Bleak and Desolate is the life for me (Avery)

The early morning was cool and dry, the last of the leafbare snow having melted which presented a nuisance for the stark white feline that crossed over the loner territory. During leafbare, the slender loner melted into the snow covered backdrop, but once new leaf hit it was a whole different story. It wasn't dangerous for her just.. she was much easily spotten and that annoyed her. Any excuse to ignore others, including if they didn't see her suited her fine. Quickening her stride, her long legs easily ate up the distance between her position out in the open to the tree line. Upon reaching the tree cover, Arrow stretched her long athletic body right from her long legs to the grey tip at the end of her tail, her mismatched eyes scanning her surroundings. There was no other cat in sight for now but Arrow knew that could easily change unfortunately. The last thing she needed was for others to want to ..... socialize.. It wasn't something she liked or excelled at, her sharp tongue too rude and patronizing for others liking, which of course suited her just fine. It kept them away you see. Scanning her surroundings again, Arrow bunched her powerful legs and leapt up into a large tree with a leafy top, her tail the last to disappear into the foliage with a casual flick.

What a day!

The cold icy breath of Leaf-bare was finally leaving the lands that Olive called home and she couldn't help but be delighted. Green life sprung up around her as she jogged through the rows upon rows of Up-walker homes. The snow was slowly receding and cold puddles were slowly growing in size with each day. She didn't mind, she rather enjoyed running through puddles, and with kit-tish glee she hurled herself through a rather large one. Large fat drops caught the sunlight and rained down onto the black tar that covered the ground, and displayed tiny rainbows while she moved. Her dark brown tabby coat shone in the sunlight and covered the ribs that were currently protruding from her skin. It had been a tough Leaf-bare for the loner's but she knew that it would soon be Green-Leaf and she would be able to find enough prey to feed herself on. Unfortunately, she usually stole it from the Smells-Like-Fish clan (Sunset) nearby, and had almost gotten caught the last time she went. It didn't matter today though. It was a glorious day, and she was feeling great for once.

Her parents had been murdered by a vicious rogue, and left her an orphan. She had grown up with the other cat's around here, and many had taught her to fend for herself. She was now 15 moons old and felt like she was finally learning the trick's of the trade. Her heart still turned black whenever she thought of the murderer, but she wasn't going to let dark thoughts cloud her happiness. Turning the corner she saw the tree line in front of her and bolted towards her. The snow was slightly thicker here, but there was enough earth tone's to cover the tabby. Reaching the cover of the forest she slowed to a stop, and stretched luxuriously.

It was time to hunt.

The white loner was just closing her eyes to enjoy the peace and quiet of new-leaf when she heard the disastrous presence of another cat. Lifting her lip off her fangs in a silent snarl and opening those unique eyes, Arrow looked down from her hideout among the leafy tree and glared at the tabby. From Arrow's judgement, she was young and of course that meant naive and downright annoying - definitely a cat to stay away from. She had made that mistake before and had had to endure hours of incessant chatter and obsession. Arrow had heard later that the cat in particular had later been killed and though it was a sad story, Arrow couldn't help but muse if it wasn't because the mousebrain had been on the nerve of one too many cats. Which brought her thoughts back to this mousebrain.

A scent on the wind hit her. Sunsetclan? No the scent wasn't strong enough and the cat before her definitely wasn't a clanner - no, they stood out like a sore paw and she would be able to tell. Most likely, the young feline below her had been in that territory but Arrow wasn't about to take chances so instead of doing the seemingly sensible thing to do and stay in her perch, Arrow leapt down from the tree and landed with a light thump behind her unwanted companion. The other cat would probably notice her scent eventually if her head was on right and so Arrow would much rather have the upper hand. That white tail marred with the grey tip swished back and forth in a deadly laziness, her heterochromatic eyes gleaming. "Where's your mum kit?"

"Where's your mum kit?"

The feeling of icy words washed over the young she-cat and she quickly snapped out of her stretch. Looking around her she finally spotted the mostly white she-cat amongst the branches of the thick trees. Narrowing her brown eyes against the sunlight she realized that she didn't know this cat. Olive had taken it upon herself to know every single cat in the Upwalker village and had succeeded so far... except for today. The tabby feline watched the strange cat make her way gracefully down the tree and land silently in front of her. Ears flicking in surprise at the strange two-toned eyes she quickly ran her orbs over the frame of the cat before her. She was built with a stocky, but slender frame that was coated in muscles. Obviously Leaf-bare had not been harsh on this one. To her it seemed like this white cat was a fighter not a scavenger like most loners. Olive briefly reflected over how she looked, knowing that she must seem younger then what she actually was. She was thin, her coat scraggly with the in between stages of Leaf-bare and New-leaf, and her size didn't help matters.

