In the Shade of the Birch (Amber)

A small animal leaped across the babbling stream that separated StormClan and MidnightClan, its small dainty paws landing without making a sound, stretching thin legs out the cat picked up her pace as if something would eat her if she slowed down. A dirty white colored pelt flashed through the forest and suddenly broke past the tree line and out into the open meadow that was between three Clans and the Pond of Truce, slowing to an easy trot the she-cat was more visible now, unless she walked in the tall grass then she was too short to see. The bright sun make her dirty colored pelt look like a brighter white, her face had faded black tabby marks, beside her face only her legs and tail had color.  Her paws a dim black, almost brown grey, her back paws looked like a rabbits the way the black flowed up them. Her tail was very odd looking, a raccoon tail one might say, whiteness dripping down into the black. 


A strong yet warm breeze whipped against Mistshades face causing her to squint, she was on a mission, one of the most importance. The young warrior ran across the field enjoying the wind that rustled her fur, the warm sun on her face and the open land before her. She hadn't told anyone that she was leaving that morning, instead she just left, she would return later once she finished what she was doing. The she-cat had made it well past MidnightClan by now, pausing to breath in she closed her bright blue eyes and inhaled the scents around her, the water, she must be near SunsetClan which meant she was near where she had to be.


Straight ahead she spotted a two-legs house, and a big one at that, parting her mouse open she inhaled the sweet scent of catnip. Perfect. She knew StormClan needed some badly but it was so far away and near three other clans it was a very dangerous trip. No worries for Mistshade walked up to a white fence that surround the garden, she quickly climbed up one of the fence posts and perched there staring down searching for the sweet smelling Catnip. Spotting it closer to the house she leaped gracefully down and trotted over to it, her mouth began to water and she thought she would drool. Thought. Mistshade was too good to do such a gross thing. Hovering over the plant she leaned down gripping the stem between her teeth and jerking to brake it away from the ground. As if an alarm went off vicious barking rang in her ears, she looked up to see a Pitbull slobbering all over a glass door and snapping his teeth closed like he was gonna bite right through it. Her ears shot up and she decided she had over stayed her welcome, charging toward the fence she shot up the side of the post and leaped down the over running into the woods that belonged to SunsetClan. Quickly like her paws didn't even have time to touch the ground, she continued to run for a good distance before slowing, the only thing that caused her to slow was the strong scent of a SunsetClanner. She knew the cat had to be close if their scent was over whelming the Catnip, panting Mistshade glanced from side to side and slowly walked ahead.


She was smart, she could run fast, climb good, swim wonderfully, hunt. she just couldn't fight and this far from StormClan there would be no one to help her. The she-cats chest moved quickly as she slowly put one paw in front of the other, her ears twitched at every little sound her nose flexed at every smell. The Catnip that she gripped so tightly between her teeth was her source of calmness. if this cat or cats planned to attack her she would be prepared to run or climb, with that thought she scooped out a good tree she would be able to climb up. The she-cats bright blue eyes glanced all around very calm and very serious, she had a mature look to her and a seductive look to her eyes. Her tail looked like it was puffed out from nervousness but actually it was always that fluffed. Something ruffled behind her and she calmly turned to see, her eyes slightly narrowed and her non existing muscles tense, she was ready, ready to face what ever was hidden in that bush. suddenly a small gray mouse scampered across the forest floor and right past her, she quirked a brow as her eyes followed it. Hmm..  normal cats would let their guard down but Mistshade trusted her nose, she knew something else was out there.

Well, aren't we the lucky ones?

She had stopped and done a 360, her clear blue eyes searching the forest growth carefully. How unfortunate-- he would have loved to catch her by surprise. Well, what harm was there in revealing himself earlier than planned? She was a guest, after all, and he the host. Cracking a natural smile, he slipped out from his leafy hiding place, emerging into the sunlight. Shadows from the trees that dappled his pelt withdrew slowly to reveal faded ginger markings and a shining white tail-tip. As the darkness receded, sunlight warmed his pelt, creating a faint glow that outlined the fine tufts of his bright orange. Sure, the sunlight was bright, but his smile was brighter. Though teasing and cheeky, it spread across his features in just the right proportions. Exotic amber eyes, calm and challenging, held hers as he neared, their endless depths alluring. He was like an angel on fire. Yet, there was something restless and daring lurking beneath the surface of his appearance that managed to leak out in his confident stride and the hint of adventure in his gaze. He was so beautiful, and at the same time, wonderfully imperfect.

"StormClanners aren't exactly known for their sense of direction..." he began, stopping a surprisingly friendly cat-length away. Deep amber orbs did a quick once-over of the stranger, noticing the quality texture of her fur, and the unusual brown-tinted white colour. She had small, dainty paws, a petite figure, and sky-blue eyes. Oh, and she was short. Feeling smug, the fiery tom pretended to stretch his neck, rolling his shoulders to both display his handsome muscles and emphasize his unbelievable tallness. "... but I didn't think that it was this outta wack." When his casual gaze settled back onto her, his smile had widened, and now the expression on his face was one of pure delight. Something free and wild lit up his eyes.

