"Eaglepaw." She felt Brightpaw gaze at her. "I admire you. Despite your father being a murderous rogue, you talk about life as if its a wonderful thing that lies with StarClan, and you're so hopeful. And I," Eaglepaw felt his gaze leave her body, and instead, was looking the other way. "I've pushed everyone in my life away from me." Although he was turned away, Eaglepaw knew Brightpaw was almost on the brink of crying, and she didn't feel good about that. Not at all. She almost felt as she made him like this, just with her words.
"Listen," Eaglepaw soothed, looking at Brightpaw. "I'm very thankful that you admire me, buy, I want to say, like yourself too. Its not your fault your father is like that, find confident in other cats, friends, and you'll find that helps a lot. I used to also push everyone away, I thought they were all stupid, ignorant brats, but a friend if mine, Sootpaw, kept peraisiting, saying that I had to open up and live again. So I did. And it helped a lot." Eaglepaw looked at Brightpaw, concerned.

Brightpaw shook his head, even though he was grateful for Eaglepaw's words. "I don't know if I can do that now. Every cat in the clan knows me as that "one prickly apprentice"." He looked back into the she-cat's eyes. "but thank you. You really are only proving my point right now, though." He added with an attempt at a joke.

"I don't really know if I can do that bow. Every cat in the clan knows me as that 'one prickly apprentice'. You really are proving my point though," Brightpaw said while looking into her eyes. Eaglepaw chuckled. She had never had a good sense of what was a good joke, and what was bad, she just found everything funny. "Everyone who actually knows me calls me 'Mysterious one'. No one really tangles with me, that's why I don't really have any friends."

"You don't have many friends?" Brightpaw repeated, widening his eyes a bit. "For some reason that surprises me." The ginger and white tom chuckled a bit. "Well, what would you say if I said that I considered you my friend?" He asked. In all honesty, he was really curious as to what her answer would be. He liked Eaglepaw. She was different than the other apprentices, and wasn't nearly as annoying as them.

"You don't have many friends?" Brightpaw repeated after her, surprised.
"Well, what would you say if I said that I considered you my friend?"
"That would be great," Eaglepaw said shyly. "It is true that I've never had much friends, most of the apprentices are older than me, and they saw the day Mintfeather came back to camp, with kits, one soaked with blood. Me. They thinks I'm mysterious, dangerous. They don't even know how I feel. My sibling are also teased in the nursery. Despite being the oldest ones, they are still sickly and the other kits just pick on them. The only real friend, other than you now, is Sootpaw. He was always nice to me, and helped me, so I helped him back when he fell in love with another shecat." Eaglepaw smiled. "Its nice to have someone else as a friend. You're very nice and lovely, Brightpaw. Others might not see it, but I see it."

Brightpaw felt his eartips grow hot at Eaglepaw's last two sentences. He started to avoid eye contact. "Th-thanks. I have trouble making friends as well." He thought back to Owlkit in the nursery, and snorted. "Well, you can't blame me when rotten kits try to bite my leg off!" He laughed at the joke, though he didn't expect the other apprentice to get it.

"Owlkit? Eaglepaw guessed almost immediately. "Once, when I was going to the Skyfield, I went the wrong way and accidentally stumbled into WhisperClan territory. And then I saw Owlkit, and I only know his name because the cat he was bulling was pleading for his life."

Brightpaw snorted again. "Not surprised." He replied. The two sat in silence once again. Wind kicked up again, this time more ferocious. The ginger and white tom had to dig his claws into the ground to stay grounded. His fur fluffed up, and once the gust ended, he had to lick his fur flat.

"Not suprised," Brightpaw responded. Wind started to blow, before, it was light, but now, it was more of a gale. Eaglepaw felt as she was going to fly away or something, since she was so small and lanky. Thankfully, the gust of wind ended quickly, and the leaves stopped rustling. Eaglepaw turned to Brightpaw. "Well... What was that?"
She looked around.

Brightpaw shrugged. "Just a gust of wind." He replied. "Eaglepaw... I'd like to thank you for meeting me today. And talking to me... It's been really nice." He gave a slight smile, which was a rare sight to see unless Brightpaw was learning. Then he stood, and gave his fur a shake. "I should really be getting back to camp."

"Just a gust of wind," Brightpaw replied. Eaglepaw let out a breath of air. She didn't tell Brightpaw, but she gets... Unnecessarily scared of things. Then, Brightpaw started talking again. "Eaglepaw, I'd like to thank you for meeting me today. And talking to me... It's been really nice." He smiled, shook off his fur and stood up. "I really should be getting back to camp." Eaglepaw smiled back at him. "Your smile is really nice. You look very handsome when you smile. You really should smile more often, you know." She also stood up. "Well, yeah, I guess you should also be going. My parents and mentor are going to be worried. Brightpaw, it was also very nice meeting you here today. I haven't had a chat as nice as this one I in a long time. I hope we can meet again sometime, Brightpaw." Something about his personality stuck her fancy. It just felt... Right. She really wondered why there wasn't any cats who liked him. She really did. Well, it was time to go. She turned around, called "Bye Brightpaw! Hope we meet again!" over her shoulder, and she ran off, a sandy-silver blur once again.

Brightpaw felt his ear-tips grow hot at Eaglepaw's compliment. For some reason, it felt right coming out of Eaglepaw's mouth. Her calling him handsome... It felt like it was meant to be. Stop thinking like that. She's from a different clan, you can't get close to her! He reasoned with himself, but something within him yearned to see her again. He smiled again when she said that the chat was nice, and the ginger and white tom nodded. "Goodbye, Eaglepaw! I hope we can see each other again!" He called back, but was pretty sure that she didn't hear. His smile fading, he turned to return to camp. Time to go back to the stuffy and gross camp. He thought, racing through the territory.
