It was, essentially, the sort of day that validated being alive. The sky stretched overhead, incredibly wide and impossibly blue; the silvery undersides of green-leaved birches whispered today in quiet communion as a delicate breeze vaulted through the world below. Spring had sprung, visible in the brilliant froth of new greenery that traced the path soft white paws plodded along, evident in the heady scent of new birth and verdant colors stretching from horizon to horizon. Even the breeze itself seemed more alive than usual; carrying the scents of life and rebirth, it played a lively game of hide-and-seek between the shadows and the light. It was a beautiful day - so why was Blossompaw so incredibly irritated?
The ginger and white tabby apprentice had no explanation for her emotions, except for the fact that she'd had no one to either verbally or physically thrash in a good while. It was one thing to be constantly disdainful of your halfblood Clanmates; another thing to actually be able to voice your opinions. Of course, so many in LeafClan looked down on the sort of judgmentalism that she exhibited. but really, who could blame her? In times of trouble, it was always those who had no torn loyalties that could be counted on most. She was just being herself, and if that meant that she was condescending and often cruel - well, so what? Those who hadn't been born of the purest blood shouldn't even be in LeafClan. Maybe that was why she was so annoyed today. Having to put up with the constant frailties of halfbloods was enough to drive even her sensible, sane parents bonkers.
Blossompaw's tail tip twitched in the faintest outward show of distaste. She had always been this way; she spent the last four seasons of her life consumed with disdain for half of Clan. Why was today taking such a toll? Gritting her teeth against another wave of annoyance, she turned in her walk, changing her heading to head towards the MidnightClan border. She was being a bit of a fool for such a clever girl, but for someone who lived utterly in the moment, she needed something to shock her to the present. Besides, she was blue-blooded LeafClan; what could ever prove a real problem for her? What was out there that she couldn't handle herself?
