Empty stomachs, empty hearts (Great Deku Tree, open)

As the sun broke over the horizon, a large black tom stirred from his sleep in the warriors den. Golden eyes burst open, stark in contrast to his jet black coat, and took in his surroundings. Breathing in the scents around him, the muscular tom stood to his feet, his tail with its white tip dancing lazily with the air. His stomach growled and he wove his way out of the den and into the Stormclan clearing with one thing on his mind: food. He hated leafbare, the snow, the lack of freshkill. He liked being able to eat when there was plenty and sink his sharp teeth into still warm flesh. Unfortunately that would have to wait. Grabbing a gaunt looking mouse, he turned and headed back to eat his rather sad meal just inside the warriors den. The social cat that he was, he didn't want to miss out on anything after all. Deku

Snow-whisker had been dreaming about Green leaf when something stirring woke her. She looked up drowsily to see a large shadow leaving the warriors den. 'What's going on? Is another clan attacking?' She asked herself then decided against it. If there was a battle, more than one cat would be awake, and there would be a lot more panic.

The pure white she-cat felt wide awake now, so she stood up just as the figure returning to the den. Snow-whisker was such a new warrior that she didn't know many other warriors, so she padded up next to the larger cat. "Hi, my name is Snow-whisker. What's your name?" She sat down next to the cat, hoping it wouldn't object to her sitting here.

The large tom rumbled in approval as a pretty white she cat came out of the den and sat next to him. He had seen her around and remembered her as a new warrior to Stormclan. Snowwhisker, he sounded the name in his head. It suited her, delicate and beautiful. With a smile, the handsome tom purred in reply, "I'm Jaggedfang, sweet." He inclined his head to her, "How come I haven't spoken to you before, as pretty as you are?"

[Deku]

"Nice to meet you Jaggedfang." Snowwhisker looked up into his golden eyes with her blue ones, "Maybe because I've only been a warrior for a short time. I mean, how often does a warrior become friends with an apprentice?" She smiled, "Why are you awake Jaggedfang. It's the middle of the night, and it's leaf bare."

The large tom nodded thoughtfully, "ah yes, I remember your ceremony, congratulations, welcome to the club." That was something Jaggedfang didn't try to do, the deep seductive purr underlying his words. No matter what he said it was there, not that he minded of course. He grinned, "Now that you're a warrior I'm guessing you'll be snatched up pretty soon? A pretty, not to mention kind, she cat like you will be one of the first to find a mate darling." He spanned his gaze out over the camp before returning to meet hers kind of looking shocked that she cared. "Oh, I was hungry that's all plus I like the quiet the night brings." Getting himself back on track from his detour, he smiled again "Plus if I hadn't been, I couldn't have a pleasure of this lovely company"

"You may be right. To be honest I hadn't even thought about having a mate. I guess I've just been so excited to finally be a warrior. Oh, and I've just been relived that Goldenstar gave me my ceremony in the first place." She hadn't meant for that last part to slip out. She had almost conquered her clumsiness, and Jaggedfang didn't need to know about it. Snow-whisker hoped he didn't notice it.

She looked up at the countless stars in the night sky. "Isn't it great? I love it out here at night. I've always wondered why we sleep during the night when it's always prettiest. During the day we can see better, but this..." The white she-cat purred quietly then trailed off.

Oh Jaggedfang caught onto her unintentional comment, his eyes narrowing in thought, but he didn't mention it. Not now anyway and the rate at which she had tried to cover it up. When she turned to look out at the sky his eyes never left her and while she spoke of the sky, he spoke of her. "yes, yes it is" he murmured quietly as if he was talking to himself. Eyes shining, the large black tom, turned his eyes away and settled on the grass underneath his feet, sprawling his muscular body in a graceful stretch. Golden eyes were like flames in the darkness.

Snow-whisker felt a sudden urge to get up and explore. She was curious now about what everything looked like at night. What would the river look like, and the shallow pool. She stood up and stretched, "I'm going to explore, if you want to come. I mean, you don't have to. It's only if you want to." She stuttered. She didn't want to go out into the territory alone at night, but she would if she had to.

(If you want Jaggedfang to go with her, then it's up to you if you want to move the thread to the territory. You know what I just realized. Snow-whisker is like Anna from the Disney movie Frozen. Always curious, and always awkward x3)

At her words, the dark tom stood to his feet again, golden eyes interested. Exploring could be fun, especially with this interesting she cat plus he didn't want her out at night alone. Rumbling his approval to her request, Jaggedfang dipped his head to her and meowed in a joking formal manner : "where to first my lady?", his tail sweeping slowly behind him, the white tip casting light in the darkness. Large eyes pinned her waiting for her to answer before they left off.

(Love is an open door! I really felt like saying that because that's how I feel about these two!)

"Umm, well, I don't know. Anywhere our paws take us I guess. No where specific. Where do you want to go?" She mewed nervously. Snow-whisker didn't know why she was nervous. Jaggedfang was just a warrior, who she was going out into the forest with in the middle of the night. No, she could see why she was nervous.

The large tom, gestured her forward with his tail and sat back to wait for her to continue. "Nope, this was your idea" he replied jokingly, "You first." He raised an eyebrow when he realised her nervousness. While he wouldn't hurt her, he could see why she mightbe intimidated. Letting his breath out on a gruff sigh, he shook his head, "Don't be nervous sweet, I'm not as bad as I look, ruggedly handsome yes, but not dangerous." There was a joking undertone to his voice as he watched her.

"I'm not nervous, who said I was nervous. Umm let's go to the river first. Yeah! The river!" The words tumbled out of her mouth. She smiled, hoping he wouldn't hate her suddenly, although she doubted he would. "Come on Jaggedfang! Let's go!" Snow-whisker started hopping towards the forest entrance, hoping that Jaggedfang was following.

Shaking his head Jaggedfang trotted along beside her. She managed to both confuse and intrigue him with her actions and nervousness. He wasn't used to that. Grinning to himself, the black tom stayed by her side as they crossed the Talonclan terrain and reached the steadily flowing river. During leafbare this river was often frozen solid, this night however, chunks of ice floated downstream. Any other cat would love that fact, making it cold but possible to swim in. He shuddered at the thought, eyeing the cold water suspiciously. "..Are you going to.. swim?" He asked Snowwhisker incredulously.

[Deku]

Snow-whisker looked down at the river and marveled at the beauty of the rushing water. "Of course I'm not swimming in this water. I don't want to catch white cough." but even as she said this she wanted to, just to impress Jaggedfang. He seemed surprised that she would even think about swimming. 'Maybe he doesn't like to swim.' She thought.

He cleared his throat before resuming his normal confident self. "Well.. good! Wouldn't want you getting sick". Still eyeing the water warily, the black tom kept his distance from it as he traveled its length. Turning around, he flicked his tail at her welcoming, "C'mon sweet, don't want you to get whitecough." Please don't try and impress me he thought as he saw her thoughts through her eyes.
