Lionpaw stopped his paws from padding along. He could feel eyes on him, almost as if they were beaming right through him. He felt a slight chill, Leaf-fall was on the way. but that wasn't the reason for the coldness running down his spine. He slowly looked up, the trees gave a peaceful yet eerie shadow onto the blue sky, and then he heard it. The sound of a huge bird, calling out to its bird friends. He was terrified. He turned his body and ran, as fast as his legs could take him. The sound of leaves crunching under his paws, his breathe heavy with fear. He turned to look behind him but didn't stop running. Nothing was chasing him, he had ran far away from where the large hawk was sitting. And then his body hit something. Like an oak tree in his path, he came to a complete stop. Falling on the ground before looking up at a she-cat he had just plowed into.

Echowhisker had been hunting when she heard a horrible screeching sound. Her eyes filled with fear, for she was alone in the forest or so she thought. She ran, looking for a hiding when she bumped into a little tom, just as scared as she was.

"Hello Lionpaw. What are you doing out here?" She mewed. Her voice was sweet, and her filled with warmth at the sight of another cat.

Lionpaw was happy to have another cat around. He recognized her as Echowhisker. "Hi Echowhisker. Not much, I was talking a walk through the forest, but then I saw a giant hawk and ran away." He wasn't any good with words, the poor awkward cat. He had been out getting dangerously close to the boarder for a while now. He wanted to see for himself what Honeydawn was talking about when it came to clan boundaries. He could see Stormclan from the hill when Honeydawn was talking about it, but he wanted to test his limits for himself and go to the boarder. He had tried hunting a little but he hadn't learned anything about hunting yet. So he had caught literally nothing.

"Yeah, I heard that Hawk too." She mewed, filling her eyes with warmth, so fear wouldn't show. When she was a kiyytpet anf was seny outside for the first time, she had run into an angry hawk, and her nother had saved her. She looked ar the apprentince, abd she smiled saying, "Don't worry, it's gone now." Hopefully.

Lionpaw looked at Echowhisker's eyes. She seemed welcoming and friendly. She always had seemed that way. He tilted his head a little as young cat normally did when they spoke, "Good. Cause I haven't learned any fighting skills from Honeydawn yet! I would be eaten up!" He laughed a little still kind of nervous over seeing the hawk. "What are you doing out here, Echowhisker?" He didn't know much about her and he was a curious little thing. He had billions of questions waiting to be let out at any moment. but he was trying to learn social skills, and his father always said it was rude to ask other cats too much about themselves. It made it seem like you were just trying to get information to use against them.

"I was just out hunting for the clan." She mewed, her voice as sweet as a queen even though she is one, "I have to have enough milk to feed Poppyblaze's kits." She started to purr and then she looked at Lionpaw. "Wanna help? If you need some practice, this is the perfect time. I'll help you if the hawk comes back."

Lionpaw looked at her for a moment before realizing that she was a queen. "Oh, Echowhisker! I didn't know you were expecting kits! Congratulations!" He might have been awkward but he knew basic social skills. "You have other kits too right? Or is this your first litter?" He wasn't sure but he had thought she had older young too. "Oh of course! I would love to help you. Will your kits be here soon?" He realized that she could not possibly protect him if the hawk came back. She had kits to think about. He secretly planned to help her if anything bad were to happen. but he doubted that the hawk would come back anyways.

Echowhisker purred I'm amusement, "I'm not expecting kits. Poppyblaze's were just born, but she was taken to Starclan after they were born. I did have one litter of kits, but they're apprentinces now." She looked at Lionpaw, hoping she didn't scare him or anything.

Lionpaw was slightly embarrassed but he laughed it off. "Oh goodness! I knew you had kits at some point. I wasn't sure if you were expecting or already had older kits. It's very nice of you to take in Poppyblaze's kits. How many did she have?" Lionpaw had never had the pleasure of meeting Poppyblaze. He didn't even knew she had passed on to Starclan. Of course the clan was big though, he didn't know many of the other cats. Even some of the apprentices were random to him.
