy grip on the forest, just as Silverstar had loosened her grip on LeafClan with her death in the Major War, but neither have truly disappeared forever. Leafbare will come again in a year, with its bitter cold and powdery snows; Silverstar has left LeafClan in ruins and will haunt the Clans for generations to come. Everything around them was a circle. The seasons, the days, life and death...

Bramblestar padded out of his den, leaving the uneaten mouse and almost all emotions beside his nest, his face as expressionless and stony as ever as he leaped up onto the Skystone. The death of his son had hit the MidnightClan leader hard. Why did he disobey me? He could have been safe in the camp! Why did you have to take him, StarClan? Why, StarClan, why?! The tom let out a hiss in his frustration with his starry ancestors before remembering that he was not alone, and that cats had probably been watching him since he emerged from the den.

"Cats of MidnightClan, all who are well-enough to listen, gather for a Clan meeting." His voice betrayed a hint of tiredness as he called the Clan together. Of all things, he did not want to do ceremonies now, but it was his duty to name the new apprentices and warriors each moon, and that duty needed to be carried out.

He waited a few moments for the Clan to appear and then continued, although his tone was rather flat. He knew in the back of his mind that most of the Clan was probably happy that Silverstar was dead, but he just couldn't bring himself to act cheery with or for them. but he could still deliver a pretty good speech. "Even with the injuries produced by the Major War, MidnightClan and all the other Clans have prevailed and defeated Silverstar. Hopefully, LeafClan will be able to work it's way back to being a respectable Clan under new leadership--whomever StarClan has chosen--and that we may have peaceful borders with them for many moons to come. but, LeafClan aside, we have new warriors and apprentices to name."

"Fernpaw, under the watchful eyes of the stars, I now give you your warrior name of Fernfeather. I welcome you as a full warrior of MidnightClan. May StarClan guide and protect you for many moons to come, until you retire to the elders' den."

"Silverpaw, under the watchful eyes of the stars, I now give you your warrior name of Silvershine. I welcome you as a full warrior of MidnightClan. May StarClan guide and protect you for many moons to come, until you retire to the elders' den."

"Blazepaw, under the watchful eyes of the stars, I now give you your warrior name of Blazestorm. I welcome you as a full warrior of MidnightClan. May StarClan guide and protect you for many moons to come, until you retire to the elders' den."

"Now, Thrushkit, Brindlekit, Barkkit, and Brightpaw, please step forward."

"Thrushkit, you have come of the age of six moons and are now ready to begin your journey walking the path of a warrior, according to the laws laid down by our ancestors moons ago. Barkflame, even though you are still a new warrior, I believe that you will be able to lead and train your new apprentice Thrushpaw well."

"Brindlekit, you have come of the age of six moons and are now ready to begin your journey walking the path of a warrior, according to the laws laid down by our ancestors moons ago. Featherfoot is an experienced warrior, and I believe that he will be able to lead and train you well under your new name Brindlepaw."

"Barkkit, you have come of the age of six moons and are now ready to begin your journey walking the path of a warrior, according to the laws laid down by our ancestors moons ago. Honeylight, even though you are still a new warrior, I believe that you will be able to lead and train your new apprentice Barkpaw well."

"As for you, Brightpaw, due to your current mentor's...disappearance, it is time to give you a new mentor to continue your training as a MidnightClan warrior. Flintshade is an experienced warrior, and I trust that he will be able to expand and help you improve on what Sagebreeze has already taught and finish your training."

Before the cheers started up, Bramblestar gave a respectful dip of his head to the new warriors, apprentices, and mentors, and managed to add in, a little more enthusiastically, "Congratulations to all," before retreating back into his den.

Fernfeather smiled. It was a lovely name that reminded her of a feathery frond of fern. In the sea of pelt colours; blue grey, grey, white, black, calico... It was hard to find the white and red tom. She opened her mouth, looking for his scent. She received it and ran over to him. "Hopefully now that we are warriors, I won't fall over you as much!" she giggled, attempting to friendily flick his cheek with her tail.

Barkkit scampered out of the nursery, his fur neatly cleaned. He watched his leader call the sumonnings, and ran into the clearing, nearly colliding with another cat. Sorry! He called in his mind, although he knew they couldn't hear him. The little kit waited impatiently as his leader named the other apprentices warriors. Then finally it was Barkkits turn.

