What's in this thread?
In this thread, we will answer some very common questions from new members, as well as give you a few tutorials for things, such as making a Chatango account and character creation!
Question: I'm new here! Where do I make my first character?
Answer: For any character you make, go to the board titled "Pending Applications", then go to the thread titled "Character Application" (click here to view it). After you've copied the code, head back to the main Pending Applications board and select any of the sub-boards there, depending on where you want your character to live.
Click the "New Thread" button, paste in the application, fill it out, and wait for a staff member to check it.
If your application is denied, the staff member will state things that need to be fixed. Simply hit the "Edit" button on the application's first post, fix what's needed, finish the edit, and post again on the application so the staff member will know it's fixed. If you do not do this, you may end up waiting forever because the staff will think that you haven't finished editing the application yet.
If you need further help, please read this thread.
Question: What names are accepted here? Can I name my character Auroradance?
Answer: No. Only prefixes and suffixes used in the books can be used here. Ancient Clan names and tribe names do not count. Only Clan names will be accepted. We also reserve the right to deny any SkyClan names because they've been said in canon to not be very traditional.
We do sometimes allow suffixes to be used as prefixes and vice-versa; an example being a cat with "fire" as a suffix rather than a prefix. We also have the right to deny any names like this if we believe that they don't make sense. We wouldn't accept a Peltkit or a Furkit, for example.
Also, as a small note: we do accept Moon- and Sun- here. While they've been said to not be canon, and they were mistakes, the Erins have used Sun- more than once. These prefixes are their mistakes and they should've edited them out before the books were published, so Moon- and Sun- are fair game.
For a list of acceptable suffixes and prefixes, please click here.
Names cannot be used more than once, so click here for a list of used names. Yes, there are a lot of them there. No, we're not going to clear the list anytime soon. Use CTRL + F and type in the desired name to see if it has been used or not.
Question: What are leaves?
Answer: Leaves are AWRP's currency. They're used in the AWRP Store. You receive 5 leaves per post on most boards and you can receive more in special events, contests, etc.
No, it are not real money. No, you do not have to pay real money. No, I cannot give you real money.
Question: How do I get leaves?
You receive 5 leaves for each post made that is not in the Games board. You can also get 50 leaves each day by voting for AWRP on the various topsites linked in this thread *click*. Leaves are also given out as prizes for Special Events and contests.
Question: Where is Firestar and all of the other book cats/Clans/territories?
Answer: Nowhere. They never existed as far as the cats on AWRP are concerned.
Question: Can my cat come from WaterClan, a Clan I made up? They're very far away from these Clans, and my cat traveled from there.
Answer: No. These Clans are the only Clans that exist in this world.
Question: Alright, well, can my cat come from Africa or something?
Answer: Unless your cat is a kittypet, no. These cats are somewhere in the east coast of the United States, though I've never actually specified an area. Unless they're kittypets, cats cannot come from anywhere but the United States. I don't think a cat could swim here from Africa on their own.
Question: Can you give me a summary of each of the Clans?
Answer:
MidnightClan is the ThunderClan and RiverClan mix of the bunch. They live in an oak forest with a river to their left. The river is the border between MidnightClan and StormClan. They hunt mostly in the forest but fish on occasion, though they do not swim.
StormClan is the RiverClan and ShadowClan mix. They live in a large spruce/pine forest with the river to their right. They usually hunt in the river with a bit of forest prey as well. They do swim.
LeafClan is the ThunderClan and SkyClan combination. MidnightClan is to the left of them while SunsetClan is at their right. They live in a large birch forest and usually travel by leaping from tree to tree.
SunsetClan is the RiverClan and WindClan group. Their camp is on a beach, though behind it is a jungle. With the exception of the medicine cats, SunsetClan focuses its attention on the large sea before it. The water from this sea runs down and creates the Pond of Truce and is the source of the river between StormClan and MidnightClan. SunsetClanners swim often and their main source of prey is, of course, fish. They are very lithe and can run fast. To their left is LeafClan and to their right the twolegplace.
WhisperClan is just like WindClan. They live in a large meadow decorated with beautiful, vibrant flowers. They're generally the fastest runners and mainly hunt rabbits and other small animals. To their left is the forest where FrostClan once was and to their right is a large, steep hill that marks the border with StormClan.
TalonClan would be a good ShadowClan and SkyClan mix. They live on a mountain, their camp being a cave with several tunnels and smaller caves acting as dens, and they do a lot of bird hunting. Along with StormClan, these cats tend to be the largest and strongest. They do not border any of the Clans.
