Brightblossom was briefly granted a small break from her new, suddenly acquired kits. And thus, the female was resting in the sun, stretched out delicately, the end of her tail occassionally twitching as she allowed her breath to even, enjoying the peace for how long it might last before she'd have to return to the young kittens. She felt her whiskers twitch before pausing at a scent. Was that? Her eyes peeked open before she sat up, looking around. No sign in the open, and thus her eyes began to scan the shadows. She was sure she'd caught the scent, but it was gone now. Had he been passing by. Her heart nearly panicked, praying he was merely playing a game of hiding from her to catch her unawares. Her breath stuttered in her throat as she looked aorund before slowly calling out, unable to hide the hope in her voice, "Ashnight? Are you there?"

Immersed in the shadows, a slender tom picked his way around the camp periphery not making a sound. The camp was quiet today yet regardless of how many cats were present, his yellow eyes were only settled on one. A pretty she cat stretching in the rare sunlight. Beautiful.

"Ashnight? Are you there?"

As her voice called out into the air and the queen sat up, gaze roving, Ashnight stepped out of the shadows with a small smile, barely a smirk. He hadn't been around long but during his day had stopped by to see her. Clearly she had caught his scent first. LIght on his feet, the grey feline stalked his way over to her before dipping his head to nuzzle her cheek. He was aware of her hard work with the kits and though he wasn't the father, he felt the need to support them. All of them. A low rumble was his hello before he sat his body down and curled that thing tail around slender legs.

She couldn't help but to smile as she wached the grey tom separate himself from the surrounding darkness, smiling to herself as she watched his approaching, purring in greeting as he nuzzled her cheek, "I thought it was you." She purred, delighted at not only having been aware of her surroundings to know of another's approach, and then to recognize (or even catch the scent at that). She purred as she turned to lean against him, welcoming his company, "How have you been, Ashnight. I've missed you . . . ." She purred, nuzzling him in a warm greeting.

Her greeting was genuine, as it always was with the gentle queen. Yellow eyes warmed at her voice and he crouched down to her level, tucking his long legs underneath his body. With a low purr, the tom let his gaze wander from hers, scouring the camp around them, as always on the look out for anything out of the ordinary. It was then he let himself speak, as usual, only a few words strung together.

It was however getting easier. With her.

"Good, busy.. The kits?" His eyes roved back to meet hers and his voice softened. "You?"

The female smiled as he crouched, slowly tucking in his long legs, and she happily shifted to lean against him, letting her pelt lightly brush his, purring faintly, watching his look around the land, the camp. Always on alert. She never felt safer then she did in times like this, when he was close. No other clan cat could make her feel so safe. No other clan cat could make her feel half the thngs he caused her to experience. She smiled at his words, not surprised in the least that he'd been busy - and yet she felt priveledged to receive a small portion of his time, "They're well. Growing like leaves. I've comfirmed recently that Squirrelkit is deaf though, and it worries my faintly. but I know the others will watch out for her." She smiled, purring as his eyes met hers again, how his voice softened, how was she. She smiled, responding softly, honestly, "Much better, now that I've gotten to see you." Did he know he was the high point of her days? Did he know just how much time he spent running through her head?

Squirrelkit. Deaf.

Eyes narrowed at the news before he brushed it aside. "Can.. work with that." Many cats did and after all, he survived just fine with his aliment. Squirrekkit would do OK. Dipping his head, the silent grey tom nuzzled Brightblossom, relishing in the way her thick fur felt against his.

but I know the others will watch out for her."

And so would he. Ashnight had never fathered kits before but he knew he would look after them like they were his own. And maybe, maybe one day he would have others with the pretty she cat before him. As her next words floated to his ears, Ashnight purred against her before leaning back in an effort to make her fall into the gap he had created. "Had to see.. you. Missed you.."

The female smiled softly at his words, before nuzzling him once in agreement, "She's already doing well with it. Takes cues from the others." She agreed softly, smiling with a gentleness as she spoke of the kits, relaxing against him as he nuzzled her fur, before startling when he suddenly leaned back, the smaller female no longer having the support, falling directly into the trick, falling into the new gap, before smiling softly at his words. He had to see her? He'd missed her. Her eyes soften, the pale yellow softening, sweet as fresh honey as she smiled, "I missed you too." She missed him a lot when he wasn't around. And with each passing day, she was becoming more and more aware of his presence. She hesitated, before cross the bridge between them just another step, "My days never feel complete until we've run into each other . . . ." Just anothe step across the bridge that seperated the two of them from coming together. A bridge that was becoming shorter and shorter.

As the small female fell backwards towards him, Ashnight rumbled and looked down at her with warm eyes. She had missed him too. Her words caused his body to warm and his eyes seemed to melt into a rich gold, his purr deepening as he pressed up closer to her.

"My days never feel complete until we've run into each other . . . ."