He held his head up as he received his name. I am Barkpaw, an apprentice of Midnightclan! He thought silently, swearing to himself and to his clan that one day he would be the best warrior in the whole forest. My mentor is Honeylight. He smiled, he had always liked that warrior, even though he didn't know her too well. He stood up, and headed in a random direction, hoping to find his mentor.

Silverpaw stood and watched as the ceremony began. She froze, her ears perked to listen to the sound. She was becoming a warrior?! She was a bit happy, as this was what she had been wishing for for so long, but a tiny part of her wished that she still had the carefree nature of the position apprentice. Even so, she would try to be the best warrior she could. Her tail swung into the air in joy and realization. She needed to tell Barkflame! She looked around, hoping to spot her mentor. She heard another apprentice receive him as a mentor, and could not help but feel jealous. Such an awesome cat was her mentor, not some random kit's mentor from off the street! She froze, remembering that Thrushpaw was Barkflame's brother. Thushpaw, you'd better be the best apprentice there ever was, She thought as irritation and jealousy filled her to the brim.

The young pale calico she-cat was alerted by the Midnightclan leader's call, and she quickly padded into the clearing to take a seat at the back of the group of cats, her ears perked.

Honeylight trained her honey-golden eyes on Bramblestar, letting out soft cheers when new warriors were made. Her eyes widened when she heard her name announced to mentor Barkkit. She leapt to her feet as soon as the ceremony was over, and she padded to meet the young brown tom. "Greetings, Barkpaw." She mewed, her soft voice friendly and her eyes alight with joy. She didn't expect to get an apprentice this early, especially when she was not clan-born, but she greatly appreciated that she had gotten one. Honeylight bent her head to touch noses with her apprentice, meeting the tom's bright green eyes.

Barkpaw smiled, looking up at Honeylight. As the warrior reached down to touch noses, Barkpaw gave a friendly nose touch back. He sat down and gave a quick, shy lick of his fur. but whatever nervousness he had was soon drowned by excitement. Gazing into the she-cats eyes, Barkpaw gave a look of exhilaration. "What are we going to do first?" He mewed.

Barkflame watched as his apprentice was named a warrior. He smiled happily at how proud he felt for Silverpaw "Oh I mean Silvershine" He thought with a chuckle. The dark brown tabby walked over to his older mentor "I'm so proud of you Silvershine" He said before licking her ear. Barkflame couldn't help to smile at his former apprentice. At that moment he heard his brother's name and that the younger tom was just made his next apprentice. The dark brown tabby looked back at Silvershine "I'll be right back, I'm going to greet my new apprentice" he said to the new warrior she cat. Walking over to the younger tom and standing before his little brother to touch nose's as he did with Silvershine when she was made his apprentice. The memory of his first apprentice made him smile "We will be sure to work hard on you becoming a warrior, won't we Thrushpaw" He said smiling. Barkflame stood beside the younger tom and than sat down near his new apprentice. He was hoping to maybe become Silvershines mate since they seem to get along so well when she was his apprentice.

Brindlekit follow her brother Bark-kit out of the nursery. The young she cat hoped that someone who had been a warrior for a while was going to be her mentor. When Bramblestar finally got to her new name and named a cat named Featherfoot as her mentor. Brindlepaw went over to the older warrior and tried to touch noses with her new mentor. She hoped they would start training soon "When are we going to start training" She asked with excitement in her tone.

Honeylight was glad that Barkpaw was so eager to get started with training. She smiled at the brown tom, then turned toward the camp entrance. There were a lot of cats rushing around them, and she knew that most of the apprentices would be wanting to start their training as soon as possible, as well.

"What about a tour first?" She asked, flicking her tail.

Brightpaw trotted out of the Apprentices' Den, her mostly-white pelt pristine and practically glowing in the moonlight; all except for her pesky, grey foreleg and tail... ugh. The apprentice moved to the front of the crowd, found a spot that was relatively clear of leftover snow or debris, swiped it with her paw anyway, did a small circle, and then took a seat, neatly coiling her tail over her paws. Her heterochromic eyes shone brightly as she stared up at her leader, her ears and whiskers perked forward attentively. A new mentor? Thank StarClan--she had been about to go crazy, with Sagebreeze being gone and no one to mentor her. As the Ceremonies came to their conclusion, Brightpaw gave each new name one polite cheer and then swept her gaze around the bustling clearing. She was supposed to be meeting her new mentor--Flintshade, was it?--but she didn't see the tom...

