Willowkit cautiously opened her eyes and looked up at her mother, Cherryblossom. She was sound asleep, snuggling her kits in her fluffy fur. Perfect, Willowkit thought, Absoulutely perfect. She squirmed out of her mother's foreleg and prodded her two siblings with her good paw. "Tansykit, Bramblekit! I'm Willowstar of SunsetClan! First one to catch me can be my deputy!"

Tansykit was warm, snuggled into a nap with her family. Or, at least she was happily asleep and dreaming about the days when she would eventually be a warrior. Someone was poking into her side, rousing her from sleep. "Stop it, Willowkit," she murmured drowsily. What time was it, anyway? The tortoiseshell she-kit contemplated just rolling over and going back to sleep, nestled happily in Cherryblossom's warmth. However, the game proposed by Willowkit finally processed in her tired mind.

Immediately, she was up, most likely mistakenly shaking Bramblekit in the process. "Alright!" she agreed excitedly. Tansykit was always up for a game. She did her best impression of a crouch, position out of sorts and off balance, but rump wiggling in the air with her energy. "That'll be easy sense you're right there!" She aimed to land on her sister with her jump, but it became immediately apparent that Tansykit had overshot and would go sailing right over Willowkit and landing in the soft moss of the nursery floor.

Willowkit more or less darted away, crashing paw-first into the floor, flinging scraps of moss everywhere. She ran back over to Bramblekit and whispered in his ear "Come on, Bramblekit! If you keep sleeping, you'll have no chance to be my deputy!", but she quickly scurried away, knowing Tansykit would be on her tail. "Catch me if you can, furball!" she called to her, pleased with her little game. Her mother was sound asleep, but unfortunately, so was Bramblekit. Willowkit hoped he would wake up soon, to make the game more fun and challenging.

Bramblekit was peacefully dreaming, chasing a butterfly, but before he knew it, he was being shaken up. The fluffy brown tom warily opened his drowsy green eyes to slits, peering up at his two littermates. "Ok ok, fine, I'm up," he mewed quietly with a grumble, standing up and giving his little legs a stretch. Bramblekit quickly perked up at the prospect of a game, and quickly set his bright gaze on Willowkit. He howled with laughter when he saw that Tansykit had badly misjudged her pounce, ending right on the other side of Willowkit. "Not so fast, you furball!" he growled playfully, shaking his haunches up in the air before scampering towards his sister. At the last second, he pounced, hoping to land on his target.

The heat beat down from a cornflower blue sky, warming the heavy coat of the SunsetClan deputy as she made her way around the camp and made her wish she had been blessed with a shorter coat. Passing the nursery, Vineheart's round ears swiveled at the sound of happy war cries, soft mewls amidst the otherwise silent cluster of nests. Making her way over, Vineheart rounded the corner to see 3 young kits bounding around the nursery, eyes bright with excitement and excitement filling the air.

White whiskers twitched in amusement, golden eyes sparking with affection, as she watched the rather fluffy brown tom pounce at his sibling with a playful growl. Vineheart remembered playing with her litter-mates much in the same way. It all seemed very far away and this sweet, innocent joy dragged her mind away from the worries weighing her down. Sitting, the scarred deputy wrapped her tail around petite paws and purred a small laugh.

"You guys are getting rather good!"

Willowkit smiled as she watched her brother rise from the mossy nest, but realized her pause wasn't the best idea. Her hindquarters were soon pinned down by Bramblekit. She squirmed and wiggled, trying to catch the kinked part of her paw on a bramble or something, but flopped back onto the nursery floor in defeat. "Okay, okay! You win, Bramblekit! Your deputy name shall be.....Bramblethorn! Unless you want something else."

" You guys are getting rather good!"

Willowkit finally dragged herself out from under her brother and turned towards Vineheart. "Thanks! I'm Willowkit, but right now I'm Willowstar. He's my deputy, Bramblethorn. And I don't know Tansykit's warrior name yet. Do you wanna play?"

