The silence between them left a smile on his face. He enjoyed being in the company of others. Especially right now. He felt welcomed. There wasn’t an awkward feeling between them. A future friendship possibility? His ears perked up at her question. Who? He swallowed a lump of air. “W-well…” he turned his gaze over to her, “I don’t really… spend time with anyone” he felt embarrassed as he actually said it, “I mean, It’s not that I don’t want too…” he stumbled over his words.
He chuckled as he realized how silly he sounded. “Well, due to me being the only kit. I spent a lot of time with my parents. I didn’t focus on many friends with the other kits in the nursery den. I was just happy being around my parents. When they passed away I was obviously devastated… I went into my apprenticeship with my primary focus to get through it all. I’m sure other apprentices wanted to talk and play with me… but I didn’t… I didn’t really socialize when growing up and I didn’t know how to… So I just trained and trained and then I became a warrior and...” he paused and swallowed and took a breath, “eight moons later, here I am! Just me… So me speaking with you and choosing to leave with you, makes a really big impact on me” he felt like he didn’t need to include the last part, but he was an honest cat.
He turned and smiled at her. He didn’t feel weird about it and he didn’t want her to feel weird. His eyes opened as he suddenly realized that he may have done just that. “I-I’m sorry… I didn’t meant to impose that on you. I don’t want you to think that you’ve been burdened to being my only friend… I-if we are even friends that is” he nervously laughed to himself. Oh man, this was not how friendship starts! “I mean, we don’t have to be friends. I’m fine if we’re not… I’ll just… stop” he turned his attention to the ground and kept walking. Giving her a moment to process what he said in a nervous fit.
