Ryepaw vs Minnowpaw - Tournament Round 2

[Wolf]

Ryepaw (nomstar) and Minnowpaw (Deku)

OOC: We're battling again! Good luck!

The bengal apprentice was excited. Okay, excited was an understatement. She couldn't believe that she had won the last round! Ryepaw could feel the nerves lurking deep down inside of her but she pushed them away. She could do this! Her paw was only slightly aching as she entered the fighting area and saw her opponent. Minnowpaw. The apprentice took a deep breath before crouching down and assessing her enemy. Well, he wasn't really her enemy. More like her opponent. She lashed her tail and glared at him. I need to intimidate him. Let him know that I am to be feared. She thought of all the battle moves that Kinkpaw and Shadowpaw had taught her. Let's do this! but, she didn't want to be the one to start. Oh no, it was much better to wait and see what the other cat did. That always led to victory.

IC: The small silver tom couldn't believe he had made it past the first round. Just wait until Ivypaw heard. Some of his wounds still hurt from his battle with Cinderpaw, but they weren't too bad. Now, as the she-cat crouched, he circled around her. Last time he attacked first, he might even do it again in this round, but for now he wanted more of a LeafClan strategy. He circled for a few moments before leaping towards Ryepaw, aiming for her lower flank and paws and hoping to knock her off balance.

The apprentice watched as her opponent began to circle her. Then she felt the sting of Minnowpaw's claws and they scraped against her side, unbalancing the she-cat. She was about to tumble into the dirt, but stopped herself just in time, rolling away from the tom. Ryepaw hopped up and shook the dirt from her fur before stalking towards the other apprentice. A thought rang through her head. Let's work with what I'm good at. She darted forwards and ducked under his belly, aiming to brush her claws lightly across Minnowpaw's belly. When she was on his other side, Ryepaw lept up as if she was going to land on his back. but she wasn't planning to. The Bengal apprentice wanted to skim over the tips of his ears, landing next to him before leaping up again and this time landing on his back. I hope that I can pull this off.

[Deku]

'Yes!' He thought as his claws made contact. Ryepaw hadn't fallen like he had wanted, but at least he did some damage. He set his paws, bracing himself for an attack as the she-cat stalked towards him. As his opponent darted forward, he had no time to move out of the way. She scratched his belly lightly, not enough to bleed real badly, but enough to hurt. He watched as the she-cat leaped once more, and again he braced himself to be pushed over. However, she jumped over him, and he twitched his ears slightly as she did so. 'What is she doing?' He thought, confused. Then finally, she leaped again, however this time Minnowpaw wasn't ready for it. As she landed squarely on his back and he yelped in surprise. He ran in circles trying to fling her off. He was not in a good position right now.

Yes! She had succeeded! Ryepaw clung onto his back, trying not to fall off as Minnowpaw ran in circles beneath her. but despite her best efforts, the apprentice slipped from his flanks and landed on the ground. She stood up, catching her breath before deciding what to do next. I have to win this!  Her flanks were stinging where her opponent's claws had penetrated her Bengal fur. She ignored it. Ryepaw decided to circle Minnowpaw whilst she figured out her next move. She lashed her tail and flattened her ears. Let's go for something simple and straight. She bunched up her hind legs and launched herself forwards, aiming to knock Minnowpaw over. 

[Deku]

He let out an almost silent sigh of relief as Ryepaw rolled off his back. It stung where she had tried to hold on though. He watched as she began to circle him, and he followed suit, circling her as well. Should he attack first again, or was she planning something? He had just begun to plan his next attack, when she leaped. He saw a flash of bengal fur before it crashed into his side, knocking him off his feet. He knew he needed to get up, but the blow had knocked the wind out of him. He needed time to catch his breath. So he stayed on the ground, breathing hard. If she attacked, he would be ready to defend himself, but he wasn't about to lose because he had been winded.

