Every hair on Eagleshine's pelt arose. He easily slid from out of the ferns not caring if Misteye was biting his tail or not. He glared icily at Dawnwhisker. Misteye groaned as his mouse brained clanmate slid put of the ferns. He had hoped biting Eagleshine's tail would awake Eagleshime's better senses. That didn't do the trick: Misteye glanced at Blazesplt who was watching Eagleshine intently. Dawnwhisker snorted as she watched Eagleshine come out of the ferns. "You were saying something, Willowbranch?" Dawnwhisker mewed snidly. She sneered at Willowbranch. Eagleshine fixed his eyes upon Dawnwhisker's. He glared menacingly at the SunsetClan she-cat. She ignored everything going around her, even Varuin, and snarled at the young, foolish, LeafClan tom. Misteye rolled his eyes and stepped out of the ferns. "I am sorry, Dawnwhisker. LeafClan has not plotted any ambush. We were just passing by," Misteye muttered. Why did he have to do all the talking? Why couldn't Blazepelt or Eagleshine step in for a change?

"First of all," Tiger affected a dark voice, "I will have you know," Willowbranch forced a giggle inside again, "that my name is not Tigerkit." Yes it is. "Why should I have to carry the name, the trademark, of the very cats who have lied to me all of my life and then reject me because all I wanted to do was love?" Because that was how you were born. "You probably don't know why I was separated from my family. but I am going to tell you." Willowbranch braced for impact.

Tiger told his story; he had two sisters, a mother, but a father not to be seen. I've only seen my father when I was a kit. And mother is long dead. His father was a MidnightClan cat named Adderstripe. The wind brewed, brushing Willowbranch's fur. Adderstripe wanted to meet his kits, but this was only so that he could kill his mother, Willowbranch gathered. She wanted to keep one kit, who was Tiger. His family rejected him, and so did Bramblestar.

"Try being me. My story is far worse." She fought back tears before she began.
"I was born to a LeafClan mother and a loner father. My mother and my big sister brought my brother and me to see him.
The night was stormy and ill-weathered as my mother and my sister trooped through the forest. A deadly gust blew my brother out of my sister's jaws, down into a ditch, scattered with rocks. His body was bloody and punctured. My brother is dead." She swallowed. "Then, as an apprentice, my mentor died, being mauled by a dog. My mentor was one of the nicest cats anyone could ever know. I was reassigned a new mentor, but he was horrible - just like Varuin, you are trying to corrupt Tigerkit - my mentor tried to corrupt me, to make me evil.
but I rose above this. I would not kill others in battle for no reason; not even rude border trespassers; unless they came for me, or my clan, first. 
Then, my mother was drowned by my mentor; I was still stuck with this horrible cat. It was just me and my sister. We rallied for my mentor to leave, and he finally did. I'm lucky to have a happy ending, but everything else has left its impact on me." A tear rolled down her cheek, until Varuin talked.

Willowbranch's pelt bristled less intensely as fear started to creep up on her anger and bravery... but Willowbranch would not allow this silent predator kill her valiance! She had to be strong for her Clan, herself, and for all others that would be targeted by this ruffian. She swallowed the lump in her throat. It disappeared far, far into her, forgotten.
"Why bring him home? Because it's dangerous out here, especially with cats like you. Tigerkit needs to be brought back home to his mother and family." she said, her voice clear, a sharp knife of self-belief. She was adamant not to succumb to calling the kit-soon-to-be-an-apprentice without his Clan suffix. She was ready to retort at his words with a bang. 
"He's not growing stronger by himself. He's growing more and more malicious, and starting to befriend the wrong type of cat." She paused, taking a breath; "Strength is not your claws; it is the goodness inside of you that fights to escape your head, and make its way into the world. You, Varuin; you are weak. Good inside, somewhere.. but you aren't strong enough to let your goodness out." she reflected, her tail lolling on the ground. She searched her clan, her tail slapping the ground, a sign to be alert and ready to attack.

Varuin did not believe that stealing prey was bad, and Willowbranch would explain. She had rethought her defensive actions earlier. 
"You can't just steal prey. We work very hard to get it. Please, don't do it again; we can let you off this time." she sighed, digging a small hole with her right front paw, a nervous tic.

"You seem to be the deputy, Ms. Willowbranch. I am honoured to be in your presence," Varuin said dramatically, Willowbranch pondering over whether the last sentence was mocking her or not. "Why, yes I am." she mewed calmly and simply. He raised his tail; was this an attack signal? It was all happening so quickly. 
He pretending to frown, his expression extremely forced. He's talking again... "I can very well keep track of my warriors, thank you very much." she mewed, twitching her tail. Please stop... I don't want to snap...

