Roleplay Organization

One thing I've noticed about this site is that the roleplay seems a bit... jumbled up, I guess you could say?

Like, there's a bunch of different threads in the camps for individual character roleplays and it just... ehhhh...

One thing I'd like to suggest is a neater way of organizing the roleplay, and making it easier to get into and roleplay in.

I'd suggest something like this:

There'd be a category titled; "The Roleplay", and in that category would be a board called "The Clans" or something like that. Inside that board would be sub-boards for each of the individual Clans.

Inside the Clan boards, there'd be threads. Those threads would be: "Camp", "Territory", "Allegiances and Applications", and a few threads for landmarks.(Plus a thread for leader announcements since that looks like it's a thing?)

It'd make things a lot neater and easier to roleplay in, where all cats in one particular area(Like the camp) would roleplay in one thread instead of multiple, so there'd be no need for a ton of thread-jumping or just general confusion.

I'm gonna use another site as an example; Here's some screenshots, in order from largest to smallest(Category>board>sub-board>thread):

Note that I am in no way demanding or trying to force something like this on you guys, I just think it'd be a nice idea and would make the rp a lot neater and more organized, and would be a nice improvement.

Also, if you're in any way worried that taking these ideas may be considered "stealing" from the example site, you have permission from the site admin to use these if you do end up using them.(I'm the admin of that site, actually. xD)

I thank you for the time you took in considering and typing all of this out, but this isn't something I'm interested in doing.

Oddly enough, one of the most common compliments I get about AWRP is that it's very organized and well-run, but that's quite subjective, of course. In fact, with the majority of people telling me that AWRP is organized and well-made, I'm going to be less likely to sway.

There are many different ways to set up a forum, and we actually had a very different setup in the beginning.

Back in '11, there was just one category for the Clans, one for the afterlife, and one for the cats outside of the Clans. There was one board for each Clan and sub-boards for the dens.

That was changed because it was far too cluttered and the forum itself looked a little too ... small.


I've actually participated on roleplay forums where the camp was one thread and the territory was another thread. For me, it was a headache. My characters were ignored, there were 10 characters having 5 different conversations at once (and with as many roleplayers as there are on this forum, there would be a major issue of, say, going to bed and waking up to 5 pages of reading to do in the camp thread), some kits would be playing while adults are talking, the posts got mixed up - to put it simply, it was hell. I honestly have no idea how that could be any less organized, but if it works for you, then I'm glad for you.

Plenty of people have thread trackers, ProBoards' bookmarking feature, notifications, the "participated threads" button, and other methods to keep track of all their threads. I can't really grasp what's all that confusing about multiple threads, though - when the characters go from the camp to the territory, it's easier to make a separate thread that indicates that. Our members tend to plan these things out pretty thoroughly, so no one is all that confused about what's going on, and if they are, all they have to do is ask.

As for sideboxes with high positions in them, been there, done that, I prefer using a thread for various reasons. I can keep the information about how to get a high position in with the list of high positions. As far as I'm concerned, that's neater.

Another Warrior Roleplay has been going for three and a half years now. A change so large and unnecessary would do nothing but confuse people. The people who have joined the forum have done so because they like it enough to come on and roleplay, and considering our popularity, I'd say things are pretty smooth on here. Of course there is always room for improvement, but I do not feel this would be an improvement in any way.
