Smokepaw.

She slept in the far back corner of the apprentices den. Her legs twitched as she was dreaming of running by her mothers side. For a brief moment her heart welled with happiness and warmth. One hard leg twitch led to another and her foot gave a swift kick to the wall next to her. She sat straight up from her sleep and help in a yowl of slight pain. "Mother of star clan that hurt" she muttered, checking herself for any blemishes in her fur or chips on her nails. She stood up and shook herself off. It was still deep in the night. The earth was lightly cooled off with the sun being down for hours.

She sat the entrance of the apprentice den and noticed some fireflies dancing around the clearing. Her eyes soften with delight, but you could hardly tell with her stone expression. Her paws twitched as she thought about chasing them around. Her eyes began to glisten with anticipation. The majority of the clan; if not everyone, was asleep by now. She hadn't really played with anything lately. "It's only for a couple minutes..." she muttered to herself. Her hind end slowly lifted from the ground as she readied herself for a quick chase.

She hopped in the air as her paws glided past the floating balls of light. She made sure to not to hit the insects as she wanted to ensure they'd return. As fun as they were to chase around, they were beautiful to watch from a distance.

[Midnight]

"What are you doing?" Briarclaw yawned, approaching one of her apprentices. She'd meant it as a snap, something to instill the idea that Smokepaw should not be outside at this time, but upon being interrupted by the yawn, Briarclaw gave up. Besides, she was out this late, too, and it was wrong for a cat in a leadership position to be hypocritical. "I couldn't sleep, either, don't worry about it."

Flopping down near the apprentice, Briarclaw rested her chin on her paws and looked out at the vast land before her. She could see a brown speck in the distance with a bit of blue around it and knew it was the Pond of Truce. "Quite the beautiful sight at this time." The deputy quietly commented on what she was looking at, nodding toward it a bit.

While being distracted by the floating orbs before her, she did not notice a member of the clan come up behind her. She felt back to the earth with her tail bristled with what one would think is from being surprised, but in reality it was for embarrassment. She was able to recognize the voice as soon as her senses came too. "Briarclaw... I'm sorry, I just... It was a restless night..."she sputtered out. She quickly groomed her tail until everything was back in order. Her mentor laid near her and was staring off into the distance. She looked towards the blue spot with her comment and her eyes relaxed. "It is... I wonder if I'll ever be able to see it" she questioned out loud.

She sat in her place, her gaze in the same direction as Briarclaw's. She wasn't sure what to talk about next, her socialization was extremely dulled. Since it didn't seem pressing for her to return to her den; which she really didn't want to, she quickly searched for a topic to start off. "So... when is the next lesson?" she slightly turned her attention towards her mentor. Hoping it would be a solo lesson type of answer, but is usually a group lesson.