Tansykit never was able to catch her sister, though she had tried. Bramblekit had finally woken up and caught Willowkit. She began to pout a little, thinking she would be left out now that the game of 'become the deputy' had ended and Willowkit and Bramblekit would be the leader and deputy. SHe began slinking over to where her brother had her sister pinned when the actual deputy came in. Tansykit puffed her chest out and grinned at Vineheart's words.

Instead of slinking, Tansykit bounded the rest of the way to her siblings. "I can be Tansyspot, the medicine cat and the best warrior ever!" Tansykit always had ambitions to become a warrior, but what was a clan without the medicine cat? She would have to play that role, as he siblings were playing the other two roles of leadership. She turned eagerly towards Vineheart, bouncing lightly on her paws. "You could be Bramblethorn's apprentice!"

Bramblekit grinned with satisfaction when he managed to pounce on his furry target. "Hmm, I guess Bramblethorn is fine," he mewed, but before the brown tom could say anything else, he heard a voice coming from behind them. He turned around to see the actual Sunsetclan deputy watching them as Willowkit wiggled her way free from underneath the slightly heavier tom.

"Who says Tansykit needs to change her name" Bramblekit muttered teasingly to Willowkit ynderneath his breath, glancing slyly at his pouting littermate with a slight smirk on his face. He then raced over to Vineheart, successfully stopping himself from running straight into her front paws. "Ya, come play! Will you?" he asked hopefully. There probably would not be a whole lot of chances to play with such an important cat. And he wanted to get and stay on her good side, especially if he wanted to become leader someday.

"Thanks! I'm Willowkit, but right now I'm Willowstar. He's my deputy, Bramblethorn. And I don't know Tansykit's warrior name yet. Do you wanna play?"

Will you?"

The moment they recognized her presence, their little voices filled the air with questions and Vineheart's face softened beneath the horrendous scars, golden pools large and gentle. She had been interested in the lives of others well before she had become deputy and loved it when she could spend quality time with her clan mates again. Rising to her feet, Vineheart crouched down so that her belly was on the soft grass and she was a comfortable level with the kits. "You want me to play? Well then of course I will!" A playful swipe of that feathered tail of hers. "Why don't we go out into the camp where we have more space? Then we wont wake anyone." Rising to her full height once again which to be honest was sort compared to most cats but most likely large to these young once, Vineheart gestured they walk ahead of her. She would keep an eye on them out here and make sure they didn't get too far. but seriously, if they were going to play properly they needed a bit of space.

"Yay! This will be so much fun!" Willowkit giggled, bounding into the clearing outside the nursery. Her bad leg, which she refused to call a bad leg, was just barely scraping on the ground. "We should catch some fresh kill!" she squealed, eyeing a leaf and doing what she would call stalking, but was completely distracted from her prey when she saw a small, orange butterfy, fluttering around. Willowkit tried to catch it, but she couldn't jump high enough. "Come on, help me, guys!" she playfully whined.

While the tortoiseshell would never say she was one to be scared, she was quite thankful when Vineheart crouched down so that the kits could lok her easily in the eyes. Tansykit had enough good grace to not mention the scars on the deputy's face; she had enough practice with that when it came to Willowkit's leg. She had learned quickly that most cats did not take well to having injuries or deformities pointed out to them. No one would ever snap at her, but they were uncomfortable enough to send a message to her. Besides, the talk of playing in the camp was enough to distract her from saying anything.

Tansykit followed her sister eagerly, glancing over her shoulder to make certain that Bramblekit and Vineheart would follow them. "Last one out is mouse bile!" she called teasingly. Tansykit turned back after hearing Willowkit's ideas of prey catching. Her gray sibling was trying to catch a butterfly, but seemed to be falling short of the height. It was possibly because of her lame leg, but Tansykit said nothing as she bounded over and leaped as high as she could. Her small paws just barely batted the flying creaturebefore she fell to the ground again, knocking the poor thing off course. Well, maybe Bramblekit could get it.
