Night Huntress [Lionhearted & Darkwarrior]

A gentle greenleaf wind whistled through the stone fortress which made up Talonclan's mountain terriory. Taking with it the sounds of the night, as darkness started to fall upon the clan's rocky home. The sky was stuck between evening blue and impending blackness. The stars starting to litter the sky like a sprinkle of glitter. The half moon hung low in the sky, so low it seemed one might be able to reach it.

Though most of the clan seemed to be retiring back to their dens, one cat could be found traveling along a rocky ledge. Her snowy white fur gleaming in the darkness as she moved along in silence. Her crystal blue gaze set forward, watching her footing with care. Her mind wondering aimlessly as she approached the small crack in the ground which was called the flying rat nest. Nearing the hole the warrior slowed, her tabby splotched ear flickering some. Ahead from the crack in the ground the creatures which they called flying rats, where taking flight up into the beautiful night sky. They swooped and dived in every direction and seemed to be endless in their numbers.

Unsheathing her long sharp claws, the she-cat called Ivyspot creeps forwards towards the crack. Then with a sudden and swift movement she leaps into the air her long limbs propelling her high into the flying rat filled air. Swiping out with her claws, she slashes three of the creatures to the ground . Here she fell to all fours and administered the last blow. Her claws warm with blood, Ivyspot's eyes gleam with satisfaction. Flying rats were easy prey and great for hunting. Easy to catch and sort of fun, it kept a cat's mind occupied. Something Ivyspot was always trying to do.

The pale creme tabby she-cat strode along the rocky path, head down, absentmindedly headed for the Flying Rat Nest. She felt like hunting tonight, and flying rats would provide perfect targets for her.

However, as she got there, the flying rats were swarming in the air, and pandemonium had risen. What was going on? Tentatively, Brightfish crawled on her belly into the nest. There was a cat jumping up and down, catching the flying rats just like she was going to do.

"Ivyspot?" Brightfish called, recognizing the warrior. "What are you doing here?"

Ivyspot's head snaps around when a voice broke the air. Her pale crystal blue gaze blinking as she looks over at the form of a cat. Scenting the air, she recignized the cat's scent as that of a fellow warrior. Her half tabby half white tail flickering, she pauses in her hunting. " What does it look like I'm doing?" She remarks slightly irritated by the question, she lifts a slender paw and gives it a lick. Meanwhile around them the flying rats continued to dive in and out of the cave crevice. All around in every direction the creatures could be seen, like they were oblivious to the danger the two cats posed.

"... You come here to just stand there?" She asks after a few moments, her tail tip twitching as the flying rats swarm about her head. " Cause these flying rats don't catch themselves...." She adds before turning and leaping back into the air, her sleek muscular white body gleaming in the shimmer of the starpelt. Her claws flashing out as she struck at the closest brown creature, dragging it down with her to the ground. She nips it dead, pale eyes looking to see if Brightfish would join her in hunting the flying rats or stick around to ask more obvious questions.

"What does it look like I'm doing?" retorted the other she-cat, licking her paw. "You come here to just stand tehre? Cause these flying rats don't catch themselves."

"Maybe they don't to catch themselves," snorted Brightfish, amused at Ivyspot's lack of consideration. "If prey started to eat themselves, then I'll jump off a cliff!" Her paw flashed out and she grabbed a flying rat out of the air, and pinned it down, giving it a quick bite to the neck. Sitting down, she began to eat it, wondering what was Ivyspot's point in coming here. "You're making a mess, killing all these. You're scarring the other flying rats; think about the rat kits!"

Skylark's gaze darted from each individual flying rat to the next. It was a good thing that she was a good climber, since jumping and catching the bats or even swiping and snagging some would be easier from right above a cave exit. Her attention focused on a swarm that seemed to be coming out right by her, and she reached out with claws outstretched to snag some, nearly falling over in the process. but she snagged one and quickly withdrew her paw from the air before nipping the neck of the flying rat and killing it.

She was about to try again when the sound of other cats reached her ears and the familiar smell of her clan hit her nose. She briefly wondered what was going on below before picking the bat up carefully. Skylark stood and turned to travel down the path and towards the direction of their scents, her tail twitching in curiosity as she did so.

Ivyspot snorts at little at Brightfish's words. Her muscles rippling beneath her smooth white fur as she leaps up once more to catch a flying rat. Snagging the creature on her sharp claws, she pulls it to the ground before killing it. Her pale blue gaze turning on Brightfish who was now snacking on a flying rat. She shakes her head muttering something about the warrior code. " I'm catching prey for the clan." She says at last, glancing around as the flying rats swarmed about them. " Prey can always be of use especially with all the kits around." She adds, pale gaze darting away from Brightfish to the form of yet another cat. Ivyspot momentarily tenses until the scent of Skylark wafts in her direction. Smoothing her pelt down, Ivyspot turns away and leaps back into the air. Her leap bringing her to the other side of the crevice, where she swiped at more flying rats. Most of the time she enjoyed the company of others, but Brightfish's question had set her off in a rather irritable mood. Why she was unsure. Perhaps she was just tired, or maybe she had hoped to hunt alone. Whatever the case, she knew that she was better off keeping herself busy than sticking around to chat.

"Don't kill the rat kits!" Brightfish exclaimed in alarm. "If you kill the kits, how are they supposed to have more kits?" She flicked her tail, and lunged in the general direction of a swarm of flying rats, easily pinning down two. She took them in her mouth, and dropped them by the mouth of the cave.

"You know, while hunting is a great bonding activity." Skylark's eyes narrowed as she took in her two clanmates and their conversation. "I don't quite think that much friendly connecting between hunting partners is going on here," she purred through the flying rat in her jaws. Raising her tabby striped tail in greeting though being careful not to get it caught in a cloud of rats; Skylark trotted over to the flying rat pile Brightfish was building up and set hers down beside it. She didn't want her kills to mix with Brightfish's. She caught a brief glimpse of Ivyspot as she turned away and slunk over to a bat-rich spot, and while she didn't quite make any sort of greeting towards the she-cat who appeared to be in a mood, Skylark gave Brightfish a nod as she passed her.

Ivyspot who'd killed another flying eat turns at the sound of Brightfish's voice. Her pale gaze filled with irritation as she looks at the other warrior. " I'm not killing the flying rat kits!" She hisses lips pulled back in annoyance. " I was referring to the kits in the clan, the ones we need to feed if they are to make it to there apprentice ceremonies! I'm not a mouse brain I know how to hunt!" She finishes with a snort and lash of her tail. Turning away she rolls her eyes, some cats she thought.
Diving back into the air, she attempts to catch yet another flying rat. Whilst behind her Skylark seemed to have joined them. She notices the she-cats tail wave. Glad she wasn't as chatty as Brightfish Ivyspot inclines her head some in her own greeting. Her pale gaze however still flashed with annoyance at Brightfish.

Skylark's tail twitched as she heard Ivyspot continue to scold Brightfish. Them continuing to fight was an annoyance, and a little unneeded. Spotting a slower-moving sky-bat that was about to pass by overhead; Skylark jumped up with her powerful hind legs and clawed at the small creature, snagging it and bringing it down with her before she bent down and snapped its neck with her teeth. She inspected her kill and found that one of it's wings appeared slightly malformed. She lashed her tabby-stripe tail at catching sickly prey and decided to move on.
However instead of dragging it over to the pile Skylark just left it there and proceeded to search the black cloud of flying rats above her for another good target.
