ROUND ONE HAS BEGUN. I'M SORRY I DIDN'T WAIT FOR EVERYONE TO POST.
The cats all slept that night, unnerved by the cold-blooded of Icestar, and then the rogue who had cried out his innocence so desperately, still struggling for his life which was damned to the eternal depths of slumber. Whether he was going to StarClan, the Dark Forest, or some other unknown afterlife, it wouldn't be known to the living cats. Uneasiness now rippled among the cats who resided in the TalonClan cave, their bones chilled by horror.
but not all slept that night.
Spidershine had been sleepless, unable to remove the image of Tiger's jerking body from her head, the warm crimson liquid of life drawn by the cold fangs of her Clanmates. She closed her eyes, taking in a shaky breath of air to calm herself. There was no way Tiger was the murderer; he had revolted too much for that, shown so much valour to keep himself alive in the last few moments before his fate was sealed. The young rogue could not have been the killer. No, it just couldn't have been. The black-and-white cat gazed out at the sullen glow of the moon...and suddenly, she was shoved to the ground, a heavy paw pressed onto her throat.
Panicked eyes stared up at length of the leg that the paw belonged to, and it widened in the same fury and fear that Tiger had displayed in the last few moments of his life. The murderer! She wanted to cry out, but the paw only leant heavier onto her airpipe, choking her, while another paw pressed her muzzle shut. Spidershine was doomed to silence! She tried to thrash, kicking out her legs as hard as she could, but stopped as soon as she felt claws piercing her throat.
"Thank you very much for sparing those herbs for me, dearest medicine cat. It was much appreciated...not really," the murderer's voice was low and quiet, but held every bit of malice that befitted a maniacal villain. "You will no longer save ANYONE!"
The defiant she-cat, despite the crushing weight on her neck, managed to wheeze out the last few words, "StarClan...has...told me...! Someone...KNOWS...your...misdeeds...!"
Spidershine saw the flash of terror in those murderous eyes, before the sickening crack echoed in the little cave she had been in.
Willowbranch awoke, sensing a disturbance in the air. Something wasn't right, and she could feel it deep within her bones; her experience as deputy had most definitely bestowed upon her these instincts. Unease pricking her pelt, the chocolate calico she-cat padded out of the den she had been offered graciously by the now-deceased Icestar. The poor leader had his kindness taken advantage of - it wasn't the best way to lose the final life.
Suddenly, her nose catches a strange scent, one that was too familiar to warriors who had been in battles... Blood! Maybe it was Icestar's and Tiger's blood that still lingered in the camp ground. Hailstorm and some of his warriors had buried the bodies somewhere, it seemed, though the blood still stained the ground. Willowbranch may have had animosity with Tiger, but she still felt bad for the tom - he was still too young to die such a gruesome death. And one would think Hailstorm would have been the murderer...
"Hello, pretty."
The calico whipped around, eyes wide, her muzzle opened to speak, "Who are y-"
...and she never spoke again.
The next morning, the cats awoke to the same horrified cry as the night before, only it was more bloodcurdling than the last.
"SPIDERSHINE AND WILLOWBRANCH ARE DEAD!"
The TalonClanners and outsiders rushed out at once, gathering to see the dead bodies of the two cats lying limp where Icestar and Tiger had once been. Two cats were murdered in a single night. TWO! And right after they had executed their suspect by majority vote? It was too much of a nightmare. Spidershine's head lolled at an awkward angle, with blood trickling out of her mouth, eyes glazed and half-closed...was that the mixed smell of herbs on her pelt?
Willowbranch looked a little like Icestar, except more with horror than fury, as if she had been taken by surprise. The front of her neck was torn, the beautiful white fur stained with dried blood that had flowed down the length of her body, eventually pooling as she fell onto her side. Her eyes, too, were transfixed in the moment of death.
"How can this be?"
"We executed Tiger! How can there still be dead cats?!"
"There is only one explanation," Hailstorm's commanding voice spoke quietly as he gazed sadly at the two bodies. "Tiger was, in fact, innocent; the murderer is still alive...but he has an accomplice."
Gasps rippled through the cats. There were TWO murderers among them, and they had escaped the first execution! The cats had killed an innocent rogue! The revelation led to some of them yowling in dismay, snarling at each other for the false accusations and the senseless reasoning. but Hailstorm was not finished, and he was certainly not in the mood for more arguing.
"Spidershine appeared to have given herbs to someone to save them from death, but in doing so, she sacrificed her own safety from the criminals. StarClan, save us all," the deputy's eyes hardened, and he swept the massed cats in the same cold glare as last night. "We must find the murderers before they take another one of us tonight!"
Instructions - Roleplay your cats' reactions, and vote for the next suspect. Please don't take too long. Keep in mind the rules from the front page.