Well, if he was going to take his time, then she wasn't about to waste any of her own.

With confident, determined steps, Brightpaw strode toward Bramblestar's den, pausing at the entrance. Outwardly, she appeared calm and resolute, but on the inside, she was... just a touch nervous, approaching her leader this way. He was her leader--couldn't get much better (or more intimidating) than that. Rasping her tongue against her chest once, twice for good measure, Brightpaw delicately cleared her throat and called into the den. "Bramblestar? May I have a word?" Her tone was mature for her age--it had taken a lot of practice to make it that way. The young cat stood very still and at attention, waiting patiently for Bramblestar to either approve or deny her.

Barkpaw followed her mentor eagerly, ready to train as an apprentice. He stood in front of his new mentor , wondering what she had in store for him. How about a tour first? A tour of the clans boundaries? Great! He looked outside of the camp entrance, wondering what was in store for him. Smiling up at his mentor, he merely said "Great!"

It was the night after the vigil for the dead, the moon slinking up and over the edge of the world and spilling silver light onto the gathering cats below. It was their leader's call that had roused them from a stupor of grief and mingled shock. Who could have expected a battle to be so bloody? It had, after all, deprived the flame pointed tom of his own mentor, and he knew he wasn't the only one doing without. He just hoped that they could heal again after the war.

At the words that began this ancient ceremony, he felt a bolt of excitement sizzle through him. He'd thought at first that tonight's meeting was just a stay-strong-keep-your-head-up thing; now he saw it was to be a ceremony! Or several, rather. Fur fluffing with anticipation, he stepped delicately towards the front of the crowd, taking a seat. The words of the ceremony tumbled over him, and then he was standing as a new warrior among two of his Clanmates. Blazestorm! It was a strong name; it fit him perfectly.

The tom turned at the sound of her voice, eyes catching onto the she-cat's monochrome face. "Yeah, well, I doubt it," he replied lightly to her joke, excitement and amusement twinkling like little stars in his eyes.

[Ambrose]

"Ha! I really hope I don't. Tripping over you hurts." she giggled, smiling. Was it obvious?
Was what obvious, you may ask?
Oh, you don't know. Well, her love for this controlling, trouble-making, yet funny and compassionate, tom. This was the sort of tom that might think she was weird if she just asked him now. She leaned forward, ***LICKING*** his cheek.

The tom smirked. "Aye, well, I can assure you that it's not fun to be on the other end, either. You somehow managed to step on both my tail and my head last time. A warrior-worthy feat, that," he added with a little chuckle. Blazestorm lifted his head then, flicking his eyes around the clearing, the congratulations of their Clanmates a gentle susurrus all around them, as comforting as the murmur of wind in the woods. "Are you ready for the silent vigil?" he asked, returning those bright blue eyes to Fernfeather's face. "On second thought, can you even stay quiet for a whole night?" The teasing words were softened by a quick smile.

"Yes, I'm ready!" she yowled purposefully, joking around. As happy and euphoric as she was now, joking around with Blazestorm, she'd have to go to the vigil. It would be quiet and mournful; the opposite of now. Many of her close friends had died during the war. Her eyes got watery and she struggled to keep her wailing inside. She couldn't hold it. A soft whimper came out, then turned louder. "Sorry!" she wailed at Blazestorm. "I'm just sad because my friend died..." She tried to hold it in, but that worked to no avail.

Blazestorm ducked his head to rasp his tongue over the she-cat's shoulder, outwardly friendly. In truth, though, the action hid the complete lack of emotion in his eyes. Sure, he'd lost a few cats that he'd cared about in the war - but he hadn't had a real purpose for them. He might miss their presence occasionally, yes, but not with the aching heart that was the common feeling in this clearing.

"Well, at least they'll be watching you from StarClan," he replied easily. "I bet that your friend is calling out your new name right now." He craned his head back, blue eyes a paler reflection of the inky sky above. "Look! At that star!" His paw made a line towards an exceptionally bright star. "There's your friend, I bet."
