Puddlesdog

The sleek black apprentice lay down in the evening sun. His muscles ached after his training session this morning. Copperstag had worked him so hard, not to mention the creepy way his mentor always looked at him..... Swiftpaw shivered. I wish I had a different mentor, one who liked me!  He sighed and rolled onto his back, exposing his soft belly fur to the dying rays. I hate training. I wish I didn't have to be a warrior. I'd much rather be a medicine cat. The young tom closed his eyes and lay there for a few minutes before sitting up. There, he began to groom his fur. When he was done, the sun had almost set. His silver eyes reflected the moon as it began to rise over the forest. I wish I had someone to talk to..

Mistypaw walked, no paced in the apprentice den. Her gray fur shaking with every step. "Time to go out." She meowed confidently. but she didn't feel that confident, this wasn't fun, this warrior business. She would much rather be a kit again, stalking in the nursery, or rather, hiding. The small she-cat poked her small head out of the den, her eyes bulging with fear. 'What if some large cat eats me?!' She asked herself, her tail swaying behind her as she blinked. Her paws stuck out in front of her sticky, she walked forward. "Okay, one foot in front of the other.." She whispered looking down at her paws. Mistypaw sucked in a large breath, her heart fluttering franticly inside her chest. She saw a black apprentice her age, and tried to skip over. but her stiff legs made her trip and slip, falling flat on her face. "Hi. I'm Mistykit." She meowed standing up with as much courage as possible after falling flat on her face.

Swiftpaw swallowed a mew of amusement as his denmate tripped over next to him. but, suddenly as he looked into her eyes as she got up he felt nerves rising in his belly. What if she doesn't like me? What if she's mean and creepy like Copperstag? What if she thinks I'm a mousebrain? He closed his eyes to calm himself. Nothing's wrong. Just calm down. He opened them again and said, without looking at Mistypaw, Hey, I-I'm Swiftp-paw. He could hear his heart thumping in his chest as he thought about what Mistypaw would think of him.

Mistypaw looked around wildly, hoping her wasn't looking at her. Maybe there was something behind her.. Nope only the den. She turned around again, her paws shuffling awkwardly as she moved. She smiled at the ground, hoping the smile would make its way up to the tom. "Swiftpaw, nice name." she said kindly. She raised her head and dipped it in a respectful manner. Maybe he is nice, and won't eat me. Or fight me...she thought with a gulp. Her green eyes dared to look at the tom, Swiftpaw. That was one of the no names.. well he wasn't one anymore. And.. She shook her head slowly, biting her lip, she would never pass as a friend to anyone.

He nodded, unsure of what to say next. What should I say? D-do you want to go for a walk or something? He asked. Seriously, what should I say? He wracked his brain for the best thing to do or say or something... The black tom stood up and padded closer to Mistypaw. It's getting cooler, the best time to go for a walk. W-we could just... Go into the forest and chat maybe? Surprisingly, he found himself wanting to go on a moonlight walk with this pretty apprentice. Please say yes..

Mistypaw watched the night black Tom. "Yes, a Umm walk." She meowed nodding. A slight chill over coming her small frame. She looked hopefully upward, maybe it was her nerves, making her imagine. but the chills were quite real, and another shiver over came her. She was glad for the warmer body, when she looked up Swiftpaw was beside her. Another chill came over her, she wasn't sure of happiness, coldness, or pure shyness. "Oh yes. Let's go." She squeaked. A real smile came her silver face. She walked forward, her paws trailing some. "So.." She mumbled to herself. 'What am I doing?!' She thought. This was stupid friendship could end in a stomach. Her imagination ran wild.

He headed towards the camp exit, Mistypaw by his side. Excitement welled up inside his belly, really for the first time. He shivered in the cool evening air and fluffed out his fur, to keep him warm. Without realising what was happening, he pressed against his companion, but he wasn't sure weather the extra warmth he felt was from Mistypaw's body or the way his fur brushed against hers.. Beautiful night, isn't it? He mewed, looking at her. Not the only beautiful thing around either.... He shook his head. What a mousebrained thing to think!  but deep down inside him, he knew it was truly how he felt. 