His answer to that was easy. "Well, then I'll be sure to spend every night at your side, my love, and every morning waking to you... because I don't feel complete either." Again his head dipped and he nuzzled the thick fur around her neck. "If you'll let me."

The female purred as she smiled up to him, snuggling as he pressed closer to her, relax in comfort before startling at his words. He'd . . . he'd called her my love. She'd heard those very words in her dreams so often. Suddenly she was pausing, sitting up and looking around slowly, frowning, "I'm dreaming again, aren't I? This is another one of those dreams where you say you love me, want to be with me, and then I wake up, and when I realize it was a dream I'll be super disappointed . . . and then have to deal with Ivyheart teasing me because I'm in love with you. It's another one of those situations. I'm about to wake up and find none of this is real, right?" She asked, almost looking upset by the idea of having to wake up and find none of this ever happened, and she'd have to face the day not being his, again. Stupid dreams that are better than reality. Oh, if only she knew.

As she sat up suddenly, Ashnight frowed, concern spiking those eyes as he pinned them on her.


"I'm dreaming again, aren't I? This is another one of those dreams where you say you love me, want to be with me,     and then I wake up, and when I realize it was a dream I'll be super disappointed . . . and then have to deal witj Ivyheart teasing m-"

Hold up, that was why the female had been badgering him about Brightblossom the other day? A soft smile as the tom sat up and Brightblossom, his Brightblossom, continued.

"-because I'm in love with you. It's another one of those situations. I'm about to wake up and find none of this is real, right?"

An affectionate purr that could quite easily have doubled for a chuckle left the grey feline and he moved so that he sat in front of her, watching how her confusion furrowed her head. With a soft lick to her check, Ashnight crouched so that he could look at her right in the eyes, strong yellow meeting her faint ones. "It's all real, love.. though, it's nice.. to know you dream of..me." A grin, a true one, only for her before it was hidden once more and moved to his eyes. A satisfyed rumble. "And I love you..too."

The female was convinced this was all fake, not a bit of it to be real at all, and that any moment she'd wake up to one of the kits jumping at her, waking her up, and it'd all begin. SHe was barely aware of the tom's frown, or his concern, or the moment he sat up. She did realize something odd had happened when he moved to sit infront of her, bringing her attention back to him when her cheek was licked, the tom crouching to meet her eyes. Huh, this was different. Usually when she confronted Dream-Ashnight about being a dream he'd merely smile sadly, with his eyes, and disappear, replaced with a different dream. Though. When he spoke, her eyes slowly widened, as she realized she wasn't dreaming, her muzzle slowly dropping open, her face heating up, the red hidden by the white. Oh dear heavens, it was real and she'd just said all of that outloud. To the tom. In that next moment, her entire body dropped, and her thick tail was once again her greatest friend as she hid her face behind it, burrowing her muzzle between her paws, "T-this is all real? A-and I just said all of that?" She squeaked, even as a soft purr built up when he called her love again, though it wasn't until he admitted he loved her to that she lifted her tail away from her face slightly, her pale yellow eyes visible, "You do?" She asked, her soft, sweet smile hidden by her paws before she slowly sat up, and in the next moment was pressed against his chest, purring as she brushed her cheek against his neck, easily fitting against him with her smaller size, the purr never ceasing, "You truly love me? You really meant all of that?" She smiled as she pressed her forehead against his grey fur, eyes closing in delight, "Of course I'd let you . . . ." She mused softly, licking his fur gently, one of her paws lightly coming to rest atop one of his, her heart over filling, "I've dreamed of nothing else for . . . . a long time."

Those eyes remained warm as the gentle queen got her head around the fact that she wasn't dreaming and that he had just told her he loved her.

He loved her, those words had left his mouth and since meeting Honeyrain, the grey tom had never thought those words would be uttered. but she had left, not given him an answer and he had moved on. Moved on to a she cat that was better for him in everyway. Nuzzling her again, the tom purred once more before settling in properly beside her.

A nod, "Every word I said.. I meant. I'll.. always mean it."

And with that, the silent tom, who hardly socialized with others, gave his heart away to the most gentle and loving she cat there ever was, that he had the pleasure of knowing.

The female purred softly, her eyes closing in bliss at his words, knowing it had to be true. Or else he'd have never said the words. The silent tom only spoke what he thought, felt was important, she knew that. And to know, that such a thing was so important to him. Her heart nearly overflowed with emotion. She cuddled close to him, purring as she licked his cheek softly, "I love you, I do. I knew I did from that first moment you really smiled for me." She purred, with a teasing smile, looking up at him, "And I'll love you until my dying breath." She added, before her voice turned softer, more playful, "And with your silent-protector tendencies, I have no doubt it'll be a long, long life we'll have together." She meowed, a silent, half obscured voice of trust, that she knew she could always count on his for protection. For anything. Hadn't she already proven that with the kits, that he had been her go-to. He always would be.