Ohh, hoh hoh hoh, we should have some fun trying to unravel this one.
Do what you want. Your petty games are disgusting and downright improper.

A single step brought him ridiculously close, and he tilted his head, cracking his signature grin.

"Lost?"

SunsetClan, when you thought of SunsetClan you thought of the beach, warm sandy beach, the cool refreshing water, the fiery red burning sun. The tom that stepped out before her was the sun that held that warm beautiful picture together. His body was large, tall and and muscular, there was no point in running and rational cat could tell that, no point in climbing, by the size of his muscles he would easily catch up. Mistshades face remained claim but her mind raced, she picture the fire engulfing her, holding her down and easily doing what ever he liked to her, ripping her throat out, she may..may get a bite or a scratch in but her pathetic little pleas would be like tossing a pebble into the large lake and then trying to find it.

She wouldn't dare say it out loud for the simple fact she had brains, cockiness would only get her into trouble here. He was going to toy with her, and then... wait, her eyes only flickered as he rolled his shoulders. Mistshade glanced back up sky blue locking onto amber fire, he was flirting, or at least leading up to it. The Catnip in her mouth rest gently as she felt herself mentally relax, she had this now.

Mistshade leaned down slowly her eyes never leaving his only closing slightly closing giving him a seductive blue eyed gaze, she slowly placed the catnip down and raised back up "Yes...I-I..there was a dog and I just didn't know what to do.." Her voice sounded like she was about to cry, like she was truly helpless and scared. She stepped towards him her eyes still never leaving his, they was closer than before and she could feel his body heat.

Clearly this tom thought he could play a better game, he thought she would be just another little pawn for him to wrap his dirty paws around and use however he wanted and then toss aside...she would show him differently.

Checkmate.

Birchflame watched her movements with half an interest. She leaned down, placing the catnip in her jaws at her feet, and then stepped closer, much to his surprise. Oh? Her alluring blue gaze, heavy-lidded and seductive, held his gently, and the fiery tom felt that familiar tug of attraction. Keeping his own gaze steady on hers, he didn't fail to notice the sweet, flowery fragrance engulfing him, trying to pull him in closer than they already were. His own scent, rich pine and the smell of fresh wind, mixed in with hers, creating a smooth, exotic blend. "Yes...I-I..there was a dog and I just didn't know what to do.."

There were no sparks

Just a gasoline fire burning through the dark

"Oh? Well then, I would be happy to give you directions," he murmured, referring to something else entirely. He didn't move, but his deep amber gaze held hers softly, and his whisper was quiet and seductive. The sunlight now fell on her pelt, making it glow beautifully, outlining both of their bodies in a warm white glow. There were two angels now, fire and ice, locked in a heated almost-embrace, close enough that one could have exhaled and the other would have felt it as a soft breeze. They had fallen into a beautiful rhythm with each other.

Until he stepped away and walked right past her.

"So, which way did you come from?" he sighed, now a good few feet away from her. His back was turned to her, something that his companion was going completely fanatical over, and he was looking around as casually as if nothing had ever happened, or was at least completely oblivious to it. "I can't really give you directions back to StormClan straight through the other territories, you know."

...Oh.
You really thought I'd be unfaithful to my clan.
I wouldn't quite put it past you.
Oh, please. There are plenty of even prettier she-cats in SunsetClan.
...You may have a fair sense of humor yet.


He smiled.

Perfect.. he was falling, Mistshade couldn't help but getting a friendly smirk on her face, she purred softly as he got closer. She could slowly feel her claws poke the ground, she blinked bashfully and had to tilt her head back just to make eye contact, her mind groaned. It's hard to be attractive when you're trying to impress a mammoth. She subconsciously rolled her eyes as the sun light up their pelts, her blue eyes flickers down to admire his, he was very handsome.

Mistshade leaned in breathing in his scent, mm he didn't smell bad either. Her tail swayed gracefully and twitched as she was about to step closer into him. Suddenly the handsome tom before her was gone, She stared at the forest before her and quickly whipped her head around to see the tom facing away from her. What? Her mind hissed the word as her eyes narrowed glaring at the back of the toms head. Fine, he wanted to be stubborn.. "So, which way did you come from?" Mistshade physically rolled her eyes this time "Oh I dunno.. you was the one stalking me.." Her claws fully unsheathed and pricked at the ground beneath her.

She allowed her claws to retreat back inside her paw as she relaxed her face, she sniffled softly and walked next to him "Well.. I came from back where the two-legs nests are.." she quietly sniffled again and laid her ears back glancing up at him. A soft smile formed on her lips "You? A big, strong, Warrior such as yourself could easily help a little.. helpless she-cat such as myself through all the territories" as she spoke she slowly moved her mouth closer to his ear, it wasn't easy to do gracefully he was so freaking huge. Damn Sunsetclanner feeding their cats some steroids, however, she pulled it off nicely.  Her tail gently stroked his hind leg as she spoke to him, her eyes inviting.

