"Just a bad case of wounded pride."
Echopaw was surprised at his words, but also not as surprised as one would think. She was beginning to see that his pride was something valuable to him. If only he knew how to let go a bit, and become kinder. Softer. Maybe he needs a teacher, too. she thought to herself, the warm smile on her face still sticking. She shielded herself quickly as he shook off the snow, sending it in flying bits in all directions. She let out a soft laugh under her breath as he stormed past her, and for once she didn't feel bad about hurting his feelings. He needed to learn how to lighten up, and perhaps snow falling on his head was the first step to breaking out of his shell.
She padded belong him, along his side, quietly when he started getting a bit farther. She shook her head and wondered if he would keep this in the bad parts of his memory. Despite the icy cold wind, Echopaw thought that perhaps the leaf-bare wasn't so bad. Oh, of course it was, for the clans. but otherwise? She rather liked the silliness it ensured in the simplest of quests, like springing fun times upon a routine border patrol. Quiet in thought, she hadn't noticed that Ashfrost was moving quickly. She looked up just in time to see a wall of snow flung at her. By the time she reopened her eyes, there was snow sitting on top of her head, face, and stuck to her chest. Shocked, she stared at Ashfrost. "Ashfrost!" And to think he was uptight! He just threw snow on me! She shook her head and fell into a crouch, shaking her behind in the air mischievously. I'll show him! Echopaw leaned forward with her paws extended, pouncing on top of her mentor playfully. She pushed him down into the snow and then flipped, landing on her feet ahead of him in time to send a flurry of snow with her hind legs. Once she was free, she started running, looking back at him with a playful grin so that he would give chase.
