3rd times the charm (Birthing thread, tagged and open)

Ouch! Ow! Are they coming already?
Birdheart felt pain. She sighed.
Yep, here we go.
She was just outside the nursery, sunbathing. She looked around the clearing for her mate, calling his name. Then,  before the pain became unbearable, she half-walked, half-rolled, into the nursery. She sighed one more time like this was nothing. She had been through it before and knew the only time to freak out or get excited was if something goes wrong or when the kits are born.
Secretly on the inside, she was so nervous. It was not even a week ago that her and Thornfur had fought over one of the kits names. She planned to still name the kit after their deceased son, but she was afraid Thornfur would despise of the kit. She hoped that the emotional wound of their fight was no longer fresh. She hoped he would love this kit with all the love he had. She just hoped.

Pain came like a wave. She yelled out for her mate one last time before the birthing truly began.

Thornfur pushed through the entrance of clearing with a small robin in his jaws. He had hoped to catch more with the sun shinning, but it just wasn't his day. Every bird got away from him, except the one. Hopefully Birdheart would like the robin. He wanted to smooth things over with her since their last disagreement. It was a mouse-brained thing to fight about, but he was sure she understood how he felt about the matter.

The tom looked around the clearing, but didn't see his mate. He knew she could be in nursery-

His thought was cut short when he heard his name in Birdheart's all too familiar voice. Oh Starclan here we go again. A small amount of panic hit him. Every birthing caused him to panic just a little. Ever since his sister, but with their streak with kits, and with Icestorm's recent passing it scared him more. The large warrior pushed through the nursery looking for his mate.

[Echo]

Birdheart saw her mate walk in and managed tot put a smile on her face for a quick mili-second before squeezing her eyes shut and cringing as the first kit was born. He or she was easy, and small.

The next kit was much more painful to get through. He or she was much larger. ( Icestorm )

The next kit was only slightly less painful. He or she seemed like a pretty average sized kit.( Midnight )

The next kit was the same way. ( Wolf )

Birdheart was starting to get tired, panting. She just wanted it to be over so she could look at her beautiful kits.

The next kit was painful, again. He or she was large. ( Roselocke )

The next kit was slightly less painful. ( Legit )

And to finish it all off, a painfully large kit!

Now she was done, panting. She laid down flat and took some time to rest.

(OOC: I know some of you haven't made the app yet, so please hurry on that! Sorry if I make you feel rushed but it is a very important plot!)

Thornfur watched anxiously as Birdheart started to have their kits. The tom sat near his mate, ready to comfort her and watch the over the newborn kits. As the first one came he noticed the size immediately, such a small kit. What if they were sick? The warrior reached over his mate to clean the small kit.

As Birdheart rested Thornfur finished cleaning the last of the kits. He moved to his mate reaching to lick her head. He let out a purr, a soft one only meant for her to hear. "Seven..." Thornfur was honestly at a loss with the large litter. "One she-kit..." He chuckled, just one, "Sweetkit, I like Sweetkit for this one Birdheart." He hoped she would like the name, it was the first thing that came to his mind.

[Echo]

Birdheart smiled. "Yes I like that name - She shall grow up to be everlastingly sweet" (huehue nope)

She looked around at the other kits, her eye stopping on an average tom-kit. "Hickorykit, he will grow strong like a tree." She said. ( Legit )

She let her gaze fall onto another tom-kit, average sized and strong-built. "Wolfkit, run fast like the wolf" ( Roselocke )
She then paused to let her mate name some others.

Thornfur nodded as his mate named two other kits. They were good names, and he hoped their names would bring them the strength they needed. As Birdheart paused, he realized she was waiting on him. His green eyes scanning the litter seeing if any popped out to him.

He motioned toward a large kit, the youngest of them. "Troutkit," he looked to Birdheart as if to make sure it was an okay name, "So he can be strong."

The warrior looked through the kits again, "How about Twigkit?"

A large ginger-brown tabby kit watched the queen and her mate discuss names for their new kits, his leafy green eyes wide in curiosity. The queen had birthed so many kits! Why was it that she gave birth to - the warrior had said seven? - while Russetkit's mother had only birthed him and his sister?

And it wasn't that he didn't love his little sister, but sometimes the young tom wished they had another sibling. Someone else to help him when the older kits made fun of Beechkit. Protecting his sister didn't leave a lot of time for making friends either. Russetkit curled his fluffy tail close to his body as he resettled in his nest. Maybe things would be different when he and his sister became apprentices. Perhaps Beechkit wouldn't be as sick then! Wouldn't that show those older kits! Hopeful, the kit continued to watch the new parents and the newborn kits.

"Yes, I like Twigkit. Let him be mistaken as fragile, to surprise all with his strength." ( @wolfkit )

She looked at another kit, and a name came instantly - "Adderkit" She blurted. "Swift, and special like a snake"

One kit was left. She stared at her small son blankly. He had a name, and it had been chosen a while beforehand. Birdheart just couldn't bring herself to say it at the moment.

Thornfur nodded as Birdheart agreed with the name Twigkit. He was worried it may not have been a good name for his kit, but if she agreed then it was alright for the kit. Naming kits always made him nervous. After the kits had to grow up with the names. Most names were given to kits to push them further in their lives; they either lived up to the name or kept trying. He just hoped his kits could live up to these names.

