With the {Storm} Comes the {Rain}

Stormflame casually licked his shoulder. It had been a long day of hunting, and at dusk, he was rather tired of running around all the time. Of course he would have been the better deputy choice, but no Thristlehawk was better. He gritted his teeth pain shot through his shoulder. "Foxdung!" He cursed, hissing as he spoke. Eyes narrowed angrily at his dumb ways, he quickly walked out of the warriors den. The crowded den was to much to contain his sudden burst of anger.

Taking deep breathes, he stopped at the fresh-kill pile. Stormflame was tired, and eating normally soothed the nerves, normally. Sighing, he smiled and looked around, anger was a bad thing to express around these parts. If so, then all the cats would stare at him and he would never be deputy. Eyes wandering the camp, he wondered who else was about this evening.

Rainfrost padded back into camp, her golden eyes looking pleased. She went out of the camp not too long ago and into Talonclan territory, so she could sun herself. Now that the sun was setting and the warm light was fading, the bluish-grey she-cat decided to head back to camp. She padded toward the fresh-kill pile, and took a mouse. She sat down, and noticed Stormflame. "You don't look so good. Prey squeeze out from between your claws?" She asked, taking a bite of her mouse.

Stormflame looked over prey pile with an interested gaze. The prey was plump, although lead-bare was coming quickly. He dreaded the long shadows, it meant he couldn't hunt in the daylight as long, he couldn't prove himself for long. but the golden sun glinted on his teeth has he reached forward to grab a squirrel.

Once he released the squirrel, the voice beside him was suprising. Turning his head to look at the cat, he grunted. "No, just an annoying hawk. Prey went well for you I suppose?" His words true meaning were cleverly hidden, and he wanted to converse between someone before night arived. The sun was already low, but the she-cat was happy, and he couldn't down her spirit.

Rainfrost scoffed in amusement. "A hawk?" She repeated, completely ignoring his question to her. "Now how did an 'all high and mighty' cat like you get in a tussle with a hawk?" She asked, her voice laden with sarcasm. She gave him a mischievous look before returning her attention to her food.

Stormflame stared at her, dumbfounded. "Yes a hawk. Did I mumble?" That aggitated feeling came over him again. Snorting he took a swift bite of the hare, chewing thoughtfully. Only to find she completely ignored his question. He snorted, she-cats were she-cats always so rude and ignorant.

"Well, I was chasing it, and got in a tangle of thorns. And so I was quite angry and here I am." He smiled back, lips raised to show his teeth. He didn't mean it in a threading manner, just to show the she-cat he meant something other then a normal hawk. Teeth gleaming in the pale light he chuckled. "Leaf-bare is drawing near." Rather awkward starting small talk, he told her an observation he found.

OOC: Ah, the irony of how he thinks she-cats are rude and ignorant. They may not know it, but they think alike. XD

"Oh really? I hadn't noticed." Rainfrost meowed, once again in a sarcastic tone. She glanced toward the fresh-kill pile. "Unfortunately, that means the prey is going to start dwindling. We better stuff ourselves while we can!" She purred, and once again sunk her fangs into the mouse. They were silent for a moment, and Rainfrost tried to think of something to say. "So... Do you think Brairstar's going to be a good leader?"

Stormflame twitched his ear angrily. Why with the sarcassam? He could hear hear her, didn't the she-cat know that? He decided not to responded to her sarcassam, but instead listened to her other conversation. but one problem occurred to him, he didn't know her name. There were a lot of Talonclan cats, although he was sure her name had something to do with a storm..

Stormflame whiskers twitched hungrily at the mention of running low on prey. He quickly bent down to take a bite of his rabbit, and was pleased with the satisfying taste. "Stuff ourselves? We still need to be fit for hunting. Imagine sounding like a badger because you ate so much." He tried to add a joke, and hopefully it succeeded. Stormflame narrowed his eyes, was Brairstar a good leader? He twitched his ear thoughtfully. "Well I suppose. I do miss Pebblestar every now and then." That was his final answer, and since the she-cat didn't get the riddle before, he would keep his words to what they truly meant. "What is your name Miss?" Stormflame couldn't talk to someone without knowing their name.

