October Gathering '14 ~ Leafbare Season

Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine… Mothcloud paced up and down her gathered line of cats for what was the fourth time, meticulously counting, making sure every pelt in line was who she had called forward and that every cat was presentable for the soon to be gathering. Yes, this was a big gathering for her; a huge one in fact, as she was expected to lead the clan into the clearing this time. Everything had to go just right, of course it did! The last time they arrived, they had been the last clan there, much to her mortification as they many eyes turned on their group of pelts, possibly mentally dismissing Midnightclan as the clan who was not organized, not ready, and not run well. That had been her mistake, she should have gathered them together sooner, much sooner! It was ok though, because after her mistake, now she was paying extreme attention to detail and had gathered the cats over an hour ahead of schedule to prepare. Yes, things would go well this time, she was sure of it!

"Mothcloud… are we ready to leave yet? We have been gathered here for quite some time," Ambereye asked the she-cat causally as she passed by him. He wasn't meaning to be rude or challenging, but he could pick up that the deputy seemed nervous about something, and so he hoped to possibly wake her up a little out of her frantic daze. Whatever she was looking for as she paced up and down between them, he couldn't see it. It was the same as every other gathering. Well, except for this time, Mothcloud was gathering them around, of course. "I'm sure we'll make a good impression on the other clans this time around," he commented with a slight nod, voicing her worries.

"Wha-? Oh, yes, yes, we will leave soon. Starclan, look at the time, we can't be late again…" Mothcloud cast a quickened glance at the rising moon and then took one last look over the gathered cats, stiffening a little. "Ok, is every cat ready? We will be leaving now. Remember to stay in line, don't let any cat fall behind!" She instructed with a nod before taking the lead towards the Pond of Truce. The journey was a straight shot North through the fields and bordering along the right bank of the river, as usual. The dark tortoiseshell cast a glance at the banks to other side to see if any Stormclanners were making their way already, but she could see none. By the time they had reached the Pond of Truce, they were very early, with the scent of the air open and clear, indicating that no other clans were yet present. Early… thank Starclan, they were early this time! Well, how could they not be, considering how much preparation she had taken? Breathing a sigh of relief, Mothcloud led the cats through the empty clearing and made her way toward the pond. A jolt in her stomach suddenly reminded her of the one thing she had been distracted from all this time: in this gathering, she was going to have to give the addresses that Bramblestar had always given. She had never done so before. The deputy took her place by the pond and her mind raced as she quickly tried to arrange all of that she was going to say. It had been a last minute change, and she knew from her last address to the clan without the leader, that things hadn't gone so well in her favor. She fretted over getting it right this time.



***MIDNIGHTCLAN CATS HAVE ENTERED THE GATHERING***

Mudpatch checked her fur again, it was the fourth time in less then five minutes, she was ancious to this gathering, it seemed like ages since she had gone to one, her white fur was well groomed and she purred happy with the result of her dedication, Mothcloud seemed stressed but Mudpatch did not blame the deputy, poor cat had so many responsabilities throwed at her back so suddenly, it was no surprise that she was so desparated.
They were the first clan to get to the Pound Of Truce, Mudpatch could not feel prouder, the white she cat explored the place a little noticing small changes and finally sat down to wait for the other clans to arrive, her tail wiped with excitment.

MidnightClan's orderly line had Finchpaw stumbling along, keeping pace easily but struggling to fall into the stride of Mothcloud's leadership. So their deputy would take charge after all, and lead them to the gathering. The medicine cat apprentice's mind drifted lazily to thoughts of Mothcloud as a potential leader. She just couldn't picture the jumpy she-cat becoming Mothstar, but someday it was bound to happen, right?

Leaping ahead of her mentor and breaking the line, Finchpaw bounded after Mothcloud. They were the first clan to arrive, which gave the apprentice a bit of time to settle in before she was expected to mingle with the other medicine cats. "Mothcloud!" She chirped brightly, wreathing around the deputy with a playful glint in her devilish eyes. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll do fine." It wasn't as though there was much to be said. Anything that Bramblestar had to stay to the other clans was usually just pleasantries, and although the prophecy the young medicine cat apprentice was given hung over MidnightClan's heads, if Bramblestar had decided to even let the other clans know about it, he hadn't shared this information with her.

