Cinderpaw appeared at the enterance of the apprentice's den. She scanned the clearing for someone to talk to-and spotted Featherhawk, who was seemingly doing nothing. The gray apprentice quickly bounded over to the white tom. "Hi Featherhawk!" She said, smiling. "What are you doing?" Then without waiting for an answer, she continued, "are you sleeping? You don look like it, but I caught my friend sleeping while just sitting there once:" the she cat apprentice waved her paw in front of Featherhawk. "So are you sleeping?" She asked, flicking her white ears.

Featherhawk looked flustered. "No, do I look like I'm sleeping?" he muttered rather irritably. "What are you doing here, Cinderpaw? It's a nice day- don't waste your time talking to me. I'm just here to do my duty, and nothing else. Now, go have fun and play with your little apprentice friends."

The apprentice thought for a moment. "No," she decided, "I'd rather talk to you." She sat down next to him. "So sleeping is your duty? Wait, you wernt sleeping. Oops!" Cinderpaw burst into a fit of giggles.

Featherhawk rolled his eyes and feigned exasperation. He was slightly amused by the apprentice's idiocy, but he nonetheless retained an annoyed look on his face. "Well, don't irritate me," he grumbled as Cinderpaw giggled uncontrollably. "Well, what do you want to talk about?" he sighed. looks like I'm stuck with the annoying furball.

"Did you know, I once found a crab as big as a kit? It was huge! And it almost snapped me, but I got away. And there was this other time, that I saw a huge fish fin in the water, but it was really far away and I could barely see it. So maybe it was just a small fish. Speaking of huge, the elders say there are giant cats in the jungle that meow really really loud! And that there are giant snakes that can eat cats whole! Wouldn't that be cool? If they were real. Do you think they're real? I'm still deciding. Hey, do you know Heronpaw? He's my friend, and he was digging holes yesterday. I didn't ask him why though. He just does stuff like that. but Heronpaw is cool. Do you know him?" Cinderpaw flicked her white ears and finally waited for an answer.

Holy Silverstar. I'm going to explode. "No, I don't know Heronpaw," said Featherhawk slowly. "Nor am I sure those crazy stories are true. The elders are just delirious sometimes. Don't mind them. It's all rumors, and you're never going to the jungle, so you won't know for sure. but believe what you want. I don't really care."

"Okay!" The apprentice said eagerly. She flicked her ears and asked, "Now YOU tell me something."

"Um..." Featherhawk kneaded his paws on the ground uncomfortably. "I...don't have anything to say."

Her eyes widened a bit. "Nothing? How can you have nothing do say? The world is full of wonderful, and you can't say one thing?" Cinderpaw grinned a little at her philosophy, but waited for a reaction from Feathethawk.
