Exploring the territory(Shimmer, closed)

Honeysuckle had waited until the ceremony was over before leading the way out of camp. She figured that she would teach her apprentice the territory and than maybe do some hunting techniques if they had time. She turned having told her apprentice to meet her just outside of camp whenever her apprentice was ready.

Mudkit was already waiting for his mentor at the entrance. He licked his paw and drew it over his ears, his dark, cloudy blue eyes flicking across the camp, searching for Honeysuckle. As she approached, the long-furred pointed tom suppressed a grunt of "about time". He knew it would be impolite - not that it has ever stopped him before - and also that it wouldn't make him seem like a very good warrior.

Honeysuckle had noticed her apprentice when she had arrived. When she realized her apprentice had been waiting on her shame scorched her pelt. 'What kind of mentor am I if my apprentice has to wait on me, it would be different if I had to wait him my apprentice should never have to wait for me,' she thought. "Okay, lets get started," she meowed keeping her face an emotionless mask so as to not give away her thoughts. Since she was sure her apprentice was ready she led the way out of camp. "I'll start by showing you the heatpool," she meowed and began to lead the way towards the heatpool.

Mudkit nodded politely, but as soon as she wasn't looking at him, he rolled his eyes, and mimicked her thoughts. She's the mentor! She should be there before me! but he didn't say any of this out loud, and simply followed the she-cat. He looked around at all the sights, drinking in every last bit.

Honeysuckle let her apprentice up a hill if you looked down you would probably still be able to see the place they made their camp since they were right above the Talonclan camp. She came to a halt on a pebbly bank and she looked at her apprentice. "This is the heatpool. The water is warm but it is a great place to cool your paws in greenleaf but the water drops whenever there is a drought and the water completely freezes over during leafbare," she meowed flicking her ears back and forth. Her face remained emotionless as she explained the landmark to her apprentice.

Mudpaw cautiously padded over to the pool. It was rather small, but the surface shined in the sunlight. Sticking one of his brown paws in, he suppressed a shiver. The water was surprisingly warm, despite its cold appearance, which was the main reason why Mudpaw got startled and shivered. "Alright," He grunted, inviting Honeysuckle to move on.

"Okay next I'll show you the dead willow," Honeysuckle meowed to her apprentice once she was sure he was ready to move on. Without saying another word she began to head south only going two foxlengths before coming to a stop at the dead willow tree. "The dead willow, kits are known for trying to climb this when their parents bring them to the heatpool but it is dangerous," she meowed. She than turned to face her apprentice her emotionsless mask disappearing for a few heartbeats to be replaced by a stern look. "I don't want to ever hear that you've been climbing this tree," she meowed.

Mudpaw examined the tree. It really fit its name; the thing looked like it had never been alive. Mudpaw nodded in reply to his mentor's warning, but couldn't help but to ask, "What about warriors? Is it dangerous for warriors to climb this tree?" He didn't fully understand why it was dangerous, but didn't bother asking any further.

"I never heard of any warriors climbing the tree. And I don't plan on climbing the tree either," Honeysuckle meowed looking at the tree. She was fine with climbing rocks but wasn't about to go and start climbing trees like some Leafclan cat. "I think the clan is worried that kits will fall off and for all we know the tree could be unstable," she meowed frowning.

Mudpaw shrugged. "I suppose." He replied. While they had been walking around, Mudpaw had been trying to pay attention to every last detail of the territory; if he was going to be the best Talonclan warrior someday, then he had to know the territory like the back of his paw. "C'mon, let's move on." He grumbled.

[Sand]

"You need to be more patient," Honeysuckle to her apprentice with a sigh. "Come on than, we're going to the Abandoned Lookout next," she meowed and started to walk off heading off in the direction the Abandoned Lookout was in. The ground started to steadily slope upward and she began to climb up not really slowing down to wait for her apprentice but she still walked slow enough so she would be able to hear him if something happened and would be able to race back to him.

Mudpaw followed quite a distance behind Honeysuckle, grumbling as he went. "I'm not a kit," He hissed under his breath, quiet enough so that his mentor wouldn't hear him. The ground began to slope upward, making Mudpaw feel a little tired. but he didn't show it, because he didn't want to look weak.

[Sand]

Honeysuckle continued walking until she reached the top and she looked at sat down curling her tail over her paws and looked out at the view. She was still waiting for her apprentice and since she hadn't heard anything she figured her apprentice was getting up her okay and didn't need help.

Once Mudpaw reached the top, he saw Honeysuckle waiting there, sitting. He looked down at his paws and forced his breath to be steady. He didn't want his mentor to think he was like a kit. "About time we reached the top." He meowed, this time loud enough for Honeysuckle to hear.

Honeysuckle let out a sigh and finally decided to ask the question that was on her mind. Just because she wasn't to good at reading the expressions of others didn't mean she couldn't hear something in a cats voice from the way they spoke. "Okay, what is it? I know a tour isn't the greatest thing but you must learn the territory. From the tone you've been using you would think I was dragging you around so what is it?" she asked her apprentice no longer looking at the view as she looked at her apprentice.
