    Leaf-bare-- the cruel thing-- made sure nothing was alive in these pools now. Though, something was alive around them. A solitary cat. Snow-white pelt, with tabby markings here and there. The sun beamed down upon the tom, and the stripes seemed brown rather than black. A sort of dusty brown. His eyes were amber, sort of orange, kind of gold. They looked a little empty, those eyes.
    His facial expression wasn't any better. It was all sort of bleak. Everything about the cat. Sure, he was rather handsome. but very bleak, very empty. It was a strange sort of thing, to assess the Warrior.
    He padded along, seemingly with no destination. The moist earth sucked at his paws. but he didn't notice. It was a feeling he was used to, only in a more metaphorical sense. He walked by one of the pools and stared in. He could see clear to the bottom, if he looked hard enough. He wondered how cold the water was. Probably not too bad.
    but he decided he would rather not find out. So he continued walking. but once he made it to the far end, he wasn't sure if he would turn around and go back.

Shadowpaw, once again, had ditched training and gone out to do his own thing, which was, simply saying, nothing. He refused to be productive; the Clan didn't deserve his aid. They could fend for themselves. He would work when needed, and in the presence of older warriors. Padding along the beach, he swished his charcoal tail, looking for something to do. Cautiously, he poked the water- cold, just like him. He had no desire to go swimming, but he swiped pointlessly at the water, making little droplets soak his fur.

It disgusted him how the ground was; dirty, muddy, and sticky. Briefly, he stepped into the sea to wash his paws, letting the coldness numb his body. Then, he continued, pushing through the water, refusing to go onto land. He squinted; a cat was approaching.

"Oh, hello, Prozak," he said as he passed. "Top of the morning, eh?"

    Prozak's eyes had fallen to the ground. He had walked a little farther than anticipated. And now he was imposing on some other cat. He felt bad. When the cat said his name, however, he looked up a little. His amber eyes dropped quickly.
    "H-hi," he said, his voice quiet and soft, his voice deep and smooth. He sounded like he wanted nothing to do with anyone. He sounded awkward, as well. More than a little, there.
    Top of the morning? How was he supposed to reply to that? He fidgited. "Yes...?" he said, sounding hesitant. He fixed his eyes on some point near the Apprentice. He wanted to make it at least look like he was looking at him.

"Are you doing something productive for the Clan?" drawled Shadowpaw in a bored monotone. He wanted to needle the other cat, trying wheedle a weakness out of him. Then, he would save it in the back of his head, until there was a day when he needed to use it. "Why are you here all alone? Go back. I'm going to do my business of doing nothing." Narrowing his eyes, Shadowpaw frowned at Prozak as if he'd done something wrong. Scoffing slightly, he turned his head and walked away, smiling to himself. Stopping briefly, he looked around, bored. "This Clan doesn't deserve my help, those pathetic water-bugs."
