I am not ready....why now? (OPEN BIRTHING THREAD)

     Deerflight couldn't stand how her belly stuck out. She could barely walk to the fresh kill pile. She hated feeling helpless when all her Clanmates were working so hard. 'Oh Moonpelt...what have we done?'  She felt the kits shift, then she sat down from the exertion of standing up. She knew the kits were coming soon, but why didn't they come out already?

OOC: Echo could you help me a little?

Flowerpool looked over the new queen and walked in her direction. "Are you alright dear?" She asked to Deerflight as she noticed the way the she cat seemed lost in thought. "You should not stress yourself, your kits will come soon." She meowed kindly and sat in front of the she cat meaning to confort her.

Deerflight knew that Flowerpool was trying to be kind, but she was too upset to be grateful. "Yeah I know. I just don't know if I can handle having kits. They take up a lot of time and I need to get back to helping the Clan. I hate feeling useless. They are just waiting on me and coming by to ask if I need anything when I should be helping the Clan and not being a burden!" Deerflight sighed. She felt better after her little rant. Then she felt bad. "I am so sorry Flowerpool, did I hurt your feelings? I was a little worked up."

[Isilme]

The she cat wasn't upset she knew how hormones worked at these times and she was used to it. "No Deerflight it's fine." She chuckled soft. "Every queen feels like this once in a while so it's completly okay." Flowerpool meowed gentle. "You think it will be long for them to be born?" The maine coon asked kindly.

Deerflight had a weird feeling. "Actually, I think right now." Then she yowled in pain. She spoke through gritted jaws. "Go..g-get Nigh-Nightpoppy...please." She couldn't stand the pain. It was like someone was running their claws on the inside of her belly. She was wishing for any bitter herbs to help her now.

Goldenstar had been pacing somewhat restlessly. Things had been quiet, except for the occasional mention of a forbidden relationship. It was too bad for Swallowbreeze to have become involved with a LeafClan tom, she could have such a great warrior. but despite her concerns with where her clan's loyalties lied, nothing had changed. Nothing had happened. And the waiting was making her a nervous wreck.

That was until she heard a scream coming from the nursery. The she-cat quickly got to her feet, her eyes wide. The golden feline raced to the nursery, and scrambled inside to see her sister in pain on the floor. "Deerflight, it will be over soon," Goldenstar mewed, though she was still panting for breath and fear scent rolled off her in waves. Usually, it was over soon. It was for her. but she had stood next to queens as they writhed in pain for nearly a whole day. She just hoped that Deerflight's birthing would be swift and easy.

Deerflght was vaguely aware of Goldenstar above her. She immediately felt better now the she was here. Goldenstar had already had a litter, so she already knew of the pain. Deerflight just kept thinking, 'Nightpoppy is coming, Nightpoppy is coming.' She needed some kind of herb desperately. 'Where is she?'

"Shh, breath deep Deerflight you need to keep calm." Flowerpool having give birth for two litters already was nearly an expertise in this. "Bite this stick will you? And breath deep." The maine coon grabed a rather firm stick and gave to the birthing queen, she just hoped everything was going to be alright and over soon.

Deerflight bit down on the stick and took some shallow, but deeper breaths. She felt some pressure lift and realized that she had just given birth to a kit. 'but I'm not done yet', she thought. She felt another release in pressure, now with only a little pain left. She knew she had another kit on the way, but she felt so drained. 'I can't do it', she thought, 'I just can't.' She just wanted to sleep. She stopped pushing and just laid there, half unconsious. She just wanted to sleep.

Goldenstar glanced up to Flowerpool, her eyes wide with worry. “Where is Nightpoppy? Is she out of camp or something?” Goldenstar asked the she-cat. This can’t be normal, this can’t be healthy, I know it hurts, but it cannot hurt this much-StarClan would never do that to us. “Flowerpool, are you sure that Deerflight is doing ok?” Goldenstar whispered, hoping that Deerflight was too preoccupied to listen. The golden she-cat did not want her sister to know how she was doing unless she was doing wonderfully. Goldenstar listened to Flowerpools instructions and hoped that the queen would be able to do the job of a medicine cat in this situation.

A kit fell onto the moss, and Goldenstar rushed to look at the little creature, staring in awe at the tiny kitten. She had a litter herself not too long ago, but she had all but forgotten how perfect newborns were. Another kit landed next to its sibling, and Goldenstar honestly hoped that there would only be two. but, based on Deerflight’s pain, it was not over yet. Goldenstar had just started to relax, believing that this would all be ok, when her sister stopped. She stopped pushing, stopped telling of the pain, she just laid there like she was a piece of prey. “Deerflight!” Goldenstar yelled. She touched her sister’s shoulder with her nose, trying to comfort her. “I know it is hard, but you need to keep going. There cannot be many more, please Deerflight. I would not be able to live with myself if I lost you.” She pleaded.

Deerflight heard her sister's pleas. She mewed softly and began to push, lightly. the pain came back, but it was minimal. She began to push harder, and when the pain was bad, she thought of her sister, Goldenstar, right above her. She pushed really hard. At the realease of pressure, she was so tired that she laid there, but she knew that she had no more kits left. She was a mother.

OOC: It's ok.... everyone has a life to get to. Thanks for replying now, though. Could she come check on the kits? Now I am just going to keep talking because I need to fill out the word count....Mid might yell at me. So Echo, how was your vacation?

Nightpoppy was napping peacefully when she heard her name being called.

"N-no. I don't want to get up," She mumbled, then flattened her ears to her head to try and block out the sound. It was as if she had completely forgotten she was a medicine cat and had an important job to do.

Again, only slightly quieter, she heard her name.

"Ugh! What is it? What do you want?" she groaned. Waking up usually wasn't this hard for her. She stood up slowly and tried to clear the grogginess in her head. Suddenly she realized she was a medicine cat. Nightpoppy's sleepiness disintegrated. She ran into the Nursery where her name was being called from and saw a tired looking new mother with 2 kits lying next to her.

Nightpoppy was too late. The birthing had already happened. She felt terrible. How could she apologize to the extent of sorry-ness she felt, especially now that she noticed their leader was in the den. Nightpoppy had to try.

"I am extremely sorry for not coming fast enough. Whatever help you need, I will do it to excuse my delay. Right after I check up on the kits." her fur burned with embarrassment, so she got right to work examining the kits.
