Mintpaw, medicine cat apprentice of SunsetClan (hi, my name is Midnight and I'm here to destroy your eyesight)
It was a beautiful sunset, as was extremely common in SunsetClan, and Mintpaw was relaxing, stretched out on a large brown rock, watching the hot, golden sun melt into the ocean. It was a very calming experience, and one that Mintpaw had every so often, especially during greenleaf. Of course, greenleaf was the time in which twolegs were around the beach the most, but that didn't stop most SunsetClanners from sneaking around. After all, they had to get food, and most of them weren't fans of night-time hunting.
Yawning, Mintpaw flicked her ears back, the vibrations of nearby cats bringing her back to reality. Mintpaw's ears folded back slightly, eavesdropping on the conversation being held between two she-cat apprentices.
"Did you hear?! He's totally in love with her!"
"No way! He can't be in love with her, geez! Sure, he definitely likes her, but love?! It's not possible!"
"Well, from what I heard, he totally likes her back."
"You know, I'd give anything to be his mate some day..."
"Yeah, me too. He's so handsome and such an amazing hunter!"
Another yawn escaped Mintpaw's mouth, though this one was not of tiredness, but of boredom, and yet, she felt something else mentally tugging at her. Was that...? No, it couldn't be.
Oh, but it was. Jealousy had brought itself upon Mintpaw.
She could not allow herself to be attracted to any cat. She could not have a mate when she was a warrior.
Heck, she wasn't even going to be a warrior.
Really, she'd never wanted any of those things (mates are gross and being a warrior just isn't the ideal lifestyle every cat makes it out to be), but knowing she could not have them irritated Mintpaw.
Now friends, like those she-cats seemed to be, were things that Mintpaw could have. but did she have any? No. Why not? Because, to put it simply, Mintpaw was rude.
Rolling over so she was facing the beach, Mintpaw called out, "All apprentices and warriors in the area need to report to me right now!" It sounded like a command, but it was truly a cry of loneliness, and Mintpaw wished only to maybe make a friend. What would she do if some cat came over and expected to be bossed around? What excuse would she have for calling this? Eh, it didn't matter. What was done was done.