Rainfrost slightly snickered at Stormflame's attempt at a joke, and took a bite out of her prey. She chewed thoughtfully at his answer to her question. She felt curious as to how Brairstar was going to carry herself as the leader. "My name is Rainfrost." She replied, feeling surprised that she didn't ask his name. "And what would be the name of the tom in front of me?"

Stormflame smiled at the she-cats snicker. At least she found his joke close to funny. His lips upturned, he looked at the half eaten rabbit, and took another bite. Soon the prey would be finished, and he would go to sleep at the den, or at least try to. He tested his sore legs against the ground, dirt getting his normally white paws brown.

"Ah, Rainfrost a beautiful name, unique to. I rather like it." He shrugged, shoulders rolling, and he arched his back for good measure. His green eyes gleamed, and he cocked his head suddenly at the question. His name? Nobody really asked that, cats already knew that or thought him to rude. "My name is Stormflame, thank you for asking Rainfrost." He was already flattered by being asked his name, at least she was honest she didn't know. Looking over the names he chuckled. "Our names our similar, but not. Rain- and Storm- are related. but -flame and -frost are opposites! " he snorted.

The bluish-grey she-cat felt pleased by the compliment. "So I take it your name is Stormflame?" Rainfrost meowed in conformation. She took the final bite of her mouse, and swallowed it before continuing. "Yes, that's true. You have a rather strange name. No offence," She added with a purr, playfully flicking her tail.

The tom stood up, only because he was feeling stiff sitting the ground. His legs seemed to groan as he stood, and he grunted as he remained standing. With some effort he arched his back again, then sat down. The cool crisp breeze of leaf-fall whistled through his short fur. It was sort of u enjoyable, but talking with someone lightened his day.

"Yes. My name is Stormflame, I give you the stamp of approval!" The rust colored cat grinned, a chuckle racking through his body. He winced at the mention of how weird his name was. "Well, your name is rather weird. Rainfrost? Well at least they are related." he teased the she cat lightly with a smile. "No offense, just a joke." Stormflame didn't want to hurt her feelings and drive her away. He quickly took a bite of his prey.

Rainfrost purred at his first joke, and chuckled at his second. "Of course it was a joke. If it wasn't, I would rip you to shreds." She said this with a completely straight face, using her dry sense of humor. They were both silent for a moment, but then a smile broke Rainfrost's act and she laughed. "Nah, just kidding." She gave her chest a lick.

Stormflame laughed with her every time she did, knowing his jokes were the funniest! He smiled after the second one, his cheeks sore from smiling so much. Licking his lips slowly, he gave his chest a lick. The unruly fur that lied there was bothering him, so he quickly groomed it.

"Okay, well I would rip you to shreds as well." He offered a small smile, quickly pulling it in at the memory of his sore cheeks. The awkward moment between then was unbearable. He opened his maw to speak, when the she-cat spoke to him. "Exactly! I wouldn't dream of hurting a nice she-cat like you." He smiled agin, then took the last bite of his prey. He would just stay here a little longer, this conversation was getting interesting. "What is your favorite color Rainfrost?" he asked, quite interested in what it was.

"Color?" Rainfrost repeated, golden eyes flashing in surprise. She hadn't expected this question. She pondered it for a moment. "I'd say bluish-grey, because it's the best color any cats' pelt could be." She replied, over-exaggerating the word "best". She stretched, showing off her own bluish-grey fur. She looked over at Stormflame. "What about you? What's your favorite color?" She asked. Her whiskers twitched in amusement at how ridiculous the question was, but she didn't comment any further on it.

Stormflame found himself snorting at what the she-cat said. "How many times have you questioned what I said? Yes color." He chuckled softly, shaking his head. This she-cat was only proving his theory of how she-cats didn't listen to words very well. He twitched an ear at her answer, notifying her own fur color. "Ah, I get it. You pelt color of your favorite color. Haha." He supposed she had never been asked what her favorite color was, it was the more kit like thing to ask.

"My favorite color is black. The color of the sky at night." he twitched his tail, and pointed at the night sky. His tail pointing towards the sky, which was getting darker. The sunset was beautful at this time of day, the sunset was fading. "Look at the sunset, and its variety of colors!" he exclaimed, trying to show the beautiful sky before it disappeared. Bringing his tail down, he flicked the she-cats ear with his tail tip.