It didn't bother her though. She had been fighting for survival since the day she was orphaned. Flashing her a quick smile Olive cocked her head slightly preferring to play dumb rather then engage in a possibly hostile loner. She just hoped this loner was extra isolated as a majority of the cats around here knew she was an orphan. "Not sure to be honest, she told me to meet her here to hunt. You haven't seen her have you?" She asked, rounding her eyes slightly for added effect. "I got lost in the Up-walker place, and I took longer then I should have. She's a darker brown tabby then I am, with a white chest." Olive laughed silently at her own sad joke as she had no idea what her mother looked like since she had never seen her. She just thought that she looked similar to her and probably had white markings, considering she had one white paw and a white chest.

Clearly sarcasm was not the little tabby's strong point. 

Mousebrain.

With a silent snarl that announced her sharp teeth, the white feline slashed at the air with her tail again. Arrow had never seen this cat before but luckily for her she had a untrusting nature - she very well might be waiting for her mother, but Arrow wasn't going to soften.

Yet when did she ever?

Moving those unusual eyes around their surroundings in a manner that spoke of years of practice, Arrow's muscles remained bunched and ready for anything. Trusting was not one of her many fine personality traits. Intelligence, rudeness and sarcasm yes, but not trusting. Those cold orbs shifted back to the small runt before her and her face carried an almost bored expression rather than one of annoyance. 

"Great." Not great. "Go wait somewhere else, or I'll see to it myself you two never find each other."

Cruel words from a cat that had once been in that position. Also an orphan, Arrow had chosen to lock herself away from others, cue sarcasm and having killing as a hobby. It was easier that way. Over the years she had.. lost touch with her morals that even loners were expected to have. And that was fine. If she was left alone.

Touchy!

Olive's face cracked into an amused expression as the she-cat's face twisted into one of pure aggression. Oh boy! A new snarky cat with their tail in a twist because someone merely breathed! Olive's laugh rang out across the forest, and she flicked her tail in delight. These cat's were always her favorite as they always gave this, "Don't talk to me, don't touch me, don't breathe my air or I'll claw your face off," vibe that just intrigued the she-cat even more. Licking her front paw she waited for the she-cat's focus to return to her. The little tabby always put up a friendly face first, and a majority of the cats that wandered around her knew her for that face, but they also knew how cold she really could be. You had to be in order to survive on the streets or else you would be on your own completely and that would mean death. Friendly first, cold and heartless afterwards. Friendly meant friends and possible allies, snarky meant no help when you needed it most. "Oh boy you are a character aren't you?" She meowed, moving towards a broken down log near by. Jumping on it lightly she returned her gaze to the white loner. "I'm Olive, who are you? I've never seen you before, and I know everyone here."

Well. Clearly she didn't, not that Arrow went around getting to know everybody. Yeah, what a joke.

The irritating cat before her was one of the reasons why Arrow kept to herself. Sure she hated clan cats and didn't want to depend on others but her blissful silence couldn't exist with a monstrosity such as the tabby before her. The last thing she needed was a useless loner on her tail, stepping on her feet and growing attached. Maybe she wasn't cruel enough. Eerie eyes had followed the smaller cat as she had moved to the log, and there they stayed, intense enough to burn, logical enough to intimidate. She didn't have time for this.

Rodents to hunt, clan cats to kill.

"I thought you knew everyone," she mocked with cold, heartless eyes to match her voice. With that, Arrow stood to her true height, her long legs making up for most of it. Then an icy snarl, "Figure it out, kittypet." The last word spoke of her disgust. The white loner whipped her lean body around and went to stalk away. No anger, annoyance or irritation came off her. Just an icy cold that threatened to snap at the last minute.

"I thought you knew everyone. Figure it out, kittypet."

Oh dear, no need to get nasty now m'dear. We're just having some fun. Leaving so soon?

Narrowing her brown eyes she watched the she-cat begin to stalk away. Anger was radiating off the tall frame in waves and would probably kill the grass that encircled her. Olive trotted to the top part of the log where several twigs stuck out at the top. Hooking a claw around the stalks she tugged enough to dislodge the medium sized seeds that were dangling off of them. Eyeing their size she nodded in delight, before taking aim and flicking them at the mysterious loner. The first one sailed over the she-cat and rolled into the bushes harmlessly. Grabbing another she flicked it towards her, hoping to either catch her in the flank or if she was lucky in the nasty face. Friendly first.

