The New, Kind Apprentice! (Open)

[Midnight]

Swiftpaw stopped in the apprentices' den, moss in his jaws. The tom looked around, green eyes bright and alert, his ears perked. He padded farther in so any cat at the entrance would be able to get in and set the moss down by his paws. Swiftpaw looked around for an area where he could place his nest, or maybe even a cat to talk to. "Anyone in here?" Swiftpaw called softly, not wanting to interrupt any cat's sun-high nap.

Sparkpaw was sitting in the apprentices den, trying to decide what to do. The elders always loved new bedding, but the medicine cat always needs more herbs. What should I do? she thought. When another cat came in and called out, Sparkpaw smiled. "Hi, I'm Sparkpaw. What's your name?" she asked.

[Midnight]

"Swiftpaw!" The tom answered. He was bigger than most apprentice his age, but he wasn't to be considered 'large'. His black and white pelt was neat from a long grooming in the morning and the tom stared a bit at Sparkpaw. He thought she looked pretty- a ginger pelt and a black spot on her tail. Swiftpaw shook himself, though. "How are you?" He asked the overused question.

"I'm good, thanks for asking. How are you?" Sparkpaw asked politely. She thought the black-and-white tom looked handsome in the shadows of the apprentices' den. Sparkpaw wanted to shake her head to clear it, but she didn't want to give Swiftpaw the idea that she was uncomfortable talking to him.

[Midnight]

"I'm good as well, thanks to you too." Swiftpaw answered. He blinked in the shadows. "I don't know how to hunt or fight yet, but want to take a walk with me?" The apprentice asked, hoping she'd say yes. Swiftpaw didn't want to show he liked her, and couldn't believe himself, but he did sort of like her.

"I'd love to go for a walk!" Sparkpaw stood as she spoke. "but where to? I don't think our mentors would like us going out of the camp alone." she added. Sparkpaw walked halfway out of the den, then stared at Swiftpaw. His eyes seemed even brighter in the shadows.

[Midnight]

"True..." Swiftpaw said, following Sparkpaw. "We could just hang out in the clearing and chat for a while, I suppose." The tom meowed. "If we see a warrior, we'll ask if they want to come, because sitting around is going to get boring after a while!" He purred in amusement, but it was also true.

Sparkpaw purred quietly after what Swiftpaw said. "Good idea. So, who's your mentor?" she asked, walking out of the apprentices' den. "Mine's Ashwhisper." Sparkpaw asked before looking at Swiftpaw. His pelt was sleek, and his eyes sparkled. She didn't care if he knew how she felt, even if the whole clan knew. She was in love.