Almost as if the weather read her mind, the storm crept further towards the group. Storm clouds swelled overhead. Varuin decided to make a "witty comment".

"A storm is coming for the Clans," he said, his brown eyes staring into Willowbranch's blue.  "Your code will be your destruction." She snarled. "Our code stops us from being like you, Varuin." As she hissed the final word, Varuin stroked Tiger with his tail; running it down his spine, claiming Tiger as a rogue.

"By the way, Willowbranch... There's something I wondered about," he mewed, seemly innocent. "Go ahead." she spoke coolly.
He went on about her threatening to kill him if he crossed his border, which she could not remember and was quite sure she hadn't said. "It does, yes; but you have stolen our prey, and stolen a clan cat." she mewed, a growl rising in her throat. He walked menacingly around her. "I could kill you myself, but I won't. Not today." she snarled.

And he thrust his muzzle towards her, Willowbranch flinching, expecting him to bite her. Baring her ever-white fangs, her ears thrown back, her fur prickling, she yowled. "Step back!" She beckoned her patrol to crowd around her. 


"You will pay for the suffering you have caused me... You and all the LeafClan cats! Every. Single. ONE OF YOU! Fight me single-pawed, mouse-hearted flea-pelt!" he growled, so loudly!

Anger finally surged through her. It was time. With every ounce of strength in her body, she caterwauled:

"LeafClan! It is time! ATTACK!"

Applestream had just wanted to go out for a stroll to get away from the noise caused by twolegs and maybe catch a few things. He wasn't expecting or wanting to get in the middle of a border skirmish. but, as he got closer to the Leaflcan border, he had been assaulted with the scent of Leafclan and SUnsetclan, mixed with the slight edge of no clan scent he had ever smelled. He only caught one word and that must have been the Leafclan deputy (the one that kitted at that one Gathering? he thought) yelling, "Attack!"

Foxdung, he had never been good at fighting.

He hurried his pace, breaking the brush to see a handful of Leafclan cats and Dawnnwhisker. It didn't look like Willowbranch was leading an attack on the Sunsetclan cats, but at another cat who didn't look at all familiar. He felt safe enough to turn to Dawnwhisker, eager to be caught upin the events. "What's going on?" he asked hurriedly to his clanmate. "Who is attacking who? It looks like I'm a little late to the party here."

He stared at her in disbelief. Didn't you listen to a word I just said? My name is not Tigerkit! He listened to her story. How her brother died. How her mentor died. And then how her mother died. Oh, poor you. Your life must be so miserable, being clan deputy and all. He looked her in the eye. Tigerkit need to be brought back home to his mother and family. That was it. He was done with this sassy know-it-all. I have no family. He hissed. My mother is dead and my sisters don't want me. They said that I couldn't be their brother. That I had to leave. My home is here, in the wild with the cats I belong with, not some lousy 'loving' clan cats!  He hated Willowbranch. Tiger felt Varuin's tail run down his spine. He shivered. Great. Now I am on Varuin's side. Why can't I be on my own side? He froze and Willowbranch attacked. My first battle! He got ready to fight. I've been looking forward to this for a long time...

OOC: AAAActually, Varuin never claimed Tiger on his side - he's just saying Tiger is a rogue more than a Clan cat now. XD Also, first post was edited - do read.

The LeafClan cats surged forward, Willowbranch in the lead. The irate she-cat lunged straight for the silver rogue, eyes burning with such rage unseen to many, her claws and teeth gleaming in the dimming light of the storm. Varuin's chocolate eyes merely hardened with delight and bloodlust, ears flattened against his head. It's time... Time to show all of you to FEAR me!

With Tiger already readying himself for the battle, Varuin reared up, meeting the LeafClan deputy with a furious swipe of claws and a bite to the shoulder, lashing his tail to shift the balance and flip them around. The two cats tumbled to the ground in a hateful grapple, Varuin keeping his teeth fastened in Willowbranch's shoulder, his eyes glowing in malevolence. This was it. This was how he would begin his revenge plot against the Clan cats who wronged him. He would scare them, scare them in their hearts, down to the bone, to quench his bitter rage at the incident of oh-so-long ago.

"I will kill them. I have killed!" he growled through the flesh and fur. "I have killed, and I will still kill."

