Skiv only.
Briarstar had finally gotten around to making a comfortable nest in her new den, and Pebblestar's scent was starting to fade (Briarstar couldn't tell whether or not that was a good thing - it depressed her, reminding her that she would only seen the old leader sporadically, but it also welcomed her future as TalonClan's leader). For the first time since she was made deputy, Briarstar had slept well. Having taken on both the role of deputy and leader when she was named deputy, later taking on her duties as deputy far too seriously, Briarstar never had much time for sleep. She worked herself to the bone, and when Pebblestar was kidnapped, the whole thing intensified.
As a leader, Briarstar had started to take a bit of time to herself, but was getting back into the motions of constant work. She still had not decided on a deputy, but planned on helping them out quite a bit once they were selected. In the meantime, the tortoiseshell she-cat had an apprentice to train, and she planned on making sure Amberpaw learned to work as hard as Briarstar did.
"Amberpaw," Briarstar mewed softly, gently prodding her apprentice with a paw. "Come, now, the sun will be rising soon, and it's time to begin your training." She had spent a good chunk of time the night before deciding what to do with Amberpaw, and had decided that it was possible (albeit unlikely) that TalonClan was still under threat from MidnightClan, so battle training was probably best to start with. She could show the young apprentice the territory another day, maybe when they did some hunting training.
