Life is Too Short Live it Up! [Rogue]

Rogue

Life for Heronpaw had been flying by lately. He was now nearly old enough to become a warrior, his robust features filling out even more over the past few moons. His round cheeked face broader than before and his shoulders more muscular. He was starting to look more and more like a warrior. Though his appearance may of been maturing, it had no influence however on Heronpaw's behavior he was still as wild and odd as ever.

Leaffall had arrived in Sunsetclan much to Heronpaw's delight. He enjoyed the cooler days and watching their neighboring border trees starting to change colors. He thought it was fascinating and beautiful at the same time. Now as he made his way from camp in the early rays of morning sunshine, the robust tom enjoyed the cool leaffall breeze which tugged at his plush fur. Raising his nose to the air he takes a deep breath, his nose filling with a array of smells. Suddenly he scents a mouse amongst the grass. Dropping down he stalks off after it, his white tipped tail waggling as he went. He finally spots the brownish creature ahead and pauses. Wiggling his haunches he pounces only to land face first in the grass and sand below. "omf!" He exclaims in surprise, rising back to his paws and shaking himself off. He shrugs his shoulders unconcerned with his failure.

Cloudpaw sat a few tail-lengths away, hidden in the long grass and watching the tom with amusement shining in her amber eyes. The gray and white she-cat knew who Heronpaw was, but she hadn't really spoken to the silver-gray cat before. She had heard the other apprentices whisper about his odd behavior when they thought that no one was listening, but she had always brushed it off. There was no such thing as odd behavior in her mind, just being yourself.

A loud "omf!" drew the she-cat's attention and she let out a rumbling purr as the round tom face-planted in the grass and sand. The mouse that he had been after darted away, heading right for where Cloudpaw was hiding. Her instincts taking over, she sprang from her cover and trapped the mouse beneath her paws. She gave it a quick nip on the neck, and then she sat up, the limp brown body dangling from her jaws as she flicked her ears at Heronpaw.

Rogue

Heronpaw sat up slowly shaking sand from his plush pelt. Blinking his big round vivid green gaze he lets out a purr as he notices Cloudpaw appear from amongst the grasses and catch the pesky mouse who'd thwarted his attempts at catching it. " Nice catch!" He exclaims rising back to his sturdy paws and padding closer to the she-cat. He'd never spoken to her before but silly things like that had never stopped the tom before. " I thought he was gone for good!" He adds whiskers twitching some. He knew full well that he was clumsy, but it didn't really bother him. " Good thing you were there to catch him." He adds giving her a warm smile and sitting his haunches down in the sand and grass. He brushes sand from his nose where he had face planted earlier his vivid gaze watching her happily. It was very rare to find Heronpaw in a bad mood, very rare indeed. " Your Cloudpaw right?" He adds wondering if he'd gotten the she-cat's name correctly.

Cloudpaw let out a rumbling purr and tried to speak, but the mouse in her mouth muffled her words. Slightly embarrassed, she dropped the fresh-kill and tucked her tail neatly over her paws. "Yep, that's me!" she meowed, smiling back at the tom. "And you're Heronpaw!" The she-cat decided not to mention that she had heard about him from the other apprentices, so she picked up the mouse and padded closer to the silver-gray tom, dropping it at his paws. "Here, this is yours. I just happened to pounce on it when it slipped away from you. You can have the credit for it." Cloudpaw grinned at him, and at the same time her stomach rumbled loudly. She pressed her ears flat against her head; she hadn't eaten breakfast before leaving the camp, and it was coming back to haunt her.

Rogue

Heronpaw nods his head eagerly at the sound of his name. " Yup that would be my name." he says, vivid green eyes gleaming. He watches as she brings the mouse over and drops it by his white paws. Blinking some he looks to it and then her as she spoke. " That's really nice of you Cloudpaw." he says giving her an appreciative purr. Then he hears her belly rumble and he chuckles softly. " How about you come back to camp with me and we can get some prey to eat?" He suggests, his own belly starting to rumble as well. He giggles and hops to his sturdy paws, his tail tickling her ear as he does so. " Whatacha say?" he adds eagerly. " You coming? I'm pretty hungry too as you can probably tell." He adds grinning as his belly rumbles once more like an angry bear. He scoops up the mouse in his jaws tossing it up in the air, and catching it just barely. His vivid green eyes shifting back to her hopefully. he loved having company, no matter who it was. He just like the companionship of others. but it was even better when they were around the same age, since he was less likley to scare them off with all his energy.

Cloudpaw swatted at Heronpaw's ear playfully, waving her tail in delight. "Okay," she meowed happily, bounding up to stand beside the other apprentice. She loved making new friends, and since she was kind of low in that department currently, she was more than happy to spend some time with Heronpaw. She liked the tom's energy and friendliness, and the way that he took everything in stride.  She sensed that he liked her company, and she liked his too.  She looked into his hopeful green gaze and purred softly, brushing her pelt up against his soft one. "Let's go, then."

