The Dark Forest has grown restless, wanting nothing more than to cause trouble for the Clans. Several Dark Foresters devise a plan to convince the living that the warrior code is immoral, StarClan is actually the afterlife group filled with evil cats, and overall that everything they've been taught was incorrect.
Cats start believing this. Maybe they're insecure, maybe they're filled with some unanswered fury, could be that they're just plain ol' gullible. Either way, as cats start believing this, they begin to break the warrior code left and right. These cats cause all kinds of trouble, trespassing, harassing patrols of other Clans, killing cats in situations outside of self-defense, and many other things.
Unaware of what's going on (potentially with some exceptions, as I'm hoping at some point that at least one leader falls into the DF trap), the leaders begin taking this poor behavior as a threat. They begin throwing accusations at the other leaders and fights break out.
The outbreak of acting against the warrior code and StarClan grows stronger. The cats that have fallen under the DF's manipulation and those unaffected begin to fight within their own Clans.
The DF believers decide to come together, under the DF's rule, as an undercover group within their Clans. While some of the cats may be kicked out of their Clans, there are many who are very clever about what they're doing and are left under their leader's radar. The DF cats convince these believers to try to take over the Clans, making an attempt to live vicariously through them. In general, the DF cats want to see the StarClan-believing living fall apart. They want to destroy the Clans.
Eventually, the leaders grow sick of all of this crap. They're done with cats trying to kill them without any hesitation. They're tired of all the code breaks. As a result, the leaders who are still in their right minds come together, calling all of their still-sane cats to fight with those who have sold themselves to the Dark Forest.
The battle will end in a lot of deaths. Any Dark Forest-believing cat who screams for mercy will be held on a sort of 'trial' to ensure that they really have figured out all they did wrong, apologize, and pledge not to do it again. We'd much rather most of them dying, though, with only a few leftovers who accept what they did wrong.
Excuse the StarClan-sided number being off. People are free to switch their characters' sides and I don't like the idea of going through all the numbers and editing them constantly.