Really, there was no way Mothcloud could go wrong, although it would be admittedly interesting to see her falter where Finchpaw was sure she would've never faltered. Maybe instead of a medicine cat, she should have gone after Mothcloud's job as deputy. but that was all relative. Such a genius she-cat would have fit well in any position. "Your fur's sticking up on your left side," Finchpaw remarked with a friendly air of bemusement, knowing how much the comment might throw the deputy into a frenzy. "Best calm your nerves! I'm going to go look for other apprentices!" And with that, Finchpaw left the deputy alone, having said her part, and started to look for other apprentices to speak with.

StarClan knew the cheeky she-cat could use a friend or two.

***LEAFCLAN CATS HAVE ENTERED THE GATHERING***

This would be an interesting gathering.

Froststar had been having a long and arduous moon. Now that Leafbare was fully upon them, bellies were running empty and tensions were running high, and to make matters worse, they were facing an onslaught of new Clan growth. The aftermath of Silverstar's reign seemed to have left the clan's values shattered, and the white tomcat leader of LeafClan couldn't help but lash his tail with irritation as he thought of forbidden relationship after forbidden relationship that he had broken up over the past few moons.

It was getting to be too much, and he had half a mind to ask the other leaders how their clans were faring in this regard... but he didn't want them to seem weak, and so he would wait for them to speak before saying his piece.

"LeafClan, let's go!" He ordered brightly despite his anxiety, and set off toward the Pond of Truce.

They were the second clan to arrive, it seemed, but although MidnightClan was present, Froststar did not see Bramblestar anywhere. He approached the deputy Mothcloud inquisitively and dipped his head to her. "Mothcloud, nice to see you." He purred. "Bramblestar wasn't able to make it tonight?" He wondered if something was troubling the leader.

Moonpelt was waiting together with another cats to go to the gathering, he didn't knew what to do with this free time, he could always annoy Froststar, but that could be dangerous, so he decided to simple wave his tail around like a snake, eventually they departed, the pond of truce was already ocuped by Midnightclan, 'maybe there is some trouble I can cause?' He thought excited, he never left a gathering without causing at least a little mess, 'let the fun begin!'

Poppyshine of Leafclan:

The black she-cat followed closely behind her leader. Her anxiety had grown almost out of control. She took a deep breath, even chancing a look to her leader. She knew he wasn't happy with her. And honestly she wasn't fully impressed with her actions either. Did she love Blackcloud, yes. but she loved her clan more. And these kits would do the same, she hoped.

As she approached the Pond of Truce close to Froststar, Poppyshine felt Thornfur's tail reach over her shoulders. He had been there for her when no one seemed to be, again. She knew they were strained still, and still didn't really talk but his silent support was good enough for her right now. She sat herself down, close to the leaders. She wanted to catch Goldenstar when others were less likely to overhear.

Thornfur of Leafclan:

The tom watched his niece closely as they made their way to the gathering. Usually he would have argued a queen going to a gathering in leaf-bare, but Froststar had made his decision and there was nothing to be done but follow it. Thornfur hated what he had done to the small queen, but the code was meant to followed by everyone and she was no different. He had tried to think of ways to talk to her, but every time he did his anger rose again. He just couldn't stop the feeling of betrayal. Had he not raised her to love and cherish Leafclan? Even under Silverstar's leadership? He had thought she would grow to be strong and loyal, yet here she was. Her stomach was growing slowly.

The large tom looked to her with concern. He could see her tail tucked completely under her belly as she followed Froststar closely. He stayed close to her too though. He wanted to make sure she was safe at this gathering. If he wasn't mistaken Blackcloud should be there along with his mate. His eyes moved to his leader. He wondered what Goldenstar would do once Poppyshine told her the truth. He reached his tail out, placing it on Poppyshine's should for comfort. Sitting close beside her, waiting for the others to arrive. Mainly Stormclan.

(Oh yes! My father-son gathering!)

Sorrelwhisker of MidnightClan:
Sorrelwhisker padded into the clearing with the other MidnightClan cats. They were the first ones to arrive so Sorrelwhisker went to find a spot that would allow him to watch the other clans arrive. Actually, his real reason for sitting up here was so he could watch his kits arrive. It was their first gathering and he wanted to see how they would react to the other clans.

