Venom (MidnightClanner's Death - OPEN)

[Midnight]

Nobody saved her in this thread so I'm killing her off. This is definitely a new trend with my characters now.

@goldenbird (Mothcloud/Ambereye? It'd be super awesome if you made a thread for her vigil), Lightningtrail (Silvershine?), @lilykit (Spottedsky, please), Lemonade (Finchpaw could hop in?), @grandjury (if you'd like to post with Timberpaw and so you know that Nightpaw's dead), and Isilme with Mudpatch.

This is going to make very little sense because I don't really know how snake venom works and she prooobbaabbllyyy should've died after the first bite, but screw it.

When Nightpaw had woken up from passing out, she could barely move and her lungs burned. The black-furred she-cat managed to drag herself back to camp, completely unaware of what happened to Silvershine and Ambereye. The snake had found her again when she was near the camp's entrance, and when it bit her, Nightpaw gained some adrenaline and actually broke into a run for the medicine den. She made it and flopped down, her lungs having issues again from the next bout of venom, and let out a weak moan of pain. "I... Don't let any other apprentice train... Snake Briars." Nightpaw managed to get out, hoping at least one cat heard. She knew there was no hope for her, but she desperately wanted to see any Clanmate's face before StarClan took her. Nightpaw needed some comfort, even if she didn't exactly have many friends in the Clan.

Timberpaw prickled his ears at the sound of Nightpaw's rasping.

"Nightpaw?" he asked cautiously, all dignity forgotten. "Nightpaw!" he immediately stood up from his area, outside the apprentice's den, and raced towards the sound of her voice. "Nightpaw! Are you okay? Talk to me, Nightpaw! We were going to have a great destiny together..." he choked out. Even though they hadn't talked as much as he'd thought as kits, he was still well aquainted with her.

Only now did he realize she had become his best friend...

[Isilme]

Mudpatch was having a walk around camp, staying in the nursery all that time was not for her at all, her paws were getting dirty with the wet mud because of the melting snow, that quite annoyed the white she cat.
Thats when she saw an apprentice come running inside the camp direct to the medicine cat den, it was strange enough without another apprentice shouting desparate from inside there, she rushed to see what was happening.
"By Starclan Nightpaw!" She meowed looking over the apprentice. "Oh dear you got bitten..." The queen looked around hoping to find the medicine cat but he was not there and Mudpatch couldn't do anything to help.
Wanting to confort the fading life she layed down next to the apprentice enveloping her with her body. "Try to relax Nightpaw it will be over soon..." Mudpatch purred feeling sadness stirr in her but holding it back for the apprentice sake.

Spottedsky sighed; It had been quite peaceful for the last couple of days, the omen showing no signs of appearing. Of course, that was good, but even if it did show up, it would be bad in more than one way. First, it would terrorize the clan, and second, it would ruin his reputation. How could his clan trust him if Starclan had decided to send the omen to his apprentice and not him? It made him frustrated when thinking of it, but of course, he knew Starclan had a plan.

He was sorting the herbs, hoping he wouldn't have to use them today. He was so distant, and he wasn't so sure that he could deal if someone had gotten hurt.

Please, oh please, let everyone be alright.

He prayed this thought, repeating over and over in his head as he continued sorting his herbs.

but sadly, that was not the case today.

His head snapped towards the directions of the raping, his voice clearly trying to hold itself together. "N-nightpaw? What happened?" He slightly stuttered, running over to her. He looked through her fur, trying to find a cause for the apprentice's health.

[Isilme]

"She was bitten by a snake." Mudpatch supplied the medicine cat. "It have been too long ago already I don't think there's anything we can do." She looked at the cat a little acusing why he had not been there earlier? He could have saved her! but she was not about to start a fight right now.

[Deku]

Sorrelwhisker padded over to the fresh-kill pile and started to grab a mouse when he saw a crowd of cats gathering in front of the apprentice den. What was happening? Was something wrong? He rushed over and looked into see Spottedsky standing over Nightpaw, his and Squirrelfire's adopted daughter. "Nightpaw! What's wrong Spottedsky?" She may have been his adopted daughter, but he still loved her like his own kit.

