A Bit Too Cold For My Taste [Tagged + Open]

A tom sat hunched outside of the apprentice den.  A snowdrift had pushed it's way in to the enterance, but made it no further than a few mouse lengths.  This is where the tortie tom, Tanglepaw sat.  His fur was fluffed against the cold, making his already messy fur look even worse.  but, he couldn't say he cared that much at the moment.  Looks were the last thing he needed to waste energy on.  His fur, although medium length, did little to protect him anyways.  His golden eyes were narrowed as he continued to peer outside, doing nothing was indeed a waste of his time.  but there wasn't too much to do other than hunt.  He had done that already anyways, twice, and had come back with one measly mouse.  It set him in a sour mood.  Everything was just going wrong and it was all because of leafbare, his most hated season.  It brought sickness and hunger.  What was worse was that he could do little about it. 

Tanglepaw switched his gaze from the deolate early-afternoon clearing to the inside of the apprentice den.  He could see the bodies of his denmates, curled up for warmth.  He could also see a few shifting as if they were making a move to get up.  His tail twitched, perhaps whoever joined him could figure out something to do other than sit around and stare at the snow that had settled on to their world.

A pure black tom was peacefully sleeping in his warm nest in the apprentices' den, dreaming of the thrill of the hunt. but before the dream could come to a satisfying end, Swiftpaw heard muffled coughing from some resting apprentices around him. With a sigh, the young tom eeked open his silver eyes. Standing up with a yawn, he knew that it was probably futile to try and go back to sleep. Swidtpaw stretched out his lanky limbs before hopping out of the nest made of moss and feathers.

Glancing around, the tom quickly spotted one of his fellow apprentices, Tanglepaw, sitting near the entrance of the den. Making sure he wouldn't wake anyone else, Swiftpaw padded over to join him. "Hey Tanglepaw!" he mewed quietly to his denmate, after peering outside the entrance of the den for a moment. Stomach grumbling, Swiftpaw let out a ring hiss of annoyance. The camp was covered with snow, but he didn't want to brave the leafbare weather outside just yet.
