The small brown bengal crept slowly through the undergrowth. She looked in awe at the forest around her. I can't believe it! This is so cool! I never imagined hunting would feel like this. She saw a vole in a small grassy clearing ahead of her and began to creep forwards. Ryepaw knew that she didn't have the adequate skills to catch it, but she could at least try. Just then she scented a strange smell. What is that? She shrugged and continued forwards. Then she pounced on her prey. And her paws slammed against the bare ground. Mousedung! She sighed. Another catch missed. Just then she realised what the strange scent was. She was on the wrong side of the border! Ryepaw quickly began to pad back towards the Leafclan border. Just then she stumbled and felt a wrenching pain in her fore paw. She let out a yowl of pain and surprise. Her forepaw was stuck in a rabbit hole! Curse you rabbits, leaving your holes all over the place! She tugged at her paw to try and get it out but almost collapsed with the pain. She grit her teeth togerther and pulled one last time. Her paw came free of the hole and she tumbled backwards. The apprentice stood up and shook out her fur before gingerly placing her paw on the ground. Stabbing pains flew up it and into her shoulder. She let out a hiss. Great. Just when I've become and apprentice. She couldn't face the arduous journey back to camp. She just couldn't. She Ryepaw hobbled over to her side of the border and lay stiffly down. In her anomalous situation she strangely felt a strong animosity towards rabbits. I hate rabbits so much! I will never eat a rabbit again, not even if I'm starving. It will be all their fault if I can never train or walk again. She glumly rested her head on the ground, the injured leg lying at an awkward angle. Oh, I hope that someone comes to find me soon!
