Sick once again (tagged and open)

    Pebblepaw stumbled into Spottedsky's den, his legs weak, his eyes dull, his throat dry from coughing. He tiredly scanned the den. Many other cats were lying around, and the sound of raspy breathing and coughing filled the air. The scent of sickness was strong, and it mingled with the scent that emanated from him.
    "Spottedsky?", Pebblepaw called out tiredly, in a small voice. The small apprentice searched for the medicine cat, but couldn't identify him amongst the pelts of all his other Clanmates.
    Pebblepaw slowly padded to a corner of the medicine den and curled up, his tail over his nose. He wheezed, and his frail body shook with his coughing. He was one more cat taken by the greencough epidemic.
    I knew this would happen!, he thought angrily, unconsciously flexing his claws. And right when I was just named an apprentice... When the first cold winds of leafbare started blowing through the oak forest, Pebblepaw knew that sickness was on it's way, and he knew this would go really wrong for him. Being a sickly cat, Pebblepaw certainly wasn't unfamiliar with the medicine cat den, but even so, he hated being there. He hated having such poor health, he hated being such a frail and weak cat. How could he ever become the strong warrior he dreamed to be if he had to spend such a huge amount of time curled up in a nest?
    It's so unfair, he sighed, waiting for Spottedsky.

"Pebblepaw," he said, adressing the apprentice, "You've caught it too? Don't worry -it'll be fine. Now, tell me, how much does it hurt?" He sat down next to the apprentice, nuzzing the little tom. He was trying to be comforting, but that wasn't always Spottedsky's strong point. He licked the tom's ear, whispering softly to the little cat, "You may be a pebble, but you are as sturdy as a boulder. I hope you realize that."

Pebblepaw wearily lifted his eyes to see Spottedsky's blurred silhouette above him. "Hurts a lot", he wheezed, then bitterly added under his breath. "As always."
The situation could be horrible for Pebblepaw, but having another cat's warmth so close by comforted him. In his sickly haze, he remembered how his parents would treat him so kindly and warmly back when he was a kit, unsure of whether the little mottled cat would survive the next moon.
Then he heard Spottedsky's words. He made an effort to lift his head and look at the medicine cat. In his frail state, all Pebblepaw wanted was some kind of reassurance, someone to tell him he was strong. Another bout of coughing shook him, but still he held his head up.
"I'm going to be okay, right, Spottedsky?", the apprentice rasped. Pebblepaw trusted the medicine cat. And he would make an effort to try and get better. After all, he was as sturdy as a boulder.
