Jayleaf sat on the slopes. The cool breeze ruffled her fur, almost like ripples on a moonlight lake. She sighed. It was so lonely at this time. Everyone else was snuggled up in camp, sharing tongues and boasting about their best catches. For once Jayleaf wished for some company. She looked up at the stars and they seemed to say to her you've got us for company... Jayleaf growled I want real company, live company. She looked desperately at the sinking sun. It's red and orange beams struck her fur turning it silver. Jayleaf closed her eyes and let the last warm rays of the sun warm her heart.

Brackenflame had been watching everyone else share tongues and sighed the tip of his tail twitching. He wasn't in the mood to watch his clan mates share tongues without him of course it wasn't like he had gone and tried to share tongues with anyone. He wasn't really sure he wanted to share tongues with anyone they were all talking about Fangstars decision to make a former Leafclanner deputy. He wished that they would give it a rest already he was tired of hearing about it. Scowling he got up and walked out of camp ignoring a few of his clan mates who greeted him. He wasn't really sure where he wanted to go he still trying to decide when he caught Jayleafs scent. 'What is she doing out here?' he thought frowning. He really didn't know Jayleaf that well but he supposed that he should go see if she was okay. He started following her scent trail and realized that it headed towards the slopes. He reached the slopes and looked around spotting his new den mate. He frowned and started towards her his eyes scanning the area around him before he reached her side. "Hello, is the spot taken," he asked indicating the spot next to her his eyes were filled with warmth. He had gotten over what ever had made him at weird during the clan meeting. He wasn't trying to hide his emotions like he had been during the meeting.

Jayleaf looked around with surprise. She had been so intent on the sun and sky that she hadn't heard Brackenflame approach. She smiled and mewed No, you can sit there. As he sat down Jayleaf noticed the warmth in his eyes. They sat for a moment in silence before she mewed So.. What brings you out here this evening?

[Sand]

Btackenflame snorted with amused curling his tail over her paws fixing his gaze on the sunset before answering her question. "I'm just tired of everyone talking about Wolfshadow. You would think that was the first time a deputy who was chosen wasn't born in the clan they had become deputy of," he meowed glancing at Jayleaf. "Though honestly I'm not sure if Fangstar made the right choice about that either. Wolfshadow hadn't proven his loyalty yet," he meowed frowning. "So, what do you think about Fangstars choice of deputy?" he asked her tilting his head to the side.

Jayleaf looked at him. She felt funny on the inside as she mewed I guess his decision was okay, I mean he hasn't proven his loyalty but is a good warrior.... She trailed off awkwardly. I'm glad that you came tonight.

[Sand]

Brackenflame turned his attention away from the sunset and gazed at Jayleaf giving her a smile. "Yeah me to, I like how quiet it is out here," he meowed looking around. He glance over at her wondering what had brought her out here. "So what brought you out here?" he asked her the tip of his tail twitching. He was curious to why she wasn't in camp sharing tongues with her clan mates. He just hadn't been in the mood to hear everyone go on and on about Wolfshadow. He had always respected Fangstar and supposed that he knew what he was doing.

Jayleaf looked at him and considered whether to tell him her biggest secret. She mewed Ever since my mother died, I have preferred to be alone. I sometimes feel that I just, well need to get away from everything. but now, she paused and looked at Brackenflame with affection in her eyes before whispering you've changed that.

[Sand]

Brackenflame looked at her started and wondered whether to tell her something that he had always kept hidden. "I'm glad that my mother is still alive, but....I never knew my father and because of that I sometimes feel like I don't belong," he meowed glancing at her. "Your to pretty to be sad," he murmured his eyes filled with gentleness and care. He cared for her even though he had just met her. He also realized what he had just said and was embarrassed. He had just told a cat that he barely knew that she was pretty he hadn't been thinking. He had said the first thing that came to mind which was so unlike him.

Well, I think that you belong with me. Jayleaf couldn't stop the words falling from her mouth. Why had she said that? Jayleaf hoped that he understood. I-I just, you take away my breath a-and I feel so strange on the inside. Is this love? She thought, I can't, I've just met him! but even Jayleaf had to admit that it was true.

[Sand]

Brackenleaf turned towards her his eyes glowing he forgot about watching the sunset and purred. "I feel the same way even though we just met. My heart is racing and I feel like I can do anything," he meowed his eyes glowing. He knew this was love it was the only possible solution to how he felt. He knew it was crazy to fall in love with someone he barely knew but he didn't care. Some cats might love each other but would be friends forever because they couldn't express their feelings while others became mates fast because they could express their feelings.

Jayleaf gazed at him with longing in her eyes. Brackenflame, I think I love you. She blurted. The silver she-cat looked away. She had just met him.... Jayleaf looked up at the sky. Please help me, I don't know what to do! A shooting star flew across the sky, landing just beyond Brackenflame. Could it be a sign? No, I'm no medicine cat. but still, Jayleaf looked at Brackenflame again, this time with certainty in her eyes.

Brackenflame had turned to watch the sky his heart racing as a million thoughts flashed through his mind. He then turned his attention back towards her so he could speak. He thought that it was rude to speak to someone without looking them in the eye. "I love you to," he meowed with determination. He had never spoke with this much determination before it was like he was saying the most important thing he had ever said.

Jayleaf purred and rested her tail on his shoulder. She felt happier than she had in moons. Her heart was soaring and Jayleaf felt like she could do anything. Jayleaf stood up and mewed in a soft voice well, are you coming back to camp? The moon had risen and the temperature had dropped. but Jayleaf failed to feel cold near Brackenflame.

"Sure let's go before someone comes looking for us," he purred touch his noise to her ear before heading the slope. He felt like he could do anything and he kept glancing over his shoulder to make sure that Jayleaf was following. "I also have to choose a nest," he meowed glancing back at her with a purr.

She sprang up the slope next to him, I hope you choose one near mine..... She looked at him and put on an extra burst of speed, Race ya! She yowled after her as the ground flattened out and she could run freely. Brackenflame was amazing!
