The day had turned out to be a rather lousy one in Stormclan. Rain trickling down on the cats, as they went about their duties for the day. Turning the normally solid ground rather muddy and leaving large puddles all around. It was not the type of weather for clean freaks or sun lovers that was for sure. Trotting along through this rain, his normally white forepaws brown was Starlingpaw. His mostly black, shaggy fur was completely soaked, and he was carrying a small wet vole between his jaws. His large fluffy tail heavy with rain, sort of drooped while he walked getting too heavy to keep in the air. but despite the miserable weather the young tom seemed to be in a good mood. Lightly humming beneath his breath as he tread back towards camp with his kill. Hunting in the rain had proved more difficult then Starlingpaw had planned for, but he had managed to catch the unsuspecting vole and all facts considered was pleased with the kill. Better than nothing, he thought as he entered camp and set the vole down on the rather soggy fresh kill pile. Glancing around, he shakes his pelt some sending a spray of water in every direction along with a tad bit of mud.

The sky looked sour, almost as grumpy as the tom lying right inside of the apprentice den. His face was distorted into a scowl, though it could easily be taken as his usual expression. Brokenpaw was hardly the cat most wanted to be around. He lied with his belly facing the ceiling, and his paws swatting at the air as though there were invisible feathers hanging from the den roof. Today was hardly a good day to be outside hunting or training, so Brokenpaw had decided that he simply would not go. He was lie around, eat some prey, and sleep as much as he wished.

He tilted his head so that it faced the camp entrance, where he noticed another apprentice entering, a juicy vole in his jaws. Brokenpaw licked his lips; the apprentice's catch had reminded him of how famished he was. He could certainly go for some tasty vole. The tom rolled onto his feet, and padded towards the freshkill pile, his currently clean pelt catching raindrops. He limped to the pile, and picked up a small mouse from the pile. He glanced up at the other tom. but before Brokenpaw could give a sarcastic and probably bluntly rude remark, the tom shook his shaggy pelt, which had been coated in water and dirt. Brokenpaw flinched as mud and wet flew into his face and along his side. The tom grimaced grumpily. "Excuse me, watch where you shake your pelt," He growled to the tom, still holding the now slightly muddy mouse in his jaws.

Starlingpaw had failed to notice Brokenpaw sneak up and grab his mouse. Else wise he wouldn't of shaken his pelt right when he did. but too late the damage was done, and his ears were met with the unhappy growl of Brokenpaw. Standing with his fur spiked out in a damp mess, he tilts his head at the tom shrugging his shoulders some. " Sorry Brokenpaw." He says mossy gaze sincere. " but hey at least it will wash away in a sec." He says whiskers twitching in amusement, as the rain poured down soaking his pelt all over again. He sits a moment and licks it watching the sodden tom before him for a response. He didn't know much about Brokenpaw, beside the fact he'd been injured and renamed from Boulderkit to Brokenpaw. Something he sort of felt was cruel on Goldenstar's part, but it wasn't his place to say stuff like that.

" So... hows your day been so far?" He prompts the tom, hoping to distract him from his anger. He didn't much like fighting preferring to keep that on the battle field instead of between clanmates. On the battle field he was more than willing but here among the cats he considered family not so much.

Brokenpaw glared at Srarlingpaw, his eyes displaying his annoyance. Stupid tom, how dare he think that a simple sorry was going to make everything better? And now, instead of being able to scurry out of the rain to keep his pelt somewhat dry, his only means of washing out the mud was to get even more wet. And, no matter what other clans said, not all StormClan cats loved to be wet. 

The dark tabby looked at Starlingpaw, his eyes still narrowed in anger but his head tilted in confusion. This tom just made my bad day even worse, and now he is trying to start conversation with me? "Oh, it has been absolutely lovely. I listened to the birds in the trees, and caught a load of prey, and, oh wait. My day has been horrible, just like everyone else's, mousebrain," He retorted, his sarcasm evident. What was this tom thinking, trying to start up conversation? Brokenpaw knew he was known for being a blunt, rude, fox-heart, and he liked it that way. Everyone who tried to talk to him usually only ended up yelling at him anyways for being 'lazy.' Well, pardon me for not saying exactly what you want me to!

He sat down with a huff, landing like an old elder would whose bones were sore with the damp weather. The tom took a bite of his mouse, and glanced at Starlingpaw. Hopefully, if this tom had any sense, he would leave. but, knowing most cats in this StarClan forsaken clan, he would stay. It would take a bit more pushing to force a cat like him away.

Starlingpaw can tell from the anger still written all over Brokenpaw's face, that his humor had done him no good. Preparing himself for a good tongue lashing, he pauses in his grooming ears rising a little. At first he almost believes that Brokenpaw had taken the hint to loosen up, but then the tom's words change for the worse. He takes the words in, holding back a chuckle. This tom was so young yet he reminded Starlngpaw of a crotchety old elder. " Not everyone." He tells the tom matter o fact like. " My day has been pretty good, all facts considered." He adds flickering his tail to the fresh kill pile where his soggy vole sat on top. " Yours could be too..." he adds starting to groom his pelt once more as he talked. " That is if you took your head out of your rear end and opened your eyes." He says mossy green gaze glinting mischievously. He knew his words would only anger the tom but it seemed that everything angered him so why not? He wasn't trying to be mean but on the other hand, perhaps if he gave Brokenpaw a taste of his own medicine he'd realize it wasn't so fun.

Brokenpaw’s ironically sunny-colored eyes watched Starlingpaw for a reaction, awaiting either the explosion, the lecture, the departure, or the comeback. All three were valid options, and Brokenpaw had watched others react to him for long enough to know that these were the options that were usually chosen from. He had to say, he liked the cats with the sharp tongues and the witty words least of all. They always seemed more than capable to beat him in a battle of words. He should have known that Starlingpaw would be this type, even if at first he seemed like he was just going to lecture and let it go.

Brokenpaw’s tail gave an annoyed flick and he turned back to his food, taking another bite as the tom went on about how wonderful, how beautiful his day was. His eyes glanced up at the other cat as he began to speak of how he could make everything better. Brokenpaw had to stifle his hiss. I should have known he would have a comeback.

“Oh, so the reason I am annoyed by you is because my face has been shoved in my butt? Hm, I could have sworn that it had something to do with my paw,” The tom meowed, taking another bite of his food, pretending that the tom’s words had not phased him one bit. Did he really seem like that? “And I recommend to not criticize until you’ve walked, no limped a few tree lengths in a cat’s pawsteps. You will get more hate than if you would just keep your idiot mouth shut.” Brokenpaw grumbled.