OOC: I'm kinda doing Swiftpaw with 'love at first sight'. I don't mind if Mistypaw doesn't feel the same way, I just think that it suits him, as he is usually very nervous.

Mistypaw felt more fur come across her frame, looking up she saw Swiftpaw. Her bright green eyes widened for a breif moment, he looked like a huge monster shadow. The cold chill had gone, and Mistypaw felt a rough purr enter her. It hurt her throat, as she had never purred out loud. Her mouth was shut as she walked out of camp. It sounded like something out of a nightmare, all alone, with a stranger, in the night. She swallowed and her tail swayed behind her, touching the Toms. Her head snapped around, before his question hit her. She jumped slightly, "Oh.. Yes, pretty." She meowed looking at him trying to regain a grip on her racing heart. When she looked up, she lost her breath, it was quite beautiful. "I have always liked the night better, listen." She meowed, her feelings spilling out. As she quieted the noose of a lone cricket soothed her.

Yeah, me too. He replied, all of his previous nerves had disappeared. He shivered as his tail touched with Mistypaw's. They reached a clearing where the moon shone down through the trees, illuminationg pretty white flowers that were scattered around the clearing. He padded to the middle of the clearing and lay down on his back looking up at the stars. They were reflected in his silver gaze as he looked up at Mistypaw and beckoned her with his tail.

Mistypaw felt her green gaze transfer from the noise to Swiftpaws face. What am I doing? She asked hersef transferring her gazeto the space ahead. "Oh this place is quite beautiful. I enjoy it.." She said, her ear tips burning. She was making a fool of herself! Suddenly she saw something on the verge of her eye sight. She turned her head and found the Tom beckoning her. Mistypaw trotted over, her tail hanging higher then normal. When she saw his eyes she nearly fainted, they looked so beautiful reflecting the starlight. "Your eyes.. Are wonderful." She mumered quietly. Her gaze transferred to the ground and she lowered herself on the space next to the tom. "Great view." She said, louder this time.

He purred as she settled down next to him. Your eyes... Are wonderful. He rolled over and pressed against her again. He looked into her eyes. They were green, like the leaves that rustled above them. Yes, a great view. he wrapped his tail around her and rested his head on his paws. You know, I've never been here with anyone before. He had never been anywhere with anyone before. Not like this.

Mistypaw smiled for the third time that day, her teeth glinting in the open moon light. Her head spin with all the events, her mind screeching for her to run far away now. She felt a presence of her shoulder, and a deep rumbling sound escaped her throat. Maybe this hadn't been such a bad idea. She dropped her smile quickly, and the purr was lost. "I- I have never really been out of camp with anyone except my mentor." She replied softly. Her gaze flickered to the apprentice next to her, and a longing pierced her heart. Mistypaw had always wanted a friend and now one was here, under the stars.

He pressed his nose into her shoulder fur and breathed in her scent. How about we stay here tonight? We can make a nest out of leaves... and be with each other. He had his first friend. Swiftpaw had never imagined that having a friend could feel so.. good. He rested his head against his paws and closed his eyes. HE smiled gently as he imagined him and Mistypaw alone and together for the rest of the night...

Mistypaw sighed, this did feel good. but what if a monster came and decided toe at her up? In the middle of the night? The gray she-cats drooping eyes snapped to attention. "Well," she paused. Her mind whirled, monsters, death, eating, but him. The thought made her flinch, how dare she think for one second that he was hers? She was to horrible, scared, and a wimp to be a friend with a normal cat. Her nose touched his briefly before she lifted herself of the ground. 'Not worthy. Not friends. Not anything. The thoughts taunted her endlessly. "I- thank you. You are quite kind. but I.. I am to..to.." She trailed off, she was to what? Her green eyes locked with his gray ones, a message crossing between hers. They said, 'sorry' in the most simple matter.

He looked into her eyes as she lifted herself up off the ground. His eyes shone with hurt. He blinked it away. Who would want to spend the night with me anyway? It's not as if anyone likes me. He turned his head away from Mistypaw to hide his thoughts. I-It's okay. Don't w-worry, he mewed, the words catching in his throat. Slowly he stood up at gazed at Silverpelt. He sighed and wrapped his tail around his paws. It was cold without Mistypaw beside him.
