Lightpaw looked his opponent over, his whiskers twitching. She was quite muscular, and it was obvious that she was taller than Lightpaw. He tried to ignore it. He knew that the smaller cat in a fight almost always had more trouble. but he would not let it get in his way. He would win this tournament no matter what. His paw still hurt a bit from Firepaw's bite, but otherwise, he was ready for battle. He struggled to not limp as he started to walk to his left, moving in a circle around the area in the hope of seeing Maplepaw's weakness. Everyone had to have one, right? Her long fur seemed like it may get in her way, but it would also make it more difficult for him to rip through it. If his claws got tangled in her calico pelt, he would be a laughing stock. He tried to put the image out of his mind, and charged towards Maplepaw. He was aiming to scratch her side as he rushed past her.

It felt like the previous round had ended just as quickly as it began. The two apprentices squared off for a short amount of time, and then it was all over. Maplepaw was just glad that she had been chosen to continue. Then again, if she had been the loser, she wouldn't need to keep taking part in this unnecessary fighting. She sighed, looking her opponent over just as he was surely doing to her. He was smaller and appeared more battered from the previous fight than she was. She couldn't quite pinpoint where his injuries were, but Maplepaw knew that she could use that knowledge to her advantage if she could figure it out in time.

Lightpaw rushed towards her right side with claws extended. The calico squeezed her eyes shut, bracing for impact. She was afraid that the tom would badly injure her... His claws sunk into her right flank and Maplepaw flinched. The she-cat spun around as Lightpaw ran past her. Her pelt burned with embarrassment. She wasn't supposed to be afraid in a fight! If she had jut kept her eyes open, she could have dodged or countered or done something else. Bramblestar would never make her a warrior now!

Maplepaw crouched, squared her shoulders, and watched Lightpaw carefully with a new determination burning in her belly. She was going to show them just how much she learned. She was going to become a warrior! The calico she-cat charged towards Lightpaw, aiming towards the right. However, she feigned the attack and instead leaped above him, hoping to use her size to land on top of him and pin him down.

Lightpaw felt his claws tear through the she-cat's fur, but as soon as he was done with the attack, he stopped. Why didn't she at least attempt to move? It was almost as though she had been afraid of the attack. He held back a laugh. "Why are you in this fight if you are scared of fighting?" He jeered. The tom stood as the cat crouched, and then charged at him. He stood still, waiting until she got close. It seemed that she was heading for the right, but in his last fight with Firepaw he nearly lost because he did not guess that he was feigning the attack and actually going to go to the left. Because of this, he waited until the last moment to take action. The she-cat jumped, and Lightpaw sped forward, scrambling to get out of the large she-cat's way before she landed. He felt her hit part of his back, but he had managed to get far enough away so that she could not pin him. He decided to take advantage of their close proximity, and turned around in order to aim a slash at her face.
