Nightpaw was sitting just outside of camp, his amber eyes watching leaves flutter in the cool leaf-fall breeze. He batted half heartedly at a butterfly as it flew past his nose and shook his head. He had hardly been out of camp since becoming a 'paw, having not been assigned a mentor right away. He lazily pawed at the ground, making marks ground with thorn-sharp claws. The black tom lay down and rolled onto his back, staring up at the slowly moving clouds. He raised a paw up in front of his face and pretended to catch the fluffy white masses.

OOC: Sorry I have been losing track of all of my apprentices.

Adderwing saw her apprentice laying in the clearing. Poor little guy. He looks really bored. She sighed and jogged over to him. "Hey Nightpaw! Since you cleraly don't have anything to do. I could take you out on a quick training session. Maybe you would like to try some fighting moves?" That always perked apprentices up! A little fighting!

[Wolf]

Nightpaw rolled over, his amber eyes glinting suddenly with excitement. "Yes!" He mewed, suddenly energized by the idea of training. "That sounds great! Thank you Adderwing!" The black tom's fur was ruffled from laying down and still it prickled in anticipation for learning something new to brighten up his slow day.

"Come on! We can head over to this place I know. It is rather flat and will work well!" Adderwing twitched her whiskers slightly. She was already planning some training in her head. Sttarting with simple front paw swipe and moving onto the duck and twist.

Adderwing moved towards the camp entrance ready to head out. "Nightpaw are you ready?" She called back to her apprentice.

Nightpaw trotted excitedly after his mentor, his black ears pricked to listen carefully. "I'm so ready!" He answered Adderwing, speeding up a little to catch up with her. The sun beat down on his dark pelt and yet it couldn't curb his juvenile excitement towards training with his mentor.

As they headed out into the forest, Nightpaw couldn't help but let out a mew of awe at the forest around him. He hadn't been an apprentice for long so he still felt fascinated by everything every time he set paw out of camp.

"Come on follow me!" Adderwing lead her apprentice out into the mountains. It was beautiful.

They reached the small clearing, and she turned to face Nightpaw, "Okay! Time to train. We have plenty of room here for training."

OOC: Just reminding you. TalonClan is a mountainous area. Though I don't blame you. I make the same mistake!

(OOC: whoops I'm so used to forest cats!)

Nightpaw trotted excitedly after his mentor, gazing around as they set out into the rocky territory.

When they reached the clearing, Nightpaw's fur pricked with excitement as he faced his mentor. "What are we going to do first?" He asked, his tail waving behind him.

OOC: I know! SO many of the clans are in forests! I get so confused when RP-ing WhisperClan cats.

"Okay since this is your first session. We will start with some simple offensive and defensive moves. First," She continued on, "I will teach you the front paw swipe. It is simple, but very useful in a battle." Adderwing stood on her back legs balancing herself and did a strong swipe with her front paw. "Make sure you are balanced. If you aren't it won't work."

[Wolf]

Nightpaw watched Adderwing balance on her hind legs and swipe her paw in the air with expert strength and balance. He pushed himself up onto his hind legs, attempting to balance. He held himself up for a few heartbeats before crashing to the ground with a THUD as his shoulder hit the ground. The black tom pushed himself back up onto all fours and shook the dust off his dark fur before going back up onto his hind legs and this time managing to stay up long enough to make a swipe in the air with his front paw. "I did it!" He yowled triumphantly before teetering and falling back onto all four paws again.

"Wonderful! Now for something harder." Adderwing smiled and mewed. She was delighted that her apprentice was getting better. "Time for the half-turn belly rake. Now you need to be really careful with this one, because you can kill a cat with this one. It's not normal to teach an apprentice this move so early in training, but you need to know it just in case. Rouges won't fight fair and many clan cats won't either. If they try to kill you," She cut off the thought. It wasn't the best thing to say to an apprentice. "but for now we will start with just a kick instead of the rake." 

Adderwing tried to demonstrate, but it looked a little weird without another cat. "You need to slide under the other cats belly, and depending where your back legs are kick them in the stomach or more likely the face. And then you try and roll away as fast as you can! Just in case they fall on you." She flipped back up, "Now you try. Attack me!"

[Wolf]

The apprentice listened carefully to his mentor as she explained why he would need to know the move. "If they try to kill you..." The black tom opened his jaws to ask what he would do but shut it again when she continued. "but for now we'll just start with a kick instead of the rake." Nightpaw nodded eagerly, all questions forgotten about what Adderwing had said before stopping herself.

"Attack me!" At his mentor's words, Nightpaw rushed forwards and did as he had been instructed, sliding underneath the she-cat and kicking his paws - claws sheathed - into her belly. As swift as a mouse, he rolled out from underneath her. He did, however, end up getting his hind leg caught on Adderwing's front paw which held him back from getting completely free of the other cat. "Mouse dung!" He cursed at himself and struggled to get his leg free. His amber eyes glowed with annoyance as he got up and shook dust from his dark pelt.

OOC: I finally got the title! (Wow I'm slow)

Adderwing slipped slightly but then caught herself before she fell. She laughed slightly, "See this is why we practice! Now try again and this time I'm going to make it harder."

This time when he attack she was going to defend herself. A way to show him how to defend himself. Defensive was even more important than offense.

Nightpaw backed up and nodded, his amber eyes blazing with determination not faltered by his mistake. His tail lashed and the look in his eyes changed. He had put himself in a situation where he would need these skills, sharpening his senses as he internally put his mind into a battle. The black tom pinned back his ears and raced forward, sliding under her and kicking up his hind legs. He rolled out from underneath her, keeping his legs pulled in closer so he wouldn't get stuck this time.

This time when Nightpaw came towards she tried to defend herself. She didn't do the whole move, but she did part of it. She leaped to the when Nightpaw was about to kick and batted him with her paw. She wouldn't do the whole move, because she didn't want to hurt the little guy.

"This time I defended. When an opponent attacks you need to defend yourself. If someone tries to this to you. You jump to the side and either swipe with your paw, grab onto their scruff, or yank on their tail." She listed all of the ones she could think of.

Nightpaw's eyes widened in surprise as his mentor leaped up and batted him with her paw as he rolled. When he got back to his paw, he nodded eagerly, seeming quite excited by putting all these new moves together into his mind. "Okay Adderwing! Can I try?" He asked, amber gaze alight with energy and interest. His dark pelt was coated in a layer of dust which he backed away to shake off.
