There's Only One, but it'll Do (Cami)

Honeydawn sat just outside the camp entrance, her short, stiff fur standing up in all directions. The sun was just barely beginning to rise, turning the sky into a soft blue shade. As it began flying higher and higher above the horizon, Honeydawn could feel the air getting warmer, though it was very slight, and she could tell that it was going to be a very hot greenleaf day. The half-Bengal warrior washed her pelt, waiting for Lionpaw to arrive.

She was honestly glad she'd been assigned to mentor the tom. He seemed calm and collected, unlike most his age, and Honeydawn dealt with that better than she dealt with energetic apprentices. They were cute and amusing, but only for a short time, and many of them didn't mature until much later in their apprenticeship - some even took the maturing into warriorhood.

Lionpaw padded along towards the camp entrance, he had been playing with some friends for a good part of the morning, but he hadn't been up that long. He was excited about his training, but horribly nervous. Lionpaw was afraid he wouldn't be good enough. That he wouldn't learn fast enough. That he would never get his warrior name and Stromclan would kick him out and he would be all alone. He liked Honeydawn though. She seemed really sweet and already he trusted that she wouldn't scream at him or anything, at least he hoped. He was klutzy at times, but very clam and ready to learn whatever she had to share with him.

He saw the Bengal pelted cat waiting for him, he really hoped she hadn't been waiting too long. He slowed his paws as he approached her and calmly sat at her paws. "Hello, Honeydawn. I hope you haven't been waiting for me too long." He knew he was a little awkward with his words, but he was learning. He looked up at her for a moment before shyly saying, "What will you be teaching me today?" He wondered if that sounded rude. He hoped not, he wouldn't want Honeydawn to think he was annoying or mean. He wasn't like that at all. He always had a way of messing up words. He hoped not only would he learn hunting and fighting skills but maybe catch on to her kind, social ways as well.

"Not at all," Honeydawn attempted reassuring him, standing and blinking at the tom, "There is only one border, but I do wish for you to know exactly where our territory ends and StormClan's begins. After that, I'm going to take you on a tour around the territory and show you our most notable landmarks. I hope you weren't excited about learning to hunt or fight today, because we'll probably be too tired for that by the time the tour's over - or, at least, I'll be too tired for it. Senior warriors just don't have the energy that apprentices do, you know," Honeydawn purred for a moment at her own joke before turning and padding towards the large hill that, at the top, signaled the difference between StormClan and WhisperClan.

"As you can probably tell by the way I'm going, if you come out of our camp, simply take a right turn and go forward to the top of the hill, which is quite a climb, to make it to StormClan territory," Honeydawn called behind her, waving her tail.

Lionpaw was so relieved that there would be no hunting or fighting today. He was excited to learn more about Whisperclan's territory and really respected Honeydawn for starting with that. It made him way less nervous about his training. Lionpaw purred a little showing his sharp teeth a bit. "Oh good. That sounds like a great way to start my training." He started behind Honeydawn keeping up with her eye step. "It is quite the hill." Finally he caught up to her a bit before quietly asking her about Stormclan. He knew nothing about the other clans, he had only been to one gathering as an apprentice. "Honeydawn, would you mind telling me about the other clans? I truly know nothing about them or Whisperclan's history." He loved learning about the other clans. He only knew the little bit that the elders had told him in a few of their stories.

Honeydawn flicked an ear, glad that her apprentice was asking questions; without questions to answer, it would feel like anything she told him would be bothersome to the apprentice because he might not have wanted to learn. Overall, Lionpaw asking questions made the whole situation less awkward, so Honeydawn answered, "Well, the Clans are all very unique. StormClan is in a pine and spruce type of forest, and they hunt a lot of forest animals as well as fish. You see, to their right, there is a large river that acts as the border between StormClan and MidnightClan. From there, MidnightClan is in an oak forest and they eat mainly forest prey, taking less fish from the river than StormClan. To their right is LeafClan, and they live in a large birch-filled area. You'll rarely find them walking on solid ground, to be honest; they love their trees. To the right of them is SunsetClan, who live on a beach. Actually, the very back of their territory is a jungle, but I don't think they bother going there much. As you can probably expect, SunsetClan's primary source of food comes from the sea they live close to, and they're very used to water."

Taking a pause, Honeydawn hoped to let all of the information sink into Lionpaw's mind before telling him about WhisperClan's history, "A long time ago, WhisperClan was, like it is now, a Clan like all of the others. However, in a large war, we were pretty much taken out, and the remaining cats scattered. Years later, cats who had descended from old WhisperClanners came back and restarted the Clan. My sister and I were actually born right after our mother, whose ancestors were here, came with the others."

Lionpaw sat for a moment at the top of the hill. Staying close to Honeydawn for protection, just in case. His eyes lit up with wonder as she went clan by clan, explaining their ways. He was most intrigued by Sunsetclan. How could they survive on mainly fish? Lionpaw's favorite source of food was definitely not things that came from the sea. He looked over at Leafclan's territory for a moment. He imagined them as creatures with wings. He couldn't climb to save his life.

His eyes turned to Honeydawn, the curiosity still beaming through them as he listened closely. "Wow, Honeydawn." He said as his eyes grew even larger. She had been in the clan for so many moons, he had only been alive for seven. He couldn't imagine the things she must have witnessed in her many moons. "What was the war over? Who attacked us? Why?" He had so many questions now. He couldn't imagine a war so big that Whisperclan was practically taken out all together. This instilled a good amount of fear over Lionpaw. He hoped one day that he too would be strong enough to fight with the others, and protect his clan if need be. but for now, he was young and scared.

"but everything is peaceful now....right Honeydawn?" He wasn't sure. He knew nothing about clan politics or the relationships between Whisperclan and the others. He wondered if they were on good terms with the other clans. He knew that tensions between the clans and Leafclan were a little bitter, but other then that, he wasn't even sure what Leafclan had done in the first place that was so horrible.
