{Thank you all for your patience!
Note: this post is IMPORTANT. I know I said this last time, as well, but when I say it I MEAN it. Please read/scan through all of Ratstar's speech/announcement portions (you are allowed to skip past any Ceremony that is not relevant to your cats) There are many new warriors receiving both their names AND apprentices, so be on the look-out, and there is an announcement at the end of the Ceremonies =)
You are free to have your cats approach Ratstar with any questions, concerns, or conversation.
I encourage everyone to post here, but these are the people most relevant to the thread: @niabi226, Enapay, Avery, Isilme, Falcon, Roselocke, Vinepool, @batty, Anya, Ambrose, Skiv, @lilykit, Fiction, @shimmerstar1161, Wolf, ℓυиαя!}

It was frigid
The day had been warm for Leaf Bare, but, with the night, the temperature had plummeted. However, aside from TalonClan up in their mountain, SunsetClan was the most well-equipped for the cold. With the position of their camp more or less out in the open at the skirts of the beach, the Clan had little shelter from the elements year-round. They were exposed, but they were not vulnerable. They were not weakened by the elements--they were strong.
Ratstar emerged into the biting cold from her Den, a thousand thoughts spinning through her mind as she approached the familiar Moonrock. She wasn't sure what to think of the announcements she needed to make, or of how her Clan was flourishing... but that didn't matter. She was only there to deliver the message.
With an easy leap, the petite, dappled feline took her place atop the cold stone of the Moonrock, looking for her Deputy to join her at its base. "All cats loyal to SunsetClan who are healthy enough are to gather about the Moonrock, immediately." She waited a moment for cats to gather, but dared not wait long, given the cold. "I know you all have warm nests to return to, so I'll try not to keep you beyond what is necessary... but, friends, it is time for Ceremonies." And, given the disproportionate number of apprentices to mentors, she needed to proceed... in reverse order.
"Russetpaw," she continued, not hesitating as she sought out the calico. "Your path has blazed forwards, and you have walked it fearlessly. From this day forward, you will be known as Russetfox, warrior of SunsetClan--may you continue to walk a path of ambition and wit."
"Featherpaw," the leader summoned, giving the second calico a moment to come forward. "Your path has been winding and not without surprises, but you have walked it with enthusiasm. From this day forward, you will be known as Featherstep, warrior of SunsetClan--may you continue to walk a path of courage and finesse."
"Softpaw," she called, sharp eyes searching for the white pelt that would no doubt blend nicely with the snow. "Your path has been true, and you have walked it with kind paws. From this day forward, you will be known as Softblossom, warrior of SunsetClan--may you continue to walk a path of mirth and compassion."
"Cinderpaw," came the next name, Ratstar trying to locate the gray pelt among the masses. "Your path has been narrow, and you have walked it with confidence and enthusiasm. From this day forward, you will be known as Cinderweb, warrior of SunsetClan--may you continue to walk a path of commitment and skill."
"Whitepaw," Ratstar declared, calling forward the only tom to be made warrior that evening. "Your path has been unclear, though you have walked it boldly. From this day forward, you will be known as Whitehare, warrior of SunsetClan--may you continue to walk a path of fortitude and prowess."
"Spiderkit," she called out, searching for the young tom. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Spiderpaw, and Featherhawk will mentor you along your way."
"Dustkit, born to Aspenpool," she summoned, eyes scanning for the grey-speckled she-cat. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Dustpaw, and Tigerwhisker will mentor you along your way." Tigerwhisker hadn't caused her trouble in moons... there was no point in wasting the energy to worry about him, now.
"Sunkit," came the name, and Ratstar's sharp gaze sought out the young, ginger feline. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Sunpaw, and Softblossom will mentor you along your way."
"Ferretkit," Ratstar called, allowing a moment for the sandy tabby to come forward. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Ferretpaw, and Russetfox will mentor you along your way."
"Firekit," she addressed, mentally smiling as she remembered the day a distraught Aspenpool had come to her about this young tom. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Firepaw, and Whitehare will mentor you along your way."
"Tigerkit," she went on, calling another of Aspenpool's brood. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Tigerpaw, and Hazelrain will mentor you along your way."
"Sandkit," Ratstar called, pausing for a brief moment so the tom could step forward. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Sandpaw, and Ashlight will mentor you along your way."
"Waspkit," she called out, searching for the young feline. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Wasp-paw, and Cinderweb will mentor you along your way."
"Scorchkit," she summoned, eyes scanning for the next up-and-coming apprentice. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Scorchpaw, and Featherstep will mentor you along your way."
"Otterkit," came the name, and Ratstar's whiskers twitched as she anticipated the... fun that came next. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Otterpaw, and Otterfrost will mentor you along your way."
"Rosekit," was next, and the leader's eyes glanced briefly, not toward the kit, but toward the too-familiar tom in the crowd. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Rosepaw, and Sandstrike will mentor you along your way."
"Dustkit," Ratstar called, knowing this tom was not born to Aspenpool. "It is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Dustpaw, and Kestrelflight will mentor you along your way."
"Kirsty," she announced, knowing this name would be marked as starkly different from the others. "You have proven yourself as worthy of a chance to be a part of this Clan, and it is time for you to begin walking the path that will lead you to becoming a true warrior of SunsetClan--until such a time, you will be known as Ravenpaw, and Crowtail will mentor you along your way."
She waited for the cheers to die down... so that she could reveal something she had only been informed of nights before.
"Now, friends, before you retreat to your Dens... I fear I have some troubling news." Ratstar paused, waiting for the crowd to quiet and throwing a glance in her Deputy's direction before continuing. "It would seem that one of our own, a name no doubt familiar to us all... Wildpaw, has gone missing. It has more than half a moon--I will be organizing extra patrols to broaden the search for her, and if any of you have any information as to her whereabouts, please see me in my Den." Ratstar, though she would never admit it because a leader should not house such feelings toward one of her own... had a sour-spot for the senior apprentice ever since the incident with Fallowmist, who was still in recovery. Had Wildpaw fallen victim to some tragedy... or had she simply run off?
Ratstar had a bitterness toward the younger feline, but she had never pinned her as one to abandon her Clan.+-----+-----+
Dark eyes emerged at the edge of the clearing, meeting Ratstar's with their usual calm. A tom, lean and limping, disappeared into the shadows, making his way forward, unseen, to converse with his leader.
With his sister, regarding his missing apprentice.+-----+-----+Otterfrost straightened as she received an apprentice, but as soon as she heard the name "Otterpaw," she sighed.
This was the second time Ratstar had played this trick on her.
Otter and otter.
Cute.