We're young and we're reckless

Remember the first time we met?

A quiet sniff caught his attention. As she spoke, Birchflame's ears automatically rotated backwards, only to still as the stranger's whisper suddenly sounded right next to them. "You? A big, strong, Warrior such as yourself could easily help a little.. helpless she-cat such as myself through all the territories."


I was scared to approach ya
      but then you came closer

Deep amber orbs flicked to the side and narrowed. Her voice was so quiet and gentle, and next to him, she seemed so small and vulnerable. Was she really faking this? Or could she be for real? Maybe she was actually totally honest and just very emotionally fragile. Maybe he should just let her leave right now. Ahhhhhhh her breath was so warm and shesmellssogood...

His companion's sigh echoed through his head. Huh. What a strange sound.

You are positively muttonheaded.
Well, what would you suggest I do?
I don't know, Birchflame, kill her? This could be much easier.

He froze. Something was petting his hind leg. Birchflame's eyes moved from the side that her head was on to the side that her tail was on. Without moving his head, it was hard, but he managed to see what was down there, and it did not make him happy.

Again, his eyes switched sides casually. She couldn't possibly see his face from this angle, but he kept it carefully neutral just in case. Her breath, warm and gentle, barely grazed his ear, and he found himself struggling with the urge to lean in. He'd dealt with this before, countless times. This StormClanner, though lovely, was no different. He was always the one doing the smooth talking, not the one being smooth-talked to.

One did not simply 'seduce Birchflame'.

"Tch."

In one quick, smooth motion, he raised a forepaw, balancing carefully on all-threes, and aimed to plant it straight in her face. With that, he would push her away roughly, without care for her gender, or 'how a lady should be treated'. Screw etiquette. Ignoring Six's irritatingly loud protest at this notion-- YOUPREPOSTEROUSIMBECILEDISRESPECTFULLITTLEHOWDARE-- he proceeded to turn around and, if his efforts went smoothly, look down at her, probably sprawled in the dirt and hopefully robbed of all dignity, with hardly-concealed amusement.

And then he would give up and laugh.

So far from StormClan this she-cat had only one option, it wasn't like she had multiple options and could easily find a better solution. She had done it a few times before, a tom thought he could take control of her, her petite size, her beautiful looks, gentle, innocent ice eyes. Same thing every time, he would approach her, say a sly line, show surprise and joy when she would respond like a helpless cat. They would walk off together, him staring down at her with devil like eyes, her smiling sweetly like she had found the cat of her dreams. She would return to StormClan later her paws washed clean of the blood, the evidence all gone. 

Mistshade mind flashed to her last apprentice, she had, had a fear of water when Mistshade toke her to the river. Mistshade had grown tired of her apprentice and how pathetic she looked and sounded, so with a little effort she was soon watching her apprentice drown, crying out for help that would no come. Mistshade remembered how calmly she sat there and watched as the StormClan apprentice drowned, another pathetic cat gone from the world. A slight smirk slide across the she-cats face as she looked up at the tom, his face surprised her but didn't damage her sweet complexion. She knew if this tom didn't take to her sweet act she would have to do something else, Mistshade was excellent at all things.. hunting, climbing, running.. but fighting, even against younger cats she was no good at, her ice eyes flickered as she looked the tom up and down quickly and held back a shiver thinking of his claws sinking into her skin.

"Tch"

Wait what... "Tch?" Her calm complexion faltered now, her eyes narrowed as she quickly looked up to glar- paw. There was a paw in her face and a very large one at that, she barely even had time to breath in, in surprise. Suddenly her nose was hit with the paw and her body reacted by falling tot he ground under the weight and pressure of the paw. She hit the ground with a soft thud but to her it was hard. She rolled once and then landed slightly curled up with her fuzzy tail over her face. 


...did he just..


Mistshade's tail slowly fell from her face and her eyes burned bright ice blue, her blood began to boil and her claws were sheathed, she felt a hiss fighting it's way up her throat but the image of him ripping her apart kept it from coming out all the way. She glanced up half in disbelief and the other half was split up in anger and still the sweet she-cat act. This tom wasn't like the rest, Mistshade layed there for a few moments before cautiously getting to her paws. "I must saw, you have some nerve pushing a she-cat down.." her eyes shot up to him slightly narrowed, she just wanted to take his head and just, she pictured herself strangling him. 


The Stormclan cat swayed her tail slowly, she thought about picking up the Catnip and leaving, would he let her leave? She glanced down at it and then back up at him. Could she out run- No. No second thinking that she knew he would easily catch up. Her head tilted slightly at him, perhaps she should just go and push him off a cliff. Mistshade hissed lowly and toke a step towards him unable to control her anger.