"What's going on?" he asked hurriedly to his clanmate. "Who is attacking who? It looks like I'm a little late to the party here."

"Tigerkit and this mouse brianed rogue," Dawnwhisker answered, eyes fixed upon the intruders. She leaped up and tried to grasp Varuin by the tail. Attacking sounded like a good plan to Dawnwhisker. There was a seeming fire in Dawnwhisker's eyes and she had no pity for Tiger or Varuin, or Willowbranch for that matter. She just wanted to get rid of the loosers.

Blazepelt looled worried as Varuin attacked his deputy. but before Blazepelt could do anything, Eagleshine came flying out, heading towards Varuin, while Dawnwhisker aimed for Varuin's tail. "Leave. Our. Deputy. AlONE!!!" Eagleshine yowled. The angry tom did his best to drive Vaeuin away from Willowbranch.

The storm that had been promised by Varuin came, at least in the weather aspect. Rain careered from StarClan, verging causing pain to each cat's body. Clouds covered all hope of light. Darkness was there now. 

Yet there was still no sign of thunder.

And here, we had Willowbranch. She had lost the kindness, lost her politeness. She was a boiling kettle of loyalty. 

And so, the kettle was poured.

She lashed out at Varuin, teeth more than visible, claws as far as they would go. Varuin hoped to land a blow at her with his claws, merely touching her flesh. The sting was not extraordinary, but what was to come sure was. Varuin fastened his teeth in her shoulder, Willowbranch yowling and falling to the ground. She swiped at his face with her right paw, claws unsheathed, though this was to try to knock his face out of her way. "I'll never fall to you, Varuin! I'LL NEVER GIVE UP FOR LEAFCLAN!" she screeched, looking to bite the back of his neck ((just to see if you want her to hit him carot)).
Lighting crashed across the sky as Varuin muttered his most recent statement, casting shadows behind the cats.
Blood was starting to well up in her wound, but she had no time to tend to this wound. She tried to pummel his belly. "Come on LeafClan!"

Every muscle in Applestream's body was tense, unsure of what to do or say. This fight didn't seem to be with Sunsetclan, but Dawnwhisker was already diving for the rogue's tail and the tom couldn't help but feel as though he should be helping the Leafclan deputy against the bloodthirsty rogue. He was unsure, though, as it seemed the three Leafclan cats and Dawnwhisker had it handled with the rogue. And so he turned his tense eyes onto the younger cat, Tiger. He was preparing himself for battle, riled up by something Willowbranch had said.

Right. Should he be fighting a kit? Should he be fighting a kit that was once part of his clan and had yet to do anything to Sunsetclan besides being aggravating? Applestream looked around the scene anxiously. It could be possible that Tiger would attack Dawnwhisker. And it was the ginger tom's responsibility to protect his clan, even before they got hurt. Yes, he should make sure the old Sunsetclan kit wouldn't hurt anyone of his clan.
Resolve now set, Applestream bunched his haunches and stared straight at the younger tom. He leaped, hissing and spitting into the group of fighting cats, aiming to land square on Tiger's back and use his weight to his advantage with the younger tom. Hopefully, his extra size would throw the rogue off balance and put Applestream in a more favorable position with the fight.

He watched as everyone lept to Willowbranch's aid. Why do they love that piece of foxdung so much? He was about to leap to Varuin's aid when he saw a flash of ginger fur. Applestream. Tiger had been so caught up in the dbate that he hadn't noticed the tom that had once been his clanmate arrive. The tabby tom felt Applestream land on his back. He suddenly went limp, a trick that he'd learnt from dealing with curious loners. He rolled with the larger tom, aiming to unbalance him and put Tiger in a prime position to attack next.

Lightning tore across the sky in a dazzling show of light and power, splitting the dark skies in twos and threes. It signalled the start of the heavy downpour, a torrential rainstorm of bloodlust and fury as seven Clan cats moved into battle against two aggravating rogues; the rumbling thunder that roared in their ears through the pumping of blood sent chills down their spines, with the pelting rain pummeling them mercilessly.

Varuin was unfazed by Willowbranch's attack to his face, her claws only managing a small scratch on his cheek despite the apparent strength she was using. Weakling! He tightened his teeth around her shoulder, drawing out more blood even though it was already welling up and beginning to dilute in the rain. Silver tabby fur clung to his large frame, making look more the picture of a lunatic as his brown eyes blazed with utter rage and bloodlust. Yes. Yes, he was out to murder the cats of LeafClan, and he would start with these pathetic fools! Starting with you... He thought as he glared at Willowbranch's fur, feeling her hindlegs kicking at his belly.