[Midnight]

Several cats came in, and though Nightpaw was glad to see so many familiar faces, she was beginning to feel dizzier at the sight of so many cats filling up the small medicine den. The first cat in was Timberpaw, which filled Nightpaw with a mixture of happiness and irritation. He was a great source of annoyance as a kit, but at the same time, he was also very entertaining. "Hey, Timberpaw," Nightpaw spoke weakly, sounding as though she were 90 moons old rather than 8 moons old. "Heh, yeah, but I messed up, Timberpaw. I messed up... trained against snakes. Timberpaw, promise me.. have a... have a good destiny for me, okay?." A light shone in her eyes as she stared at Timberpaw, willing him to have a good life, even though he'd be living without her. He was right: they were going to have a good destiny together, whether that meant they would be the best of friends or something more later on. Either way, they were going to become some of the greatest warriors the Clans had ever seen. They'd be feared in battle and they'd bring back more prey than any cat could count.

And now it was only him.

When Mudpatch entered, Nightpaw sighed. She knew Mudpatch was trying to be comforting, but it was hard to think like that when Nightpaw didn't want to let go. She wasn't ready for it to be over, and in spite of knowing that Mudpatch didn't necessarily mean life in general, it was definitely the direction Nightpaw was going in, and no cat could deny that. By the way the warrior spoke, Nightpaw guessed that Mudpatch had never been bitten by a snake, never known the true amount of pain her whole body was in. There were sharp pains, but most of it was a dull, aching pain, but it was everywhere.

Spottedsky rushed over. Nightpaw could hardly answer, but eventually, she managed to cough the word "Snake" out. The she-cat's gaze moved slowly from Timberpaw to Spottedsky. Unfortunately, it seemed she spoke too slowly, for Mudpatch had figured it out before Nightpaw got the word out. Man, it sucked being in this state. Nightpaw felt like she was between life and death. She was in pain, but at the same time, her brain was kind of numb, like everything was happening and yet nothing was happening.

And at that point, Sorrelwhisker padded in. If any cats were going to be taking a huge hit out of this, they were Timberpaw and Sorrelwhisker, two of the four MidnightClan cats who'd showed up just in time to see this whole thing play out. Figures that everything would align so that the two cats in the Clan who held Nightpaw to be fairly important in their lives would be some of the few who had to see her die. She couldn't imagine the emotional pain they were going to go through in a few minutes, when she knew she'd be gone.

Spottedsky's fur ruffled, "Snake?" He hissed, he ran back to his den, looking for his herbs. He grabbed as much Snakeroot as he could, hoping it could cure the poison. He them grabbed poppy seeds and deathberries. Of course, he wasn't going to give it to Nightpaw; it was just a very last resort if the pain was too much. He came back, placing the herbs down. He grabbed a mouthful of snakeroot, placing it on the spot where the bite was. He then slowly placed poppy seeds in front of her. "If the pain becomes too much, motion me some way. but for now, eat these, they will hopefully ease the pain."

This was his first time healing a snake bite. Hopefully he did that right thing. It was the best he could do for now.

[Stormsy]

Squirrelfire heard a commotion from where she was sitting, washing her pelt. She got worried once her mate rushed into the den. The ginger she-cat shot up and followed behind a few tail-lengths after Sorrelwhisker. A gasp escaped her throat when she saw her adopted daughter laying there, dying. "N-Nightpaw..." she breathed out. The black cat had never seemed to like her, so she didn't really try...now, she was immensely regretting that choice. "I'm so sorry," the queen added in a whisper, unsure of how to speak what she was feeling.

The adopted mother of this apprentice could tell. She knew that look in her eyes, slowly but surely glazing over. She had managed to push through to a spot right next to the cat she had called her own, pressing her pink nose into Nightpaw's fur, hoping to breathe in as much of her scent as she could. Squirrelfire let out a squeak, one of pain and regret and sorrow and fear. I messed up! I should have been around her more, I was a terrible mother! I shouldn't be having a second litter if I couldn't take care of the cats in my first litter. Even if she wasn't technically mine, I thought of her as so. It stung, knowing that she hadn't even tried...

"StarClan, spare her so I can fix this..." Squirrelfire spoke softly and quickly, her own eyes glazing over but with sadness instead of death. "I'm sorry...I know you won't forgive me, I know we never got along..."

The ginger she-cat stopped speaking then, figuring she was probably only making things worse. She didn't pull away though, but stayed next to the cat she grew to love, whether she would admit it or not.