Question: CAN I BECOME STAFF??!!!1!!!!ONE!!!!??
Answer: Probably not. If you ask, then your chances drop to about 0. While I do like someone who has a strong desire to help, I'd prefer picking people myself rather than people picking themselves.
If I feel like you're ready to become staff, the first step is being an app-checker. You'll achieve this when your applications rarely need fixes and when you've been around for a few months and you know, in general, what we accept/don't accept.
After that, if you stick around long enough, and the need arises, you'll probably become a moderator. Moderators help me keep everything in check, and are basically admins with less power.
If you've stuck around for a long time, well, you might just become a co-admin! Co-admins are extremely trusted members who help me out with more advanced stuff and help me make big decisions.
Question: Why did a staff member tell me that my cat can't have blue eyes? She's a black cat with white paws, so that's enough white, right?
Answer: If you look into cat genetics, you'll find that cats with a base of white fur are generally the only ones that can have blue eyes. Four little paws of white is definitely not a majority. While it has been said that it's possible for a cat with only a little white to have blue eyes, it's so rare that we consider it unrealistic and do not accept it.
After all, if we didn't, we'd have cats with blue eyes and only a chest of white running around, and it really isn't very plausible for that to happen.
Question: Why did a staff member put on my application that my kit character can't be alone?
Answer: A kitten under the age of 6 months really isn't likely to survive for more than a few hours in real life, especially if they're newborns. Newborn kittens need milk very often, so they wouldn't be able to survive on their own for several months.
When creating applications, please keep in mind that a cat under the age of six months without a Clan/twoleg/adult cat to care for it cannot be on its own for longer than 12 hours.
Question: Can my non-Clan cat believe in StarClan?
Answer: If they've come in contact with a Clan cat for whatever reason (a parent, friend, etc.) and that Clan cat told them about StarClan, then sure, if they want to believe in StarClan, they can.
However, if they have never spoken to a Clan cat before about StarClan, then no, they wouldn't know about StarClan, and how could they believe in something they've literally never heard of? I highly doubt they'd have thought of it themselves.
Question: What happens to my non-Clanner when they die?
Answer: We did, at one point, have boards called the Flower Fields and the Death Lands, where good and bad, respectively, non-Clanners went at death.
However, these boards were never posted on, so I decided to get rid of them. I can bring them back at any time should the need for them arise, however.
Question: What happens if my medicine cat has kittens?
Answer: That really depends. We have a system where all forbidden relationships must be posted on a certain thread and a roll using random.org will be done for whether or not the couple gets caught.
If that roll is successful, then how the medicine cat is caught is up to the roleplayers involved. Even if it fails, you can do whatever you want with that.
The punishments involved are all up to the leader and StarClan, so if you plan on your medicine cat having kits, you might want to make sure your Clan's leader is super nice, unless you wish to torture your character (which I wouldn't be against).
Question: How do my same-sex characters have kittens?
Answer:
If the pair is biologically male and male, then you and the roleplayer of your character's mate can put in a litter roll request with an NPC queen. The kittens will be "born" 4 days later, as usual, and given to a Clan queen to nurse. The kittens will only biologically belong to one of the males, but each male can have up to two free litters and unlimited store-bought litters.
If the pair is biologically female and female, then the process is the same as the above (minus the adoptive queen) but with a NPC father instead.
Question: The roleplayer of my kitten's mother left the forum without ever making a birth thread or PMing the players of the kits! What do I do?
Answer: Play the kit as normal. If you want, you can ask around for a foster mother, but it's not necessary.
Question: When I try to log in, all I get is the home page! What should I do?
Answer: You can use CTRL + Shift + are if you're on a Windows computer (which is probably Command + Shift + are on a Mac, but I don't have much experience with Mac) to reset the browser. If that doesn't work clear your cache and cookies. If none of those solutions is working out, use a different browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) for a day or so, and it should be fine after that.
Question: I have been posting, but leaves aren't being added to my account. Why is this?
Answer: It's just a bug with the monetary system plugin, not much that can be done. If this happens to you, you are permitted to post once every two weeks at minimum on the Staff Request board to get your leaf amount updated.
Question: Why was my StarClan or Dark Forest cat rejected?
Answer: StarClan and Dark Forest cats must be either purchased or have been cats that were killed off in-character. This is to keep them somewhat special, rather than overpopulated, because they use up names and aren't played very often. They do not count in the rule of first nine cats.
