Saturn followed Flintcloud into the leaf clan camp looking around. The kittypet curled her tail around her mates as they walked up to the leader's den. She sat down with a small huff. I the pregnant she-cat wondered if the tom known at Froststar was there. "Flintcloud do you think your leader will actually let me join?" she whispered as to not let any other cat hear.

The sun hung like the bright yellow eye of a great cat above the meadow, and Froststar stepped out of his den to take a look around the camp, surveying the dens for decay and the fresh kill pile for size. It was a hot day, and his clanmates milled about doing their duties or sharing tongues at the fresh kill pile.

He opened his mouth to scent the air, and caught a strange scent. Kittypet? At the very least, it was good manners for a kittypet to stop outside of their camp and wait to be welcomed, but he supposed some were so mousebrained that they just didn't know proper manners. Bristling, his tail fluffed out and standing straight up, the white LeafClan leader padded toward the unfamiliar cat with his eyes narrowed. "Greetings!" He said brightly, looking from the kittypet to Flintcloud, who had apparently escorted the intruder. "What's the meaning of this?"

Saturn looked to the white tom approaching.she loomed over to flintcloud and started to speak. "Well um, Flintcloud is my mate. He brought me here to leafclan because my twolegs have abandonded me." Though this tom seemed nice the kittypet still positioned herself carefully the best she could
to hide her swollen belly."What I am trying to say is...may I join your clan?"

Looking from the swollen she-cat to Flintcloud in disbelief, Froststar's eyes became stony with thought. If Silverstar was still leader... what would she do? Run these cats both out of the clan, certainly. Call them both rogues if she didn't kill them both or at least rip their ears up a bit. StarClan had chosen him to lead because he was nothing like the previous leader... but this blatant disregard for the rules was something no leader could respect. Flintcloud certainly had some explaining to do.

The empathy within him for the coming kits made him soft, but his responsibility begged him to turn them away. "Flintcloud is your mate?" He said slowly, making sure he heard that right. "I'm sure Flintcloud remembers that taking a mate outside of the clan is forbidden. I sympathize with your situation, but without knowing how you two came to meet, I can't say yes." His brow was creased with disappointment. LeafClan really was falling apart if clan cats were leading intruders in and demanding they become part of the clan.

Flintcloud looked with sad eyes to Saturn. "...I understand, Froststar, I do... It's just... I can't imagine what would happen if the kits never knew their father.. And It's not Saturn's fult she was born a kittypet... She can make it up after the kits are born." He pleaded. The tom bowed to his leader, begging him.

Saturn sighed trying to thinknfor a moment. "It would be worse that the kits be born in a dangerous place. After all I cant go back to my stupid two-legs." she added to her mates comment and waited or the leader to maybe re consider. "No kit deserves to be born into the life where everything is a danger." she finished and sat down resting her aching paws.

Looking from rulebreaker to mate, Froststar's gaze was incredulously pitted against the young couple. They made a fair point. For the sake of the kits- innocent things with clan blood flowing through their veins- his paw was being forced to accept. but there must be repercussions. He cut his eyes at Flintcloud. "Its not her fault that she was born a kittypet, but it is your fault that the two of you face such a desperate situation now. You've broken the warrior code, Flintcloud. Don't you understand? Thats grounds for expulsion from clan lands."

He sighed, a long deep sigh. Cats would be cats, he supposed. There was no stopping their hearts wherever they might wander. He turned his attention to Saturn, giving her a good sniff. "Saturn, is it?" His voice was kindly, but he sounded exhausted. "Don't worry. For the sake of your kits, I'm not sending anyone away. You'll be able to stay."

Now here came the hard part. His warm blue gaze became stony, like chunks of arctic ice crashing into a scabbed shoreline. "but you will no longer be a kittypet. You may never return to that life. You will take a clan name- an apprentice name- and after your kits are weaned you will join them in their training to become a warrior as if you were their littermate. Clan life is all about teamwork. If you wish to stay here, you will have to learn to do things exactly as we do them... and you must learn our code." He cast a sharp, berating glance at Flintcloud. "Which includes not socializing with cats outside of our clan. If you have any kittypet friends, you will have to leave them behind."

Next, Flintcloud. Advancing on the tom, Froststar shoved his nose into Flintcloud's face, his eyes glimmering with passionate betrayal- as though the blow Flintcloud dealt to the warrior code was a strike across his face. "As for you. I'll go easy on you, Flintcloud. Until you can prove yourself to be worthy of the responsibility of being a warrior, you do not deserve the freedom it affords you. Until your kits and your mate are ready to become apprentices, you must remain in camp to care for them. That means no hunting, no patrols. You will spend the next six moons picking ticks off of elders and cleaning up moss. And if I catch you leaving camp before your six moons are up, I will drive you out." It pained him to be so harsh, but clearly cats these days didn't understand the rules.

There were no exceptions. He could not be his usual kind self in a situation like this. LeafClan had strayed desperately from the way of the warrior code, and Froststar had to bring it back. Flintcloud and his mate's punishment was just the beginning of a new era.

(( OOC: Froststar requires that all loners take clan names when they join and be treated as apprentices. I'll give you a chance to choose Saturn's prefix for her name change. It would be best if you resubmitted her application with her new name- or, if she's going to continue to call herself Saturn but be referred to as another name, you can leave Saturn on her application but list her clan name alongside it. I also suggest that you make arrangements to find her a mentor after her kits are born! She'll be able to move up to being a warrior at the same speed as the apprentices. I will also be making a note about Flintcloud's new limitations on the LeafClan list.

Froststar can be harsh! If you're not okay with the name change and being downgraded to apprentice level, then he cannot accept them. ))

IC: Saturn listened in silence as Froststar explained the cercumstances that the she-cat had earlier accepted. "I understand everything." she said simply though she meant a lot by it. The kittypet turned to her mate hoping he would agree to his punishment.

Flintcloud nodded to the leader. "I accept, Froststar. Thank you for your understanding..." He looked over at his beloved mate. He would accept these terms for the kits-- and her. He thought it couldn't be that bad. At least for six moons, anyway.

Froststar sighed heavily. At least they were agreeable enough. It saved him a lot of trouble if Flintcloud could truly accept his punishment.

However, it was still deeply troubling for the rest of the clan. Until Saturn learned to hunt like a warrior- if she was EVER able to learn, as kittypets were notoriously soft-pawed and squeamish- she would be a burden on the clan, and with Flintcloud stuck in camp...

He would have to increase patrols, that was for sure. At least increasing patrols might keep clan cats in their own territories. Stronger borders might also keep kittypets out.

It was truly a shame. Nevertheless, Froststar smiled at the two, and leaned forward, touching his nose to Saturn's ear in acceptance. "Then I hereby accept this cat into LeafClan." He had to make it sound official, at least. His voice grew firm and stern- a deep rumble. "Saturn, from today you cast off your kittypet shackles and join the ranks of the clans. With StarClan's acceptance, you will one day walk among their ranks. I hereby name you Thrushpaw. Welcome to LeafClan."

Feeling official, Froststar nodded sagely, and waved his tail. "Flintcloud, you can show Thrushpaw to the nursery."

The sun shone high as a patrol came back. Thrushpaw explains to Froststar that the patrol found a abondened kit. Thrushpaw tells Froststar that he might be a kittypet. To be sure Froststar Froststar checks the cats pelt for a collar. Froststar accepted the abondened kit into the clan as Swiftkit.
