Doebreeze flicked her tail in anticipation as she left camp. Her kits were finally old enough to be left alone, if just for a few hours, under the care of the other queens. She would have left earlier but the looks she would receive kept back. And now she was leaving camp for the first time in nearly four moons and of course her feet were automatically carrying her to the Midnightclan border.
So maybe she was trying to find Poppysong. Sue her. Everyone else inside of all of Leafclan just judged her and she needed someone who was the opposite of all of the Leafclan cats she knew. Doebreeze may love her clan, but not enough to hang out in the nursery for four moons and not lose her sanity.
Halfway to the border, she saw a vole and quickly crouched down. It was an easily kill, a placid vole fat from the Greenleaf plenty. For a moment, she considered burying the prey to bring back to camp, but decided against it in order to bring it to the border with her. Three moons from the birth of her kits and she was still so hungry. She carried the fat thing in her mouth and picked up her pace to the border. She stopped when she got there, pausing at the border Poppysong had first met Doebreeze.
Since that first meeting, they had met again, purely on accident, passing the warrior on one of the Bengal's last patrols. She had stopped to say a few words, but not much more than that. Now, she waited at the border, knowing that it was unlikely Poppysong would come to the border nearly four moons since the last time they saw each other but willing to wait at least until the noon sun began to touch the horizon.
