The silvery-white tom flitted through the trees, hunting down Silverpaw's scent. His fur was bristling, and his soft green eyes were full of sharp anger at the thought of Silverpaw starting to devolpe a crush on Cherrypaw. His usual calm demeanor was gone, now replaced by the angry shell that was now him. Oh how Cherrypaw had changed his life, but for the better or worse he did not know, nor did he care. As long as she was in his life, and with him, he was happy. His strong muscles rippled under his short fur, his paws thudding softly against the ground as he moved forward, searching for the scent of his brother. That was when the scent drifted into his nose. 

Silverpaw was near.

The apprentice swallowed. He'd been thinking about his feelings for Cherrypaw for days, and yet he still could not come up with a conclusion: did he like her more than a friend? No. He couldn't. This wasn't like him; he'd made a promise to himself, that very day when he'd been apprenticed, that he would never fall in love; that he would never feel anything more than acquaintanceship for others; that he wasn't attracted to anyone, or anything. Racing into the forest, he had scrambled out of camp to sort out his thoughts, which were making his head spin. What was he doing with his life? Silverpaw turned as Wolfpaw's scent wafted over his nostrils. Without turning around, he said calmly,

"Hello, Wolfpaw. Can I help you?"

Wolfpaw did not stop as he heard his brother's words, his green eyes glowing with anger and as took a leap, aimed at Silverpaw's shoulders, his muscles rippling smoothly and every hair on his pelt bristling. No...he loved Cherrypaw, and he couldn't let his brother get involved. He was never a violent cat, but Cherrypaw had changed him, no, LOVE had changed him. With a yowl,"You...need...to stay away from her!" As he aimed for his brother's shoulders, hoping to knock him to the ground and pin him down.

(ooc: Can we just say that earlier before in their lives, Silverpaw has told Wolfpaw that he's asexual? So they know, but Wolfpaw's kind of suspicious he's lying and stuff)

"Stop! Wolfpaw, you're being insane!" shrieked Silverpaw, his handsome face twisted with anger. "You're just jealous. Look how foolish you are! Are you going to fight every tom that comes near her? She's a medicine cat, you idiot! No matter how much you love her, you can't ask her to be mates." Wriggling out of his brother's grasp, Silverpaw drew himself up to his full height, his sharp amber glare fixed on Wolfpaw. "I don't love her. I can't. Didn't I tell you that I wasn't attracted to any cat? Didn't I tell you that? Why won't you believe me?" He knew it was a lie. He did like Cherrypaw. It came to him with a snap, like a smack in the face. He had just as strong of a feeling of wanting to protect Cherrypaw as Wolfpaw had with her. Silverpaw growled beneath his breath. No, I can't. It's wrong. Wolfpaw fell for her first. And she's a medicine cat. I can't. It's against the code. I'll be breaking everything I lived for, I fought for, by confessing. I won't. I'll deny it. It's not possible. All this time that I spent talking to her... I never felt anything. Why do I do now? It's no different. No. "No," he said loudly to his seething brother, "no. It's... it's not." he faltered, and he looked down at the ground. "No. I'm not... attracted... to anyone."

Wolfpaw snarled, his green eyes glowing with anger as he moved off of his brother, though his green eyes were set upon him with a deep glare,"I know I can't, you mouse-brain! but someday, I still want to tell her I love her! Why can't you all just leave us alone!" He shouted, his fur bristling with anger. First Fleetpaw, now Silverpaw were getting involved in his love life, then his Duskpaw figured out that he was in love Cherrypaw...why could they not leave him be. That was when he remembered - Silverpaw had confessed to him that he was asexual. His fur slowly lying down flat, though his eyes were glinted with suspicion, he stared at Silverpaw with his sharp eyes,"I will protect her as long as I live, and then I will even protect her in Starclan, if I must, Silverpaw. I love her with all my heart, and no one can replace that." He meowed quietly, his gaze lowering to his paws.

"I know," laughed Silverpaw dryly. "You make that quite obvious. I'm just her friend. I'm not going to hurt her or try to make a move on her any time, you lovesick bastard," he said lightly. However, as soon as he said that, his heart gave a sick retch... he had made himself another heartbreaking promise. Sighing, Silverpaw nodded slowly. "She's in camp. Go back to where you want to be. Did you really hunt me down and then remember what I told you?"

Wolfpaw's anger subsided, by the fear stayed. He...He couldn't feel complete if Cherrypaw never loved him back, or loved another tom. With a soft, sad sigh, he know looked a bit pitiful."Silverpaw...Just...Just promise me you won't go for her. I...I love her too much to not get jealous, and I would never be myself if..." He could not even finish his sentence he felt so strongly. His chest aching at the thought, he stared at Silverpaw square in his amber eyes, a pleading look in his green eyes.

Silverpaw squirmed under Wolfpaw's green stare, and looked a bit uncomfortable. "O..Okay," he finally managed. "I will, Wolfpaw." At these words, Silverpaw again felt his heart drop. It was over, completely... but... "don't worry, Wolfpaw." Then, he looked at his brother straight in the eye. "You know, if you do actually really deeply love her," he said, "you wouldn't care if she liked some other tom. I'm not just saying this. If you did like her, you would just care that she was happy."

Turning away, he began to walk back to camp, in hopes of talking to Cherrypaw before Wolfpaw made another move. I never said 'I promise, he thought, smirking slightly.

Wolfpaw paused for a moment, thinking of his words, when he came to a realization."Silverpaw!" He meowed out, though his green eyes held a ting of anger,"You know what? I do want her to be happy, but I don't want her to be stuck with my asexual ass of a brother." He growled the words, his green eyes heightened with anger. How dare he accuse him of not being...No, his brother never said I promise. With a flash of white fur, he leaped at Silverpaw, his eyes blazed with anger."Silverpaw! You LIAR! If you were trully asexual," His voice was filled with deep anger, his eyes glinted dangerously,"Then you would have said I promise, and I am not blind, you idiot. I can see the way you look at her." His anger was over the edge now.

Silverpaw let himself go limp and shrugged in defeat. "So?" he snapped. "Like I said, I'm not going to go for her, you ass. What can you do? In the end, it's still her damn choice. Just continue on with your life, and I'll do so with mine. No biggie. It's not like I'm hitting on her or anything; I know my boundaries. Do you?"