She felt a bolt of satisfaction as she crashed into Minnowpaw's side. The apprentice bowled head over heels and landed on her back, staring up at the sky. Somewhere in the distance birds called happily. Ryepaw struggled to her feet, suddenly out of breath. Her flanks stung and she was covered in dirt and dust, her fur sticking out everywhere. Her opponent lay on the ground a few tail lengths away. Is he okay? Nervously, she padded closer.  Then she let out a sigh of relief. He's okay. but she couldn't attack him when he was down. That wouldn't be honorable. She stood there, unable to decide what to do. Her leafy green eyes watched Minnowpaw nervously. What should I do?

Minnowpaw waited for an attack. He was sure she would try while he lay there. Yet, she didn't and he finally caught he breath. The small silver tom pushed himself to his feet. He looked towards the she-cat and gave her a small nod of thanks before preparing his stance again. He would allow he to attack before him, or otherwise he would come of as rude. However, this was a battle. He shrugged inwardly. It was a tournament, and he needed a strategy. As he sat there in a battle stance, he began to think about one, waiting for Ryepaw to attack.

Minnowpaw's nod was the signal for her to attack. She decided to go for a feint. The Bengal apprentice lept as if she was going to attack his left side but instead went for his right. She wanted to draw her claws along his side but didn't look to see if her claws met their mark. Then, Ryepaw rolled onto her back, making it look as if she had slipped. but when Minnowpaw attacks, she was going to use her back legs to push him away. She only had to hope that he did attack. Otherwise, she would look weak.

[Deku]

He was glad when the she-cat attacked, but only confused himself as he tried to keep track of where she was aiming. The feint succeeded, and he felt a pain on his right side. He growled softly to himself, frustrated that he had fallen for such a simple feint. When she rolled, he thought she had slipped, but this apprentice seemed to like her tricks. No, he wasn't going to fall for this one, but he needed to make it look like it. She probably was hoping for him to attack one of the weaker spots that were now exposed, but maybe it would be better if he didn't. He smirked silently. He was going to feint as well. The small silver tom leaped, making it look like he was going to land on her belly, but at the last second he tried turning away to land on the ground and pushing up a mini dust storm in the process.

She braced herself for the impact of Minnowpaw's attack, but was surprised to see him swerve in the air. That little trickster! She lept to her feet but was greeted with s swarm of dust. Ryepaw began coughing as the particles reached the back of her throat. The dust clouded around her as she stumbled towards fresh air. When she was in clear air again, she could see Minnowpaw's silver pelt through the remaining dust. And that is one of the disadvantages to having a white pelt! She leaped up into the air, claws unsheathed. It is so on. 

[Deku]

OOC: His pelt is silver not white by the way.

IC: Minnowpaw turned when he heard coughing and smirked to see his opponent choking on dust. She seemed to recover quickly and he side stepped her claws. Maybe she would get knocked off her paws as well. The tom didn't wait to find out and mimicked her previous leap. He needed to land a good blow if he wanted to win. With claws outstretched, he aimed for the she-cat's back.

OOC: When I was typing that in my mind I was saying, 'What if his pelt is actually silver? That would be funny'. I fixed it though :3

She crashed onto the ground, hopping up again. I will not be defeated this easily! Ryepaw gasped in surprise as her opponent ;landed on her back. That was fast! I didn't even see it coming. The apprentice began to run around, trying to shake him off. Then stopped abruptly. I have a better idea... Her shoulders stung where Minnowpaw was clinging on, but she ignored it. Ryepaw suddenly twisted underneath him, hopefully dislodging his claws and rolling away safely.

[Deku]

OOC: Eh, it's fine.

IC: When he landed on her back, he tried to scratch her a couple of times, but her running around made him just decide to hold on tightly instead. If she was doing what he had done last time, then hopefully he could hold on longer than she had been able to. He nearly flung off as she stopped abruptly, but instead took the momentary pause as a chance to finally get some scratches in. As she flipped over, he let go of her shoulders in surprise. He rolled away from the Bengal she-cat. How was he to get good blows in? He just needed to tire her out. He decided he would try a new tactic that hopefully his small size would help with. He leaped forward, baring his teeth, but at the last second he jumped back. He did this several times, hoping to throw her off.