Olive purred in delight knowing her mark would be hit. "Now, before you so rudely leave on me, you simply misinterpreted what I said to you earlier." She meowed her voice slightly colder then before. "What I had said was that I know everyone here, which I do, but I do not know you. Which would say that you are new." She flicked her tail twice before continuing, her lips pulled in a cold smile. "Tell me, do you always start your interactions with insults? If you do I'm assuming your momma never taught you manners... Can I just tell you that it's incredibly rude when someone is only wanting to know what you are doing so close to their territory? Especially when that person talked to you so kindly and friendly in the beginning? However I do applaud your image. You certainly know how to deter cats with your bad temper... don't you Arrow? I've heard about you, I just needed to see you myself." A real smile creased her face now but her words hung dangerously in the air. Small yes. Clueless? No.


Friendly first, deadly the next.

As a seed speed overhead the white loner stopped with her back to the irksome cat, her body frozen, eyes glazed with a lethal sheen. That thin tail ticked softly back and forth as if counting down her patience. The second seed hit her in the back of the head. She remained still for what seemed like forever before she turned slowly to face her annoyance. By this stage, she was already half way through a rant that Arrow couldn't care less about. She could just keep on talking as far as she was concerned, as long as she wasn't around to hear it. She did pause however at the mention of her name. It was no surprise to her that others knew her name - for all her seclusion, she did make a name for herself - but this runt? 

Give me a break

Locking her gaze on the cocky she cat when she faced her once more, Arrow said nothing, her icy stare and demenour saying all that her words did not. What did she want? Arrow knew what Arrow wanted, a nice undisturbed sleep, life, eternity. Not going to happen with this pipsqueak. 

"Got a wee crush have you?" A cold smirk, seemingly there but her eyes, that scoured her body, were empty, devoid, over this conversation before it had already begun. "What do you want? Tell me before you lose the ability to."

"Got a wee crush have you? What do you want? Tell me before you lose the ability to."

A laugh bubbled from the tabby's pretty kit looking face. "Oh my, someone certainly has an interesting personality." Ears flicking around her she looked down at the white hostile cat below her. "Arrow... Arrow..." She shook her head and flashed another smile. "Drop the facade a bit won't you? I am merely wanting a conversation with you. Loner to loner as I simply refuse to associate you with the insulting label of a rogue. Speaking of which, I am pretty sure you know you are being called." Most loner's curled their lip at being called a rogue, as it was degrading and dangerous. Once you were labeled one everyone refused to associate with you or refuse to help you in a time of need. Being called a rogue was life threatening, but Olive was beginning to wonder if Arrow wanted to be called one. "Now Arrow, tell me about yourself. What's your business being here besides terrorizing the strange Clan cats? Oh yes, I heard about that little exciting incident." Olive was tiny for her size, and because of her carefree attitude many believed she was a lot younger then what she was, but she could be as equally as cruel as most, or even more so when she wanted to be. She was not the kind that you wanted as an enemy. "Once I have satisfied my curiosity I will leave you alone from now on if you so wish it."

As much as Arrow hated socializing when she didn't have to, she wasn't stupid and she knew the only way to get this pest off her tail was to suffer through her blabbering bit by bit. Oh she knew about her reputation, about how others talked about her and she liked it that way. Loner, rogue whatever they wanted to call her, as long as they were talking she couldn't care. Rumours spread fast among the wings of shadows and she knew they had already reached Sunsetclan. It would be the first of many.

Although, she guessed them calling her a rogue wasn't entirely false now was it?

Sitting curtly and tucking her tail around her long legs, Arrow eyed the pest with an icy boredom, not wanting to drop her facade at all. If this she cat knew about her as much as she said she did, then she should know that and expect nothing less. At the mention of her 'exciting incident' that cold mask dropped slightly and her eyes flashed, leering at the other feline. "That's none of your business loner, keep to yourself as you are meant to do. After all, you wouldn't want others to start calling you a rogue. That would tarnish your reputation for sure." Eyes narrowed as the idea came to mind. She too was capable of dropping a few rumours here and there. She tsked under her breath as she watched her. In fact, Arrow was proud of her solitary attack against two Sunsetclan warriors but she wasn't one to outwardly gloat, least of all with this... furball. "I don't want you to get nightmares little kit." A smirk as she inspected a sharp claw up close.
