Twineheart

Flower moved through the territory of Leafclan slowly, her steps slightly halting - a little unsure. This was the land, the clan she was born to. This was her home for her kithood, the first month of her apprenticeship . . . before she disappeared. Before she disappeared with out a trace. It still smelled like home . . . but . . . it was so unfamiliar to her. And so now here she was . . . She'd left her parents early that morning, to go out among the trees, to try and find out about the territory - try to learn or rather relearn her own. She moved quietly, her pelt reflecting the sunlight do to silver tipped threads, and her green eyes bright. Her fur bristled softly, looking a little peculiar in the sunlight. Not many cats had purple-like fur, not quite like hers anyways. The feline moved slowly, delicately, each tiny paw lightly touching the ground as she moved along carefully, eyes mapping out the territory - learning it, learning all she needed. She wanted to prove she didn't need to redo her apprentice hood. She was the age of a new warrior now, almost 20 moons. She was due to be a warrior had she stayed in the clan and not been ripped away from it . . . she wanted to prove she would be a good warrior as she was now. And that meant taking the time (By her own decision) to learn the territory. She'd do her best . . . to prove to the clan that she belonged here . . . . that she had returned home.

Overhead in the tall and naked birch trees which littered Leafclan's territory, the form of a white cat could be found. Only 6 moons of age it was apparent he was still growing his limbs seeming a tad too long, and his paws a tad too big. He was however muscular and fit for his age, making it easy for him to climb. He leapt from branch to branch with what looked like ease. but in reality each leap was calculated and careful. He was still young and would need moons more of practice before he become an accomplished climber.

It was this very fact that lead to his leap onto a not so study branch. The branch which had appeared strong and healthy was actually quite flimsy and bent rapidly under his weight. Unable to leap off the white tom clung to the branch claws digging deep into the striped bark. The branch bent down and bent fast and before the tom knew it he was nearly on the ground, the bent tree limb hanging inches from the ground now, swaying precariously. Still clinging desperately to the bark, his fur spiked up with his surprise the white tom lets out a shuddering breath of relief. That could of ended badly, he thought.

So focused on his near fall, the tom never looked up to realize just how close he'd landed to a wondering she-cat. A few mouse lengths over and his branch would of surley knocked her out.

The sudden crack of wood - the sickening splinter of wood, that never splintered enough to really be considered broke. Alarmed, the feline looked up, blinking her eyes in quiet surprise to see a limb that bent nearly vertical to the ground. She was silent for a moment, taking it in, realizing a few steps different, and the situation might have ended differently - badly even. She blinked, as she watched the tom react, letting a shuddering breath, even as Flower herself stepped back, a handful of leaves crunching beneath her paws as she looked up, "Uhm, are you alright?" The feline asked quietly, looking at the white, small feline - not sure if it was an old kit or a young apprentice, surely the later if he was out and about like this though, right?

[ Dyzzie sorry for the wait! ]

The sound of another cat nearby causes Whitepaw to look up from his predicament. Blinking his stormy blue eyes he realizes that he'd nearly squashed a fellow clanmate. Thick ears flickering he catches her words still clutching the branch which wobbled over the earth. " Oh uh yeah." He says slowly removing his claws from the bark. He left four deep gashes in the bark, as he leapt off letting the branch swing upwards. Causing little bits of bark to shower down upon the pair. Glancing back at the she-cat he tries to recount her name. but not being terribly social he came up blank. " I didn't hurt you did I?" He asks her, stormy gaze difficult to read.

The lilac, gray and ivory hued female glanced towards the apprentice, her ears flicking with an uncertainty that came from her unfamiliarity with being back with in a clan environment. It had been so long since she'd been part of the clan. So very long. She nodded to his response when he commented on being alright, her green gaze turning down to her paws, before she glanced back when he asked if she'd been hurt. Flowerblossom shook her head delicately from side, to side, the shy creature shifting awkwardly, "No, I'm alright." She stated simply. "A little startled, but unhurt." She assured the younger cat.

