They were all lying around camp, enjoying what little amount of green-leaf was left. Suddenly, a piercing screech filled the calm, warm air.
A she-cat, who's spot was near the nursery, curled up in pain. She felt waves flow through her belly and she screeched again. Flowerheart was giving her last litter to MidnightClan. After that, she hoped to train an apprentice and give what advice she could to the younger queens as they raised their own kits, and she hoped that she'd someday be able to nest in the elders' den.
but that was the future, what was ahead of Flowerheart was up to StarClan. She felt another contraction ripple through her and another screech burst.
Flowerheart felt a bundle arrive and she nipped the sac of it, pulling it close. A large, dark gray tom.. Rainkit. The queen thought, looking at the kit through what vision she had left. Her eyes were wide in pain and her vision was blurring a bit.
Another came. A she-kit. Pale gray tabby... Cedarkit. The full-time queen thought.
Two more kits came, but Flowerheart was far too tired and in a daze to decide what their names would be or even what genders they were. Flowerheart licked the pelts of her kits and drifted off to sleep.
"Get," Midnightstar ordered. "No need for attention- I'm pretty sure most of you have seen kits' births in the camp before, no?" She didn't want all eyes to be on Flowerheart, which she figured they were. The leader padded over to the leader, "Nettleclaw? You should probably carry a few to the nursery." The leader picked up the two gray tabby kits- a dark and a pale, a tom and a she-kit- and carried them gingerly off to the nursery. When she emerged from the nursery, Midnightstar called, "I want two cats to escort Flowerheart into her nest.."
Rainkit mewed in confusion as he was removed from his mother's belly. The large dark gray tabby tom struggled in Midnightstar's grip and continued his cries for help when set in the nest next to his sister. Where's.... Milk? The newborn kit wondered.
