Chaos in the den || OPEN

It was sunhigh, most cats were sheltering in the shade to escape the greenleaf sun. A tortoiseshell kit crept slowly across the camp. She had a mission. A mission to explore the apprentice den. Maplekit snuck through the entrance and crouched in the shade. She could see the shape of several apprentices sleeping out of the sun. She slipped around the nets until she was at the back of the den. She sat up triumphantly, her golden eyes shining. She began to make her way back, head up high and chest puffed out. She had made it all the way to the back of the apprentice den. Nothing could stop her now.

A fluffy tail was trailing out of it's nest. Maplekit didn't see it, she wasn't paying any attention to her surroundings, now that she had succeeded. Almost. The tortoiseshell she-cat stepped on the tail. She looked down in surprise but kept walking. Then with a thump she crashed into another nest and ended up on top of an apprentice. Horrified she slithered off, only to find herself pressed against the wall of the den. Maplekit dashed towards the exit. She stumbled over another tail and spun head over heels and out the den. She sat there, in the clearing, shaking her head. Her fur was sticking out at all angles and behind her the den was in disarray.

Oatpaw was partially asleep in the apprentice den soaking up the Greenleaf sun while daydreaming about what her warrior name would be. Oatclaw? Oatflame? Oatfang? Who knows... it might even be Oatstar. Suddenly a heavy weight collapsed on Oatpaw making her eyes shoot open. "Pinepaw what the dung? A pleasant 'Hey Oatpaw wake up' is..." She looked up to where she had been hit only to find no one on her. "Hey where did you go?" Pinepaw was wayyy too slow to run away that quick. Oatpaw instead turned her glaze towards the next closest awake apprentice, "What was that for?" She accused with her fur fluffed up.

Guiltily she looked back into the den. She could see Oatpaw hissing at her sleeping denmates. What should I do? Own up? Or make a run for it? The pretty tortoiseshell blinked her big golden eyes innocently. And then she sighed. I'm gong in. She padded back into the apprentice den and stood near her clanmate. Umm, Oatpaw? Well... I-it is kinda my fault that the den is wrecked... You see.. She mewed anxiously, her shyness coming back to her.

Thank StarClan I didn't need to go out on a patrol...

Silverpaw had his nose tucked under his tail, his sides rising and falling slowly as he slept. With greenleaf approaching its later and consequently warmer stage, being out in the forest at sunhigh was no different than wanting to have his pelt burnt off. He did try hunting in this weather yesterday but...he got lethargic too easily.

At least his dream forest wasn't too warm. It was nice and cooling, a perfect mix of bright sunshine and calming winds. The place was alive with the freshest scents of prey, all of them scuttling around, oblivious that a hunter was just within their area. Silverpaw had been stalking a starling, its pointed beak pecking the ground for worms and seeds. The young tom had his haunches tensed, wagging side to side in anticipation of his jump...

...and was rudely torn away from his dream when he felt a sudden weight pressing down on his tail, sending shocked pain through his nerves.

"Ow! Watch where you're stepping, mouse-brain!" he hissed, head shooting up from its original position. Bleary yellow eyes scanned the apprentices' den, catching sight a bedraggled apprentice hissing in the same annoyed manner as he was.

Silverpaw blinked rapidly, noticing that none of the apprentices in the den had really moved. but then...why is everything in a mess? His ears perked up when he saw a small figure meekly entering the den, saying something about wrecking it. Great... A kit out of their mother's supervision. He stood up carefully, shaking out his fur. Just what we all need.

Mousedung, now there are even more apprentices to tell me off! She stomped over to Silverpaw, who was standing up and hissing at his denmates. She stopped in front of him and mewed passionately, I am almost an apprentice and I deserve to be in this den. She looked at him, all of her previous shyness gone. You can't tell me off for just exploring!

Silverpaw snorted, sitting down with his tail kinked behind him. Sunlight was filtering into the den, dappling his pelt with shades of gold. Sleeping was out of the question.

"I only said to watch your step. It's sunhigh in greenleaf; too hot and everyone gets tired and sleepy easily. And with so many resting, the den gets crowded," he mewed quietly, sweeping his tail forward carefully to show the area where fur stuck out. "It won't be nice to wake your denmates when they're sleeping."

Blazepaw woke with a start. Who was complaining about what? He blinked open his tired eyes, and saw that there was more than one cat complaining. "What's all the fuss about?" he asked, irritated. He peered to the other side of the den, and saw a small cat figure. Was it a kit? "Why is a kit in our den?"