Thornfur's tail flicked with contentment as Birdheart suggested the next kit's name, "Adderkit is a good name. It will suit him well."

The large warrior looked down the last the kit, both the oldest and smallest of the litter. Thornfur smiled, the kit kinda reminded him Antpaw for being so small. but he didn't want to name this kit for his size like Antpaw. No he wanted to name him something more suiting for the kit as an individual. Something the small kit could live up to, but nothing came to mind. He had plenty of options for names that he thought of but nothing that seemed to fit. Thornfur turned to his mate. He could see she was thinking of something. "What are thinking of for him?"

A small part in the back of his mind, Thornfur knew what she thinking. However, somewhere in his heart he hoped he was wrong. After all the had settled this already. She wouldn't still do it, would she? The warrior also knew he had no real say in the kits names. It was a queen's role to name the kits, Birdheart was kind enough to let him. Would she pull that card on him though? She wouldn't do that to him, would she?

Birdheart nodded slowly. She wasn't looking at her mate, she couldn't bring her gaze to meet his. She just looked down at the ground, not blinking.
"Yes. I'm so sorry, Thornfur, but I know this name is right for him, so I must go with my heart," She said, voice cracking. She shut her eyes tightly as a tear dropped out.
Her mother had named her Birdkit for a reason. A very good one, as well. Due to the fact she had a disability, her mother always ignored her. Or so it seemed. Until the day Birdkit was becoming Birdpaw. She remembered the words her mother spoke so softly into her ear like it was yesterday. Like she was still young, the world unknown.
"You were named Birdkit because I believe that one day you will fly. You will show everyone else that you are capable of those three legs. Remember that."
From that moment on Birdkit promised herself that when she named her own kits each one would hold a meaning behind it. Something she could tell them about as they aged, something for them to live up to. Something to remember.
And the name she had chosen would be hiding huge secrets. Holding a huge meaning. Somewhere deep inside that tiny, flying heart of hers, she knew it was the right name.
"Owlkit. May he grow anyway he wishes, free to flap his wings like an owl. Free to choose his own path, but to do it wisely. Owlkit, may he grow to be as grand as his brother may have been or as shy and quiet as he wishes. but with all this, may he someday learn of the past and let it only make him feel special."
She gasped for air after saying all this. Not because she had said a lot and was tired, but because she was nervous.
Regaining strength, she lifted her head slowly and looked directly into her mates eyes - giving him a look that said "If you don't like this, then you can leave" but at the same time saying "sorry"
Lastly, she looked over all her beautiful little kits and vowed to protect them always. These ones would live, they were the survivors.

Owlkit, young, innocent, and hungry. All he wanted was milk. He moved close to his mother and began to suckle.

Troutkit crawled slowly over to his mother and began to suckle. He felt several other presences nearby but payed no attention to them.

OOC: ok so now they are all named and born! I am reallyyyyyy hoping this all works out so PLEASE finish the apps if you haven't and PLEEEEEAAASEEE stay with the plot!! PLEASE! Even if you don't want to be a big part of it we can at least keep them together as a close family. Like they all have a thread together right before gatherings or when everyone becomes an apprentice/warrior and there will be other family... issues

Owlkit watched his parents from the forest in Starclan, worry in his green eyes.

He had watched his parents, and his kin the moment his life ended. He watched his parents argue over his death, watched them make up, have a new litter. He watched over them the best he could, but he wasn't allowed to help, only watch. It hurt the young starclanner as he watched his parents grieve. Each death of a kit hit them harder than the last. Owlkit wanted to do better with this litter. He wasn't sure how, but in someway. These kits would live, they would grow up strong just as their parents want, hopefully.

As Birdheart suggested the new kits name, Owlkit felt odd. He wasn't sure how to feel about his mother actually going through with naming the small kit after him. but he did know the look in his father's eyes, and Owlkit felt pity for the warrior. As Thornfur stood and left Owlkit felt his heart grow heavy, his father wasn't going to take this well. The kit only wished he comfort him, his father needed it.

Owlkit looked to the seven knew kits though. They were the ones that mattered most here. His little brothers and sister were going to need guiding. His parents may need it too, more so than Owlkit can help with.

Thornfur couldn't think of anything to say to his mate, not in the nursery, not with her just having kits-seven no less. He couldn't bring himself to express the betrayal he felt. He thought she understood, how could she not. Owlkit was in Starclan, this Owlkit would never replace their last. Never.

Sweetkit moved crawling over Troutkit to reach the warmth and sweet smell of milk.

Thrushpaw and Antpaw watched from the entrance of the apprentice den as their father rushed out of the nursery and the camp. They noticed his fur standing on its ends, making the large warrior seem larger. The two looked to each other with concern. Their parents had another fight, and Thornfur lost again. What fight was it this time? Surely with a new litter they couldn't have fought already. Both knew it was just better to let both their mother and father cool off before going to them.

Hickorykit, just introduced to this strange new world, let out a weak mew. There had been others born before him, so many of the good spots were already occupied. Nonetheless though, he pushed and wiggled and squirmed until he found his way to that warm and sweet-smelling milk from some large, furry, and soft form before him. Aside from the delicious milk, one thought began forming in the back of his mind--so far back that he didn't even notice it, though it would begin shaping him for the rest of his life--mother.
