One Rabbit For The Clan (Fiction)

Morningpaw was out in the cloudy sun with her new friend Lilypaw. Well they weren't really friends, but she didn't know many cats, so she thought in her head she would call them friends. She wouldn't out loud though. She didn't want to annoy Lilypaw. her mother had said something about trying to not be clinging. Though Morningpaw didn't really know what that meant. 

"I heard that rabbits have really good ears, so you have to be really quiet when going up to them. And also I heard that they are extremely fast! And even some of the fastest warriors can't catch them." She was excited to be sharing her knowledge, small may it be, with Lilypaw. Lilypaw hadn't had much training either, so they were on the same level of skill.

"Yeah, I heard those things too!" Lilypaw replied. She tried to make her paw steps lighter, which was pretty easy for her, since she was such a small cat. "Okay..." She whispered to Morningpaw, "should we fence in one, and see if we can catch it right away?" The petite she cat was worried her idea wouldn't work, but it was the only plan they had, plus neither of them had had much training. He white and ginger tabby gave her chest a few quick licks while waiting for an answer.

"How about fencing it in. Since neither of us have much experience. It might be easier that way... I think?" Morningpaw tilted her head considering, but she didn't really know anything about it. but it seemed that it would be easier.

Morningpaw sniffed the air. It was a familiar smell, but not the same as it usually was. Maybe a live rabbit? She touched Lilypaw with her tail to signal her, hopefully she would get the message.

"I guess." Lilypaw was confused as well. She got Mornigpaw's message and crouched down. She knew the smell, it was just much stronger here. She motioned with her tail for Morningpaw to go one way, and the petite she cat went the other way. Lilypaw focused on one rabbit equally between them and nodded to Morningpaw. She leapt out, hoping Morningpaw was doing the same.

Morningpaw saw Lilypaw leap towards the rabbit. A split second later Morningpaw's brain clicked and leaped towards the rabbit. She reached forward and grabbed the rabbit by it's back leg. She felt her teeth dig in. It sort of freaked her out and it dropped out of her mouth. Though it was limping, maybe Lilypaw would get it!

Luckily, Lilypaw managed to bite the rabbits neck after chasing it around a few minuets. And that was with the rabbit limping! The she cat apprentice took the rabbit in her jaws and clunked over to Morningpaw. Lilypaw dropped the rabbit and sat down on her haunches, panting slightly. "One rabbit," she takes a breath, "I can only hunt one rabbit a day because I'm exhausted by the time I finally catch it." She gives her own pelt a few licks to reassure herself, but soon she full out grooming herself. She blinks, remembering Morningpaw was there. Her pelt grows hot. "Sorry-" she sputters, "it's just that grooming always calms me down and I kind of forgot you were there." She explains, ears faced backwards.

Morningpaw shrugged, "It's alright. I get it. I do things when I'm stressed too. I like to just run as far as I can out of camp, and then sit there and the sunrise or sunset! If I can catch it at the right time!" Morningpaw did this all the time, and she hadn't just started when she had became a apprentice. She had been doing it a little with her sister when they were kits too!

"That must be really nice," Lilypaw said genuinely. She gave her chest one last lick, then said, "Do you want to head back to camp, or should we try for another?" The she cat apprentice looked at the rabbit thoughtfully.

"How about we head to camp. I'm exhausted." She blushed, "I know I'm weak, but I do try to get stronger. I'm just not that good at hunting." Morningpaw was a energetic little kit, but she had quick little bursts of energy, not long ones. Morningpaw knew that she was a kit in heart, but she was trying!

[Fiction]

"Don't worry about it, we all have our flaws," said Lilypaw kindly. "C'mon, lets bring this back to camp, and then I'm taking a nap!" She padded all the way to camp, and deposited the rabbit on the fresh-kill pile. "Bye, Morningpaw!" and the petite apprentice disappeared into the apprentice den.

Morningpaw mewed over to her, "See you again sometime." And then she found her favorite spot in the clearing, and curled up for a nice nap. She had sweet dreams of running after rabbits. Sometimes with Lilypaw, and sometimes on her own. It was the best dream ever. She never wanted to wake up.

OOC: So, Lilypaw has a kind of a little bit crush on Stoatpaw (played by Pandya) so Morningpaw will be the one she confides in. Or thats what I'm planning. Will Morningpaw keep things to herself, or will she let something slip? Just want to know, because if she does tell someone that Lilypaw likes Stoatpaw, Lilypaw will blow up and there will be DRAMA! And thats always good. This is for a little later though, not presently.