Rogue

Heronpaw laughs when Cloudpaw bats at his ear. His gaze blazing happily when she agreed to come with him. When she reached him, he purrs bumping shoulders with her before starting forward. His maw set with a cheery smile, the tom starts them back towards camp, sturdy paws kicking up sand as he went. " Rwac ya bach!" He says his words jumbled by the mouse he carried in his jaws. He starts to bound forward, glancing back to see if she would join in, eager to stretch his limbs.

Despite Heronpaw's words being muffled by the mouse in his jaws, Cloudpaw understood that he wanted to race her back to camp. He bounded forward, and she flicked the tip of her smooth tail, her muscles instinctively bunching under her glossy pelt. She loved to run, and she darted forward, racing after her Clanmate. The wind whistled past her ears and her slender paws kicked up dirt and sand as she raced the other apprentice back to camp. At some point she drew level with him, and they ran side-by-side, leaping over driftwood and rocks. As they drew closer to the camp, Cloudpaw realized that she was laughing out loud.

Heronpaw flashes a grin around his prey at Cloudpaw as she started to race him. His vivid gaze sparkling as he pushes against the soft sand with his white paws, sand and grass flying into the air behind him. Suddenly Cloudpaw is level with him an they are running neck and neck the camp not far ahead. At the last moment she shoots in front of him and he laughs too, stumbling a little as he does so. He comes to a sliding halt when they reach the camp's entrance nearly tumbling into her. Shaking sand from his fur he drops down his mouse so he can laugh some more. " You won!" He says panting some, completely okay with his loss. Sneezing sand from his nose he beams at her, " C'mon lets go find something to eat." He says scooping his mouse back up and turning to enter the camp.

Cloudpaw purred as she watched Heronpaw scoops the mouse back up. She may not be a great swimmer, but she was a decent runner. The other apprentice had given her a run for her money during that last fox-length of the race, however. She followed him into the camp, her ears twitching at the barrage of sounds that assaulted them as soon as they entered. The kits were playing outside of the nursery, battering each other with soft paws and emitting high-pitched squeals. A couple veteran warriors were sitting on the other side of camp, their paws tucked under their tails and their heads bent close together, deep in conversation. SunsetClan was already wide awake and bustling.

Heronpaw seemed at ease with the hustle and bustle of camp. His white tipped tail waving through the air behind him as he lead the way over to the fresh kill pile. Luckily for them a hunting patrol had just dropped off their quarry giving them a decent choice of prey to pick from. Tossing their mouse on the pile, Heronpaw beams at her. " I think I'm going to go with a nice pike." He says rummaging through the pile to take a silver scaled fish. " What are you hungry for?" He asks a paw laying on his chosen pike. His vivid green eyes watching her, rounded skull tilted to one side in a slightly comical manner.

Cloudpaw studied the pile of fresh-kill, trying to decide what she was in the mood for. She could feel Heronpaw's bright gaze on her, and for some reason her gray and white pelt grew hot. She shifted from paw to paw for a moment before finally reaching out and snatching Heronpaw's mouse off of the top of the pile. "I'll eat your fearsome prey," she purred, flicking his ear with her tail as she kept her paw on top of the mouse.

Rogue

Heronpaw laughs a little. " More like pesky prey." He says, whiskers twitching as he smiled at her. Once Cloudpaw had her chosen prey, he turns and glances around the busy camp. It seemed every direction he looked there was some sort of commotion. Rather it be gossiping elders or wrestling kits. but after a brief moment of glancing around the robust tom finds an empty patch of sand off on the edge of camp. " Over here!" He says scooping his fish up, and nearly dropping the slippery creature. He chuffs with amusement and starts to pad to the empty patch of sand. Once there he flops down into the sand and lays the pike between his sturdy paws. His vivid green eyes looking up at her happily.

Cloudpaw followed Heronpaw to the patch of sand that he had chosen, purring with delight as her paws sank into it. The sand was warm, heated by the sun, and as she flopped down beside Heronpaw she felt the warmth soak into her gray and white pelt. Pulling the mouse closer to her, she began to eat, flicking her tail back and forth in pleasure as the savory taste flooded her mouth.

Taking a large bite of his pike Heronpaw purrs. " Ah! Delicious!" He exclaims his vivid eyes looking over at her. " How's your mouse?" He inquires his round broad skull tilting as he looks at her. His white tail tip flickering around behind him. His whiskers twitching as he smiles sideways at her. He takes a second large bite of pike while he awaits her answer licking his maw clean of silver scales. Enjoying the warm sand on his belly Heronpaw, glances around the camp.