Hawkpaw of MidnightClan:
Hawkpaw bounced along behind the other MidnightClan warriors. This was his first gathering since he had been made an apprentice and he was very excited to meet the other clans and leaders. He also hoped to meet some new friends.

Batpaw of LeafClan:
Batpaw padded in behind Froststar. He hoped this would be his last gathering as an apprentice, and maybe the next time the clans met under the full moon he would have his warrior name.

Finchpaw scanned the gathering, looking for victims- friends - she corrected herself. After the last gathering, her father had scolded her, telling her that by sitting only with the medicine cats with her nose in the air, she would make every cat think she was unapproachable.

Well, what does he know, she had thought at the time, but now, looking at the cats mingling, she definitely didn't want to disappoint her father. After all, she was no cripple or weakling. If she had wanted to become a warrior, she could have easily outmatched anyone here. Finchpaw's black and white paws led her to a strong looking stranger- a LeafClan apprentice called Batpaw.

She cut the tom off from LeafClan, breaking his trail as he followed Froststar, her devilish grin glimmering all the way through the depths of her moss green eyes. but, now that she had found someone to talk to, her words briefly failed her, and she stammered as though shy. "N-nice night, isn't it!" She said loudly, her tail waving with determination.

Squirrelfire
A bushy, ginger she-cat was bouncing along happily a few paces away from Sorrelwhisker. This was her third Gathering as a warrior -- nothing momentous there, but her kits -- oh, her kits, it was their first Gathering, being new apprentices. She exchanged a glance with her mate, a joy in her eyes at knowing that they had raised good cats from their kithood together. Squirrelfire nodded to Sorrelwhisker, walking off away from him once they were at the meeting place. They were the first Clan here. Even with as much as she loved her mate, she still walked off, sitting towards the middle to seem more approachable to any cats of other Clans -- the social she-cat much wanted a conversation.

Maplepaw
Maplepaw was ecstatic once she was picked to go to the Gathering -- both her and her brother, Hawkpaw. This was her very first, and she could finally show off that she was a proud apprentice of MidnightClan -- and meet other Clan cats, and hear new stories! She still stuck close to her brother, though, knowing that her parents probably wouldn't want their kits hopping about their paws the entire Gathering. The Pond of Truce is beautiful! she thought, too excited to speak out loud when nearly no other cats were. The small ginger cat -- almost an exact copy of her mother -- looked around with wide eyes, waiting for another Clan to come in -- and LeafClan soon did.

Badgerpelt
The black and white tom followed close behind his deputy towards the front of the group, wanting to be one of the first to step into the neutral territory. He noticed that none of the other Clans were there, but wondered in the back of his mind if Stonefeather would show with StormClan. She must have just had her kits, but they might have been old enough for her to still come. I shouldn't want to see her anyway. She was my mate, but that is not allowed, and we don't meet anymore. She wouldn't want to see me anyway. Badgerpelt let out a small grunt and pulled away to the very edge of the meeting place, hiding in the shadows -- but even in the dark his bright green eyes reflected the moonlight.

Stormpaw
The gray apprentice was getting older, and in the back of his mind hoped that in the next few Gatherings, he would be coming here with his warrior name. He had been lucky enough to go to the past three Gatherings of his apprenticeship, though he never really made friends. This time, he was going to try harder, and upon entering the Pond of Truce he saw that only MidnightClan had made it before them. He debated between sitting to the side or in the center, but ended up choosing a spot right near where most of the cats entered. Then, maybe cats would see him first and want to strike up a conversation.

Hollywhisper
The black she-cat smiled to herself. She had missed the past few Gatherings due to her kits, but now as they were nearing apprenticeship, she had left them in the care of another queen while she was chosen to go to the Gathering. Her tail twitched, and she wondered if she should be social or quiet. She recalled some time from her apprenticeship, where a warrior told her that the queens usually met up around the sides but still in the middle. Kits are an easy conversation starter, she thought, sitting, as following the memory, to the sides of the center. She still had a faint milk scent, though it was fading, but she still hoped it was enough for other queens to notice and then, she could make a friend or two.