Shaking bit of bark form his snowy pelt, Whitepaw nearly misses the she-cat's soft spoken reply. Blinking at her he nods some, " Well er sorry." He says very unsure of himself when around others. He was a perfectly normal apprentice when alongside his sister. but take her away and he became rather aloof. Eying the she-cat closer he realized that he had seen her somewhere but where.... " What's your name?" He asks her, his curiosity getting the better of him.

The female lightly lowered her gaze, her voice soft, reserved . . . cautious. It was no lie that the femme was having some difficulties with adjusting back to the life of a clan cat, and suddenly she felt like she was an outsider to a clan she'd been born into. Growing up a rogue, a loner, wandering the forests, the lands, seeing so much beyond the daily grind of the life of a clan cat . . . she was struggling with the adjustment period. She glanced at her paws, her tail swishing faintly, "No need to apologize . . . truly." She assured gently, glancing back at the ivory apprentice before shifting awkwardly when he asked for her name, her paws seeming to dance in a slight dust she created as she slapped the ground beneath her, "Uhm, my name is Flower. . . blossom. Flowerblossom." It felt odd, calling herself Flowerblossom. For the last many moons she had been Flower . . . and now, there was a whole different section to her name. Flowerblossom. Flowerblossom. Warrior of Leafclan . . . . so why did she still feel like Flower?

Whitepaw takes her assurances without speaking. His dark stormy blue gaze set on her steady and unblinking. He was pleased she wasn't mad at him for he had little patience for cats who made things bigger than they were. He notices her eyes fall when he asked her name, her tail twitching. Was she nervous? but why? He wondered his thickly furred ears perking to catch her soft words. The second she said her name it came to him, why she was familiar. She was a "new" addition to the clan. Well not technically since she'd once been a Leafclanner then left. Feeling more reserved than ever, Whitepaw nods. " I'm Whitepaw." He says choosing not to comment on her loner past. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it, was what his mother had always told him. but his curious mind itched to know more and his tongue slipped. " So what's it like outside of the clans?" He inquires, his eyes intent. Whitepaw was loyal to Leafclan but he did have an intense curiosity over anything outside the clans. A need to explore that wasn't tamed by border patrols or visits to the pond of truce.

The young feline glanced up when the other spoke, giving his name in response, Whitepaw. The young warrior smiled slightly, her tail shifting as she dipped her forehead lightly, "It's nice to meet you, Whitepaw." She wasn't prepared for his question though, and she blinked in surprise, her green eyes widening slightly - before she tilted her head thoughtfully to the side. How to respond . . . with out it reflecting badly upon her. It was bad enough that she wasn't 'clan-raised' even if she was clan-born. but since coming back to Leafclan . . . she . . . hadn't felt alive. but, she knew a part of that was likely do to her isolation from the other cats. Her hesitance, her uncertainty had led to her outcasting herself . . .

She sighed, her gaze drifting away from Whitepaw - turning in the direction of where she'd grown up - always on the move, always changing terrain. How do you explain that sort of world. The grisly and the wonderful? She was quiet for a moment before the words fell of her tongue, "It was different. I was born in clan - and was just made an apprentice when I fell into the river that had taken Duskpounce and I away from the clans. Most of our time outside of Leafclan was spent finding our way back . . . . but . . . when we could just sit back and enjoy the wilderness . . . there was a certain level of energy, of life that you don't see in the clans. Beyond the borders, is a world that's cut-throat, where one wrong move could led to your death.

"but, there's beauty in that world too, and knowledge you can't gain from inside the clan - no matter how hard you try. Outside the clans, it's . . . it's a whole different way of life." She explained, to the best of her ability - careful to keep her tone neutral, disassociating herself from that outside world. She slowly turned towards Whitepaw, and for a brief moment her eyes sparkled, and a smile slid onto her petite muzzle, "Beyond the borders, it's like you're stepping into a whole different world . . ." And it was a world she knew inside and out. but Clanlife - she was forcing a crash-course in, just to try and fit in.
