A small black cat was easily distinguishable among the leafbare snow as she wound through her clan's terriory. The cat was Nightpaw, and she was heading to one of her favorite places to hang out with other apprentices, the bubbling pool. She figured that other apprentices were already there or would eventually show up, so she didn't bother inviting anyone herself.
Nightpaw heard the bubbling before she saw the pool and excitedly bounded the rest of the way. The pool was relatively small, just a few fox-lengths across, but still big enough to fit several apprentices. She stopped at the edge and one at a time, soaked her cold, wet paws in the warm water. Satisfied, she laid next to the pool with her back facing it. Realizing no other apprentices were there yet she mewed aloud, "Where is everybody?"