Pebblestream of midnightclan

Pebble stream had walked in behind most of his clan. He usualally outgoing tom always tended to be quiet at gatherings. He walked up to mudpatch. "Mudpatch, wait up" he yelled while trying to catch up to the she cat. He managed to reach her in time to sit down next to her. "It's been a while since you've come to a gathering. Are you excited?" He mewed while looking up at the moon. He was glad mudpatch was able to come to the gathering. Without mallow feather by his side like every gathering he felt lost. but, mudpatch was there to fill in that empty void. As much as he missed mallow feather there was no getting her back. He needed to move on. Pebble stream had came to a desicion. He had to move on, without mallow feather. He couldn't mourn over her his whole life. He needed to have a new family. Mallow feather would understand. She was watching over him right now. He was proud to have such a wonderful mate.

"Pepplestream." Mudpatch purred welcoming the chocolate tom. "Of course I'm excited! It's been so long since I have come here! So much catching up to do!" She said waving her tail around and twitching her whiskers, she looked over the tom seeing his distant eyes. "You miss her" she said matter of fact, the white cat knew it was true, and this place probably brougth him a lot of memories. "I'm sure she miss you too and the kits" Mudpatch looked at him.

***STORMCLAN CATS HAVE ENTERED THE GATHERING***

Goldenstar's fur fluffed against the stiff air, feeling the cold seep into her short pelt. This was her fist gathering since her kits were born, was she really ready? I cannot make Frogleap go again, especially not on such short notice. She stood, giving her pelt another shake before padding into the camp clearing. She scanned the gathered StormClanners, silently counting how many were planning on coming. She was relieved by her clan's numbers. Even though it was leafbare, StormClan still stood strong. 

"Let's head out!" She called. She could feel her heart beating in her chest as nervousness rolled into a ball in her stomach. Why am I so nervous? It is just the other leaders, and it is not like this is my first time. Her paws were steady as she climbed through the cold air towards the pond of truce. She followed the path she had always been used to, knowing that it would probably help heal, or at least hide, her nerves. When she finally reached the pond, she was relieved that she had not been the last one to arrive. With a easy bound, she leapt onto the boulder with the other leader, and another she-cat who she quickly recalled of as MidnightClan's deputy, Mothcloud. "Greetings," She mewed to all, but her eyes were trained on Mothcloud. Was Bramblestar alright?

*Birchleaf of MidnightClan*

Birchleaf kneaded the ground, anxious to get moving to head to the gathering. This was her first gathering as a warrior! This was a big deal for her and she didn't want to screw it up. Especially since it seemed that Mothcloud was leading them to the gathering this moon. The she-cat was unsure why Mothcloud was taking Bramblestar's place but this was a matter that didn't involve her.

She was more than happy when they were on there way towards the Pond of Truce, happier yet that MidnightClan was the first there. As the clan dispersed she found a good spot to sit and watch the other cats arrive. As she was watching LeafClan arrive her heart skipped a beat as she saw that Moonpelt was among them. She waited for the right time before heading towards him. "Hello Moonpelt." She mewed casually.

He heard the soft meown directed at him without really knowing who was calling, until he saw the familiar white and black pelt. "Hello there Birchleaf" The white tom purred to the she cat. "It's been a while, how have you been?" Moonpelt meowed trying to build a conversation, he hadn't gone much to the border lately, it was leaf bare after all.

Midnightclan:

Strutting after his leader the young tom held his head high. It was his first gathering since being made an apprentice so many moons ago. The dark tabby tom twitched his white whisker's in delight as they neared the Pond of Truce, hoping the stories he had heard were true. As they entered he was disappointed to see that they were the first cats to enter, but shrugged his massive shoulders. No matter, he would just have to wait a few moments. Almost on cue cats began to pour through and he scented the air, quickly picking up Leafclan and Stormclan. He was interested in meeting the other clans considering he had only gotten the chance through border patrols, and even then it was usually just a glance.

Moving forwards the large apprentice made his way through the throng of cats and began to pick out some that he wished to talk to. Spotting a grey tom he plastered on a genuine smile and strode towards him. "Hey," He meowed, his voice light. "I'm Hawkpaw, nice to meet you!"

Stormpaw
The gray tom turned as another cat with dark tabby fur approached him. His tail twitched in excitement. It was just what he wanted, someone to talk to! He stood up to meet the cat so he didn't have to walk as far -- and so he wasn't right by the entrance again. "Hey Hawkpaw! I'm Stormpaw," he meowed in reply, eyes glinting. The tom was large, like Stormpaw, and they seemed to have the same type of stature. They seemed almost like twins with different pelt colors, in a way!