And suddenly there was pain in his neck.

"That's the best you can do? I will show you better!" he let go of Willowbranch's shoulder to yowl.

Varuin stepped to the side, now attempting to shake her off his scruff. With a sick snarl, he swung a heavy paw towards the she-cat's side, aiming to wind her, and hopefully pin her back down. but his attempt was coincided with an abrupt flow of electric agony in his tail, causing to swing his head around, only to spot Dawnwhisker biting down hard on his tail. At the same time, one of the other LeafClan cats (Eagleshine) came flying towards him, spitting and hissing. Somewhat burdened with Willowbranch and Dawnwhisker's weight, the rogue bucked to the side Willowbranch was on, moving his position slightly upwards of where he was standing.

The tom had mostly missed his mark, but his claws managed to tear off some of Varuin's fur. Howling with odd delight, the large rogue kicked out a hind leg, aiming to hit Dawnwhisker in the throat or jaw to release her hold on his tail, at the same time lashing one a powerful unsheathed forepaw to dislodge the LeafClan deputy, his claws aiming to rake her flank down to the hip. At this point, Varuin had shifted his weight onto his remaining legs, balancing on them in such a trained way that he could twist so that his teeth began to close in on Eagleshine's muzzle.

"You have wronged me! Suffer as I have!"

Eagleshine quickly decided it was best to back up. He muttered angrily under his breath, cursing whoever had been the parents of this bloodthirsty tom. Varuin was giving his clan enough trouble already. Eaglshine took sharp breaths as he watched Varuin's claws aim towards Willowbranch's flank. "W-Willowbranch... Watch out!" He thought. Out of breath, Eagleshine was motionless. He felt something grab him by the scruff and drag him back into the ferns, back to safety. With his vision clearing, Eagleshine watched the whole scene unfold. While so, a tongue was licking his fur. "Who is doing that?" Eagleshine wondered angrily. Eagleshine whipped around to see Blazepelt watching him. "I don't need you to take care of me! I was fine out there!" Eagleshine hissed. Blazepelt looked somewhat hurt. Eagleshine's ears flicked twice. Eagleshine slowly turned his head and saw Misteye chuckling. "Well, you see, it wasn't Blazepelt who dragged you back into here. It was me," Misteye explained. Eagleshine growled at Misteye. The grey tom stepped back nervously. Eagleshine could feel his muscles tense but he kept himself back.

Dawnwhisker endured the pain which vibrated through her body. She clenched the dirt with her claws. The tan she-cat closed her eyes as Varuin's claws fell upon her throat. The pain made Dawnwhisker yowl. Blinded by her anger, Dawnwhisker slashed an unsheathed claw at Varuin, not really aimed anywhere. She backed up and leaped to the side of Varuin. Dawnwhisker lunged at Varuin. The tan warrior's mouth opened to reveal a set of sharp teeth. "I will not give up!" She yowled loudly.

Misteye leaped from the ferns. Blazepelt was describing what was going on. He tasted the air. Misteye could smell Eagleshine. Using the senses which were still available to te blind warrior, Misteye managed to track Eagleshine. He grabbed the tom from what Misteye presumed to be Eagleshine's scruff and pulled him back into the ferns.

Varuin increased the pain; he tightened his sword-like teeth around her already bloody neck. Willowbranch howled, kicking back her back legs in an attempt to disbalance Varuin.

She was filled with extra confidence as her shadow grew in size, caused by the almost endless-looking streak of lightning that ripped the skies in half. Varuin then let go of her neck and snarled, "That's the best you can do? I will show you better!"
The shadow still reflected the current scene of Willowbranch latching on to Varuin's scruff relentlessly, blood in her mouth. She restrained herself from gagging on the disgusting taste. She bit down hard. Blood spurted out from him, covering her face.

Willowbranch realised what she was doing. She was hurting another cat for her own safety, perhaps too much? but all the others around her were doing the same, with invisible self-doubt, and Willowbranch put hers away, far, far away. The rain washed off the blood rapidly, leaving her face marred only by a tinge of red around her mouth.

Willowbranch still hung on when Varuin shook his body, her body being flung around like a ragdoll. but she crashed to the ground when a strengthy paw pinned her to the ground again. There was a dramatic crash of thunder. Is today the day I die? I hope not. Willowbranch thought of her kits, of her mate, and of her missing mate. He could be in StarClan now..
but she could not think for long, as she had to act fast; Varuin had her pinned down. His face twisted in pain as Dawnwhisker sunk her teeth into Varuin's tail. With a quick, surprisingly skilful manoeuvre, she stood tall once again, flashing a smile towards Dawnwhisker.

