Waiting out the storm (tagged)

[Whiteleaf]

Yabo felt warmth as he watched her finish the fresh-kill she had brought them. "Ok, I'll see you later today then!" he mewed in response to Lightening with a smile. The tom gave her cheek a lick before stopping at the entrance of the den. Bracing himself to leave the warmth of the den, he gave her a wave with his tail, and then slipped outside.

OCC: Yup!

[Asher]

Lightning purred as she saw her mate disappear in the snow. "Stay safe!" It's probably freezing out there! There was a blizzard last night. Lightning started to go out to hunt but something stopped her. Why do I still feel so sick inside. I'm not myself today. She walked out of the warm den and sat facing the sun. She knew this feeling. It had happened before. Are those the tiny kicks of kits? I know they are. I didn't think it would happen so soon! She rushed after Yabo, gasping with each breath. "I have to tell him the news! but what if he travels faster than me?"

[Whiteleaf]

"I'll do the best I can!" he called back to her, before heading back to his old den. It conveniently wasn't too far away from Lightening's den, as he was already there a little after sunhigh. It would've been shorter if Yabo hadn't had to trudge through the cold snow, which was also slightly blinding because of the sun. He went inside one last time, taking in the familiar surroundings, he finally slipped out of den and started to head back.

[Asher]

Lightning broke into a trot. Trying her best to follow Yabo's tracks, nut it was starting to snow again. They were being covered up. Didn't I just come from this direction? Mouse-dung! I'm lost! Lightning sat down to rest and licked up some of the snow to quench her thirst. Suddenly, she heard rustling behind her. "Yabo!" she cried. It wasn't Yabo. A huge badger, covered with snow was growling at her...

[Whiteleaf]

Unfortunately, on the way to the rogue's new den he was sharing, it started to snow a little heavily. So, Yabo began to quicken his pace to a trot so he could get shelter fast. As he was starting to get close to the forest, he heard a cat's yowl. With alarm, he immediately raced right for the sound to see what was going on. What if it was Lightening? Even though it was difficult, the black and white tom managed to track down the source of the yowl, and his amber eyes widened in surprise when he saw his worst fear. Careful to keep downwind od the badger, he rounded it so he was by the tail. Yabo leaped onto the badgers back, digging his unsheathed claws in deeply. "Go!" he yowled to Lightening before batting the badgers ear.

[Asher]

Lightning gasped as Yabo leaped at the badger. She was still in shock at its surprise appearance. She heard squealing and looked near the badger. Behind it was a cave and three enormous badger pups sat there, staring in horror as their mother's blood splattered the snow. "No Yabo, don't!" It's trying to protect its pups! I walked near its cave by mistake. How would I feel if someone was near my kits? I would attack as well. She couldn't help but feel sorry for the badger. "Let's run away, Yabo! It's just protecting its pups!"

[Whiteleaf]

He was just about to try and claw the lumbering beast's beady eyes, but hesitated for a moment when he heard Lightening's call to him. Even though it was slightly against his instinct to protect, Yabo instead hopped off super quickly and made a beeline for his mate. "Come on, then! Hurry!" he mewed gruffly to the she-cat, nudging her gently. He wanted to get as far away as possible from the badger and her young.

[Asher]

Lightning hobbled after her mate through the woods. I hope he doesn't notice how slow I am! She looked over her shoulder. "The badger is not following us. We're safe." That was very, very close. I shouldn't have been so clumsy but I was too focused on getting to Yabo...

[Whiteleaf]

As the two made their way through the snowy forest, he kept on looking back to see If they were being followed by the badger, or anything else for that matter. Thankfully, they weren't, but he did noticed that Lightening was lagging a little bit behind. Yabo nodded, mewing, "That was a close call." but he then turned his slightly concerned gaze to her. "but are you alright?"

[Asher]

Lightning turned toward him. "Listen, we got carried away last night and now, I'm expecting kits." She settled down to rest. "That's why I was following you, to tell you the news." What if these new kits leave the Clan like my last litter? No, I won't let them go near the Clans.

OOC: I'm playing Crisp, Sakuratree is playing Hoot, and Daisy is playing Twirl. Now we just need someone to revive Breezy!

[Whiteleaf]

His dark amber eyes widened in complete surprise when Lightening told him the news. Yabo was going to be a father! Just yesterday, he was a "bachelor" with nothing to worry about but his own skin, and how he has his own family. "That's great!" he purred, happy but slightly apprehensive.

OCC: ok, hopefully someone will revive him!

[Asher]

Lightning nodded. "I just hope they don't decide to go to the Clans like my last litter..." she trailed off, praying she wouldn't cry. "Come on. We shouldn't stay in the cold much longer or we will get sick." She led the way to her den, the den where she would have another litter.

[Whiteleaf]

"They won't need to go to any clan, since I'm here," he mewed reassuredly with a small smile. "You don't have to worry about that." Yabo then quickly got up and trudged through the snow, following her to the den. He slipped inside under the tree root.

[Asher]

Lightning followed him under the tree root and saw the empty pile of prey. "Fox dung! When I went looking for you, I forgot to hunt!" How could I have been so stupid? I have to go get us some more food in case there is another blizzard! Otherwise we could starve! She started to get up and felt her legs protest. "I'll go hunt."

[Whiteleaf]

He turned to face her, wishing Lightening wouldn't get so upset because he didn't like seeing so worried. "It's fine, it was only because of the badger!" Yabo told her, padding over to the entrance of the den. Peering outside, he braced himself for the cold. "You stay here, I'll go out and hunt for us."