Eagleshine careered towards Varuin, making him buck to WIllowbranch's side. He hit her, and she fell, but she rolled over and got up again. "NOBODY SHALL ATTACK LEAFCLAN UNTIL THEY KILL ME FIRST!" she screamed, trying to scrape his side continuously.

Varuin, again, lashed out a paw, and Willowbranch, again, fell to the ground, knocking her head off of a rock. Her jaw started bleeding. She whipped out her tongue and gave it a few licks, before turning around, facing away from Varuin, and trying to buck him with her back legs.

Willowbranch's body was still filled with adrenaline, and she felt only minorly injured, but she would surely feel it later.

Success! Applestream thought as he landed on the young tom's back. Almost immediately after his paws touched the enemy's fur, Tiger had gone limp and a surge of triumphant ripped it's way through the ginger cat's body. He had him! He leaned down to take a bite of Tiger's scruff, not willing to just left the aggressive rogue go without a few injuries as reminders of him and Sunsetclan. Varuin was still fighting with the Leafclan cats and Dawnwhisker, and soon, Applestream would be able to join them to drive out the vicious rogue. Tigerkit was young when he left and there was no way the cat had learned much in the few moons of absence he had had from the clan.

but, as soon as he had begun leaning down to grip his scruff, Applestream's belly lurched in terror as he felt the cat beneath begin to roll. The rain was quickly making Tiger's fur wet and the Sunsetclan warrior was scrabbling with unsheathed claws to keep a hold on the younger cat. It was to no avail. Applestream couldn't find a way to sink his claws into flesh and the rain was running into his eyes. "No!" the tom yowled as he felt himself being unbalanced. Awkwardly, he landed on his side in the soggy dirt, turning to mud even in heartbeats he lay there.

The brown tabby tom felt Applestream tumble off him and into the mud. Whilst the storm raged overhead the cats fought each other. Rain pelted down, turning pelts slippery and the ground soggy. Tiger approached the warrior as he lay in the mud. This is too easy. He lifted one sharp claw and laid it against Applestream's throat. He held it there, unable to move. I-I can't do it. He broke away and whisked into the tumble of cats. I couldn't do it. I couldn't do it. He repeated the phrase over and over to himself as he nimbly weaved his way through the battle. Why couldn't I kill him? The question hung over him. He didn't know what had made him remove his claw. He had thought that it would be easy. Easy as killing prey. It'll come with practice. You just need to be involved in a few more skirmishes first. He watches as Varuin and Willowbranch faced off. No way am I getting involved in that. He skirted around the battle and watched from the outside. I can't let them see me be weak! Tiger spun around and whisked into the darkness. He found a tree on the Leafclan side of the border and scrambled up so that he could watch the battle from a distance. This is more like it. He smirked as he lay on one of the branches.

Varuin's ears were swelling with the sound of snarls and hisses, the blood roaring as he faced the Clan cats almost single-pawed. One would think a cat would go down quickly under the onslaught of two or three cats attacking at once; the silver rogue was no ordinary cat, for he had trained moons upon moons with his mentor in the Twolegplace, thereafter leaving to hone his skills against other rogues and loners who dared cross his path. The cats of the Clans who chanced upon him were no exception.

With one of the LeafClan warriors retreating into the bushes against his will, Varuin now only faced the she-cats whose tempers seem to lend them strength to take him down despite the beatings they were receiving. but he knew they couldn't hold out for too long. He knew they would tire soon, that their muscles would ache and refuse to respond quickly the longer they stayed at this. It was all up to endurance from this moment on. And I will prove it to you! He growled deeply as Dawnwhisker's claws struck him across the shoulder, followed by her lunge at him; Willowbranch had spun around to face away, her hindlegs kicking out in some attempt to hit him at the same time. Starting with the fish-brains.

Letting out a mock howl of pain, the silver tabby let himself be knocked to the ground, his body sliding across the slippery grass and an adequate distance from the hissing Clanners. He laughed, standing up onto his paws, his silver fur now spattered with the dark brown mud that was slowly being washed by the heavy rain. Varuin's brown eyes watched and waited for the outcome of Dawnwhisker's lunge, now towards Willowbranch, knowing she hadn't expected the attack of the LeafClan deputy to seize him.

"Weaklings! The storm has come for you!"
